Everyone thinks I am nuts....I stayed at Grand Californian a few years back and loved the nightly turndown service. I didn't ask for it.....assumed everyone got it. Staying at Disneyland Hotel this trip....do they do it there too?

I totally get you. I love coming back from the park and finding the night lights on, the bed all ready for me, some candies! It is like little fairies came in to make the room cozy! Such a treat!

Where you in a Regular or Club Level Room at the Grand Californian?

Sounds silly but if they offer Turndown Service in Regular rooms and Disneyland Hotel doesn't that would really make me lean towards Grand Californian!!!

We love turn down at the DLH. I liked the chocolates better when they were characters though. Now it is the same as the GCH with the DLR logo.

Were you in a regular room at the DLR when you received Turndown Service?

We stayed at DLH last year for 8 nights and not once did our room or my sisters room get the turn down service. We were in a standard room though.

Is the turn down service at GCH standard for every room?

Turndown is standard @ GCH. You don't need concierge level. My kids automatically run to the beds to collect the chocolates, and will even check in the upper bunk (we always request a room with bunk beds). I agree that I like the foil wrapped character coins they used to give out (@ GCH it was critters). Now it is more sedate, with the hotel logo on it.

We had turndown service at PPH with CL....like the circle coin chocolates better, but my boys love the way their beds get made up with the stuffed animals arranged and their blankies laid out special.

I guess I thought turn down service was standard at ANY hotel. Or is this more than just making the beds, bringing fresh towels, etc?

No, pretty sure they are talking about in the evening, after the room has been cleaned. The maids come in and turn down your bed and leave little chocolates on the pillow.

Oh okay. I'm just not fancy enough. I don't know the difference between making the bed and turning it down. :)

For those who have had turndown service without concierge, what tower were you in? We were in adventure tower.

We stayed 5 nights in an upper resort view room, in the Frontier Tower, last June, and did not receive turn down service.

lol I didn't until I sailed on DCL :) Its not a HUGE deal but it just adds to the experience IMO... when your paying the prices of resorts like the Grand Californian I think the turndown is a nice touch :thumbsup2

Its odd to me that some got it at Disneyland Hotel and others didn't and it seems to be by tower? I mean does half of the Mousekeeping do it and the others don't haha

I seem to remember that some of the WDW deluxes do turn down automatically, whereas at some of the other deluxes you have to request turn down to get it. I wonder if that could be the case at DLR, too. We're staying at Disneyland Hotel in August, and I'd love it if we could get turn down - DD was so impressed when we got it at the Grand Floridian!

I like the turn down service at GC but they came by too early in my opinion. They came between 5-530pm. 2 out of the 3 nights we were in our room. We were napping once and the other time getting ready for dinner.
