Turn the Bus Around and Take Us Back to Disney! *COMPLETED*

We were on our way to a very magical place indeed, New Fantasyland! We did stop and admire the beauty of the back of the Castle while on our way, and then again, just enjoyed the sights of Beast’s Castle, Maurice’s cottage, and Gaston’s as we passed.

Before we knew it we were at our first ride at Disney! Under the Sea Voyage of the Little Mermaid! LM is my absolute, hands down fave! It’s Olivia’s favorite classic Princess as well, so this made a perfect first ride for us!!

Being new, it took us a minute to find out where stroller parking was, and then we made our way to the FP entry to use the GA cards for the first time. We walked straight on to this ride, with hardly any time to enjoy the beautiful queue! That was the one and only downer of the GA card, we missed a lot of the ride queues, but that’s really a small price to pay, so no complaints!

This ride was fantabulous! Amazing! Brilliant! I took zero photos because I could not dare to take my eyes away from the wonders before me. Seriously, it’s that good! I soon learned basically every ride was amazing and detailed like this, so I won’t go into crazy detail each time. But the LM, just wow. The colors are so vibrant, the music is prefect, the animatronics are so realistic. It was just perfect.

I was thrilled that Chris, Olivia, Maddie and I all got to share one clamshell, so our first ride together was with all of us. Really made my heart melt. Of course, the girls were over the moon for this ride. Maddie couldn’t look at things fast enough and Olivia wanted to ride it again, immediately. But we told them we’d be back for sure, because first we had to go meet a certain mermaid!!

So we left the stroller and walked right next door to the meet n greet line for Ariel!

Again, about a 10 minute wait, and soon we were before Ariel and all her finned glory!

I think Liv was slightly star struck here; she talked, but super quietly. After she took a photo Maddie and I hopped in the seat as well because I HAD TO get a pic with Ariel too!!!

After our time spent under the sea we grabbed the stroller and decided to continue on in the direction we were going because off in the distance we could see Storybook Circus where we had a date with Dumbo!!

Haha, Olivia was cracking me up with her crazy faces!

We didn’t have to wait in line so we didn’t make it into the big top playground area this first visit to Dumbo…but we would get there eventually! ;) We had a lot of fun spinning around on Dumbo!

We didn’t get to explore Storybook Circus right now, however, because we had a very special lunch date, in a very special Castle…

Next, The One With the Rose!

So where was our special lunch date?

In Beast's Castle!!!

It was about 10:30 at this point and we knew Be Our Guest was opening, so we headed over for our 10:45 reservation!

Here’s the deal on the BOG reservation, I read on the Dis a while back that they were finally allowing FP+ people to make reserved times for LUNCH at BOG. However, people who were not getting to participate in FP+ found that if they went to the BOG Lunch site that they could simply enter in their reservation #’s for their hotel stay and it would let them through! I hadn’t yet read if it was successful for anyone though, so I figured I’d try. Well- when I went to the site, Disney.go.beourguestlunch.com (I believe) it indeed asked for a reservation #...however it has to be a longer one with all #’s…my Magic your way package gave me a reservation that consisted of #’s and letters, but my single day hotel only stay was a regular numeric reservation. So I entered that one and indeed it let me pick a date and time, as well as pre-order the lunches we want! Score! But the catch is it doesn’t give you an ADR!! It just says that your confirmed! That’s it. So I wasn’t sure how it would go…

Upon arrival at BOG there was a huge line already, despite it just barely opening. I do want to note that it was sooo hot and sunny at this point, and the BOG CM’s were soooooo nice! They had huge umbrella’s for the guests to use to block the sun while they waited. So we went ahead and went to the check in area before the bridge, I let them know we had a confirmed time, and they asked for my yellow rose. What?!?! I knew nothing about a yellow rose. Apparently you were supposed to first go check in over by Mickey’s Philharmagic FP area and the people there would give you a yellow rose that you bring back. In the couple minutes it took me to learn this the line was now passed the bridge and starting to creep over towards Gaston’s!! Gasp! Noooo! Lucky for me the CM’s there, as I stated before, are awesome! They told us if we wanted to re-order our meals they wouldn’t worry about the rose! Score! So they sent us in, we got to pass the line and we just had to put in our order again, no biggie!

The castle was amazing!!

I was walking while snapping that shot, so sorry for the sucky quality!

Again, with the detail!! We waited in a teeny line once inside for an available kiosk to place our order. A kiosk opened up and we walked up, scanned one of our keys, and then we placed our orders, viola! You are the given a red rose that is like a gps, so that the waiters can bring the food straight out to your table, without knowing where you sat! So cool!

I already knew where I wanted to sit, the West Wing, so we went straight over (it was seat yourself at this point since they were not full yet, after the tables are full, the staff pretty much seat you when one comes open) and we luckily found 3 open tables left in the West Wing! Yahoo! We found one and then I ran Liv to the restroom.

At the table we sat our rose down and everyone grabbed their drinks. Another awesome thing about the West Wing, is because it is smaller, the drink station in that room is always very close, and we sat right next to it! I noted the drink station in the main Ballroom could be a hassle depending on where you sat due to the huge size of it, so just remember that!! The refills are FREE here! Woot!!

I was lucky to find some very good sweet tea (my drink, every meal, if I can help it!) so I had a couple refills of that! It was literally like maybe 5 minutes and they were already wheeling our food out! Soooo fast! Everything was delicious, and again we were SUPER impressed! I mean this was a quick service meal! The equivalent of a hot dog or burger! My gosh! Disney is amazing! This meal was amazing!

Chris got some sort of pork roast thing…which he said was awesome. He got the chocolate cream puff for dessert! Again, amazing.

I got the roast beef sandwich and the chocolate cupcake, which was the BEST cupcake! It was sooooo rich, I couldn’t eat half. Insane!

Olivia, funny girl, insisted on the Mahi Mahi!! I know right, I don’t think she’s ever had Mahi Mahi, and I we don’t eat a lot of fish, because I hate it, but she really wanted it, so be it! She loved it, ate it all, and Maddie had some. Her meal came with a peach applesauce, a bread, and fries. It was a weird cracker bread, and it looked moldy, haha, but that’s how it was supposed to look.

Everyone else had some form of the sandwich and cream puffs as well. We all agreed it was an awesome meal in the most awesome setting!!

After we ate, I walked around the WW to grab a few pics. The rose in particular was too freakin’ cool!!

Maddie started to get a little fussy (naptime!) so I took her out of the restaurant to walk in the stroller while everyone else finished up.

Yup, napping in NO TIME! 

While waiting for the group I got to see Cinderella’s step-mom and eveil step-sisters! As well as a jaunty little group of performers!

Only in Disney!

After the rest of the group made it out of the restaurant but not before Chris caught this pic…

Next, we headed back to Frontierland! Splash Mountain was beckoning us!! Maddie, luckily, fell asleep, so she got some good sleep in while the rest of took turns on Splash! Olivia’s “special shoes” did the trick.

If you’re unaware, Olivia was about an inch or two right under the 40’ height requirement for a lot of rides, so I added some extra cushion to her shoes and it put her right at the 40’ exactly! She was so happy to ride and had a blast.

However, we had one “scary” moment when our log froze and got stuck in a pile up right before the big hill, and we were left sitting under the talking vultures for several minutes. Olivia was not a fan of the “scary birds” but the hill was a HUGE hit!

After the ride I learned I couldn’t just get a PP for the ride photo, that I needed to have my PP+ already with me if I wanted to add it on, well darn, I hadn’t had a chance to stop and pick the bugger up yet, so we sadly do not have a photo of our first time on Splash!! Boo! But its okay, Olivia, Chris and I were in the last row, and you couldn’t even see Olivia, just her hair bow! So no biggie.

After that, Maddie woke up, so I let her and Liv run around in the play area under the bridge by Splash, while the other half of our group rode.

This was frightening, I hate having two kids running in opposite directions with so many other people around! But it’s alright because I had Chris to help me watch, or so I thought, because here is where we realized something HORRIFYING!!!

{Que the creepy music}
DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNN!

Next, The One Where we Oops!

Ok, so we just made a very startling realization! Apparently Chris assumed that I had grabbed our video camera when I left with Maddie from BOG, well I hadnt. And well, its very dark in the West Wing, and Chris didnt notice it still slung over his chair, and it was left!

Our first day and we already lost the brand new camera!! Ahhhh! Needless to say, Chris ran back to BOG leaving me with the two littles running around like crazies! :scared:

You dont even know, but you can probably imagine, how I feeling about this. Please, please, please let it be there!

Lo and behold, about ten minutes later Chris texted me I got it! and I could breathe once again!! Praise the Lord! Chris returned a few minutes later, camera in tow, and said that the CM found it still hanging on the chair, even though another family was already seated there! Thank goodness for the dark WW!!!!

About this time the rest of the group returned from their trip through the Breer patch, and we were once again ready to go explorin! Sadly, Big Thunder Mountain had been closed all day, so we had to skip it for now.

But thats okay, because there were certain happy haunts just beckoning me to come play&

So we headed straight over to the Haunted Mansion! I just loved this Liberty Square area that you pass through&so cool!

And soon we were at our haunted destination!

Olivia was pretty scared when we first entered. I had to hold her, which is getting hard for me to do, but I knew there was no way she was going to let me set her down. After about a 10 minute wait we finally made it up to our doom buggy! Again, Chris, Olivia, Maddie and I were able to share one vehicle, and Olivia did much better once I pointed out the ghosts were happily singing and dancing! We all made it out alive, without ending up the 1,000th Happy Haunt, and Olivia was once again smiling.

We decided to head back up towards Fantasyland again for some more rides that Maddie could do! We passed the Rapunzel bathrooms first and stopped there.

These may have just been pottys, but my goodness if they werent the coolest pottys like, ever! I loved all of it!

And I am sure I am not the only crazy person snapping pictures inside the restroom either!

I loved all of Rapunzels beautiful murals she did in there! J

After gushing over the bathrooms for some time we parked the stroller and went to what would now become Maddies absolute favorite ride, Its a Small World!

Again, we basically walked on, and in no time were heading around the globe to witness multi-cultural children singing one of the most beloved, and annoying, songs in all of history! Maddie was IN LOVE! She pointed, and clapped, and cooed throughout this ride. It was a hit for her! The rest of us enjoyed it as well, of course, because its adorable and a classic.

Hard to tell but Olivia was in that last one&hahah!

After getting that song drilled in our head for all of eternity we walked over to Peter Pan next! Another great classic that the kids and adults all loved!

By this time we were getting into later afternoon about 2:15ish, and getting a little weary. We had a long travel day the day before and did quite a bit in this morning already. I suggested we head back to Main Street so I could do our PP+ finally, and we could look around the shops.

Once we got to Main Street it became clear that a parade was going to be starting soon, because people were lined up all along the streets. So I ran and did the PP+ and Chris scoped out a spot for the parade. We found an un-occupied area of curb on the shady side of the street and waited patiently for the parade.

I hadnt set out time for us to view the parades, because I didnt want to be completely schedule driven, but happening upon them was awesome. I loved this one, the Celebrate song was adorable, and there were soooo many characters!

Maddie and Olivia were pointing, clapping, waving and smiling like crazy the entire parade. TONS of the characters on the ground stopped by to shake our hands and give Maddie a pat, because, lets face it, my girls are gorgeous, and no one can resist! I wish I had my camera ready because Chip, Dale, Apu, Tweedle Dee, Jessie, Woody, and more all stopped by to my girls personally! I was shocked and in awe. I LOVE DISNEY!

When it got around to the last two floats, it started raining. Me and the girls stayed put and literally when the last float made it by us the sky opened up and it began to POUR! So we ducked for cover into the Emporium on Main!

We browsed the goodies until the rain let up and then had a small group meeting. Should we keep exploring the park, after all, we have had yet to see Adventureland or Tomorrowland, or should we catch a ride to Downtown Disney to eat and relax a bit?

Hmmmmm&..

Next, The One With the Cheesecake

Well we were all pretty worn by now, and we knew we had two more days in Magic Kingdom, and they would not be quite as flexible due to all our ADR’s, so we opted for DTD! It could be our only chance to go, after all!

Since there are no buses from the park to DTD, we took the monorail over to the Contemporary Resort, and hopped a bus to DTD from there!

The Contemporary is pretty cool, and we passed Chef Mickey’s while looking for the buses, so we were glad to know where it was for our ADR later in the week!

Once we found the bus area we waited about fifteen minutes and just relaxed on the benches. It was actually quite nice, no one else was there waiting for a bus, and after the rain a wonderful thing happens, it gets COOL! :cool1: Yay! We enjoyed the overcast and the breeze happily on our benches while we waited!

We hopped on the bus once it arrived and in hardly any time we were at DTD. The bus stop put us right next to where I planned to eat when I made it to DTD, so we decided to head there first! Where did we end up??

Wolfgang Puck Express!

This place is AMAZING! Seriously! EAT HERE!!! It is like high class food using only your fast food credit!! AMAZING!! We placed our order and the guy accidently gave me the receipt with the prices we would have paid if not for our DDP…and WOW! This is one expensive fast food meal! $66! This is definitely one of the best uses for your DDP!!

Not to mention the food is outta this world!! Chris got a pizza (some sort of meat lovers type) and Crème Brule. All delicious and outstanding!

I had the margherita pizza and the cheesecake. Delish, especially the cheesecake!

Olivia and Maddie had the grown up mac n’ cheese with a cookie! I tried this, it was GOOOOOOOOD! However, cookie wasn’t as good as that delicious cheesecake, if I had known I’d love it so much I would have gotten Liv the cheesecake too!!

**Important to note if you don’t already know- table service credits are allotted as either adult or child credits….quick service meals are not. So kids can get an adult meal, it doesn’t matter!!

Everyone else had a pizza too! I should tell you also, that these pizzas were a good size; you could easily share them if you weren’t starving! And then you would save a dining credit!

After our delicious meal Maddie was ready to leave, so I once again grabbed her to walk around (making sure I had the camera!) while everyone else finished up. It had begun to rain again, so we ran across to the closest store, a kitchen store!

I, for one, loooove kitchen gadgets, so this store was fun for me! I took some photos of a couple things I adored in particular!

After the group was done we headed into the Christmas shop! Again, I just browsed. I knew I wanted a Christmas ornament, but I had seen them in MK also, so I didn’t rush to buy one yet. You’ll soon learn that I pretty much waited until our last day to buy most our souvenirs! Silly girl I am…

Next up was the Pin Traders store! This one was fun because Olivia got to have her hand at pin trading for the first time!

She was hooked after that! We all were!

And I loveeeeeed these beautiful works of art!

Next was Once Upon a Toy. This store is fun, but everything I kept seeing seemed like things I was seeing everywhere, nothing special, and the toys in particular were things you could find around other stores locally or at your own Disney store, so again, no purchases.
After the toy store, Margo and her clan were starting to feel the pain of walking all day, so they agreed to take Maddie back with them to the resort while Chris, Olivia and I kept the stroller and stayed shopping.

We headed through TrenD, and then Team Mickey before Chris grabbed a coffee and we all got free chocolate samples at Ghirardelli before making our way to my destination: World of Disney!!

My goodness, you could get lost in this store! I always tell people it’s like a Bass Pro Shop, but for Disney. If you don’t know what a Bass Pro is, I am sorry, but it’s a GIANT outdoor store, and they are huge, as is WOD. Olivia got to sneak a peek at all the little girls in the BBB! Eeeep!

Afterward we went to the Lego Store and browsed and took a few pics there.

Then we happened upon one of those painted people who look like a statue but then they move, so we watched them for a bit before decided we wanted another treat and headed over to Goofy’s Candy Co.

Talk about sugar rush! I couldn’t even decide so I ended up not getting anything. Does that ever happen to you? It’s like sometimes there is too much selection so you just opt out altogether! Well that was me, a decision I would later regret, repeatedly. Olivia however was told she could pick one thing and she decided on a glacier freeze drink thing, a half blue, half pink one! While we waited in line for it we admire this statue of the Goof, which Olivia insisted she had to touch to see if the ice was really cold! (it was not!)

I should say also, this was our first snack credit used, and it was a good deal too, seeing as this drink cost like $4.99 (I think)…but it was definitely close to the $5 mark! Also, very yummmmmy!

We walked around lazily, sipping off Livi’s drink, before calling it a night and hopping a bus back to AoA. I got a super special surprise as we boarded our bus!! The driver, who happened to be named Terry, was a sweet older man and he SANG me Happy Birthday, word for word! Sooooo sweet!! I was all smiles for our ride back!

Once we were back to our Disney home, we headed to our room where we found this sight!

Liv found it to be too funny that her Princess bear had, apparently, been watching tv while we were gone!

Daddy then went and grabbed Maddie, who was asleep by now. Maddie stayed out so we put her straight to bed. (We had sent Margo with one of our room keys to get in and get her night clothes) But Olivia wanted to help me decorate our window, which we were too tired to do the night before.

Someone had asked me to measure the window, and sadly I forgot to do that before we left, so I apologize. I hope the pics give you a better idea though! We ended up sticking our pins that we were keeping in the window, and that some became a nightly tradition! As well as any towel creations!

After getting Olivia in bed and then getting ready ourselves, I again, packed up the bag for the next day and got all our stuff ready to go for the next morning.

It was about midnight after I uploaded our pics for the day and did my live Dis update and soon after I was off to dreamland ready for our next fun-filled day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!!

Today’s Recap:

Today was a wonderful first day. We didn’t get to see nearly everything I had hoped too, but that didn’t bother me too much, knowing we’d be back to MK two more times. Plus, it left parts of the park to still be discovered, which is always fun! Every morsel of food was delicious and every expectation was blown away. I couldn’t be happier with our experience in MK!

Must come back to give a proper response but I wanted to say that your TR is great. I love the recap with the ratings and the summary of what you did. So smart. :)

Holy update Batman!

I don't even know where to start...hold on, let me wipe the tears out of my eyes.

Is that welcome show at MK just amazing?? I have seen it a bunch of times now and I still tear up EVERY SINGLE TIME. I don't know what it is specifically about it, it just tugs at my heart.

I am so glad you had such a great first day. Be Our Guest lunch is fabulous. I knew nothing about the yellow rose, but we didn't pre-order, so I guess that's why. We didn't get to use the touch kiosk to order, we just told the lady at the cash register what we wanted and she rung it up. Maybe because we weren't on the dining plan?? :confused3

So, you saw the step sisters and you didn't go meet them??! I looked and looked for them and never caught them. It was one of my highest goals this trip and I missed it. Can't believe you didn't go meet them! They are a hoot.

Well, great updates...more please!

Yes that opening was wonderful! I loved the Mayor and everything!

BOG was fantastic! That's weird about the kiosks! Yea I guess you're right tho...

And they were clearly coming or going to something (the step sisters) so I didn't follow only bc I was waiting on my family- lol otherwise I probably would have! Lol!

My daughter (sweatpeaandevie) told me about your TR so I had to come check it out.Still catching up but I wanted to say Hi before going back to read more.:dance3:

oh wow!!!! that just got me sooooooo excited about going (and still 13 months to go :(........oh well)

everything is great, I love the way you write and all of the details!!! Thank you

up next the one where you get a lot done..... I thought that's what we just read :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

btw, the only thing Greg noticed was the price on the receipt....hahahahaha

You know, I never use the wake up calls. Honestly, I'm used to using my phone alarm, and it scares the bejeezus out of me when the normal phone rings! :lmao:

You definitely started your trip off right by getting there in time to watch the welcome show. That will make even the most stoic person tear up!

Awww, Olivia's prince charming is her daddy and he's the bravest in her kingdom?

That definitely is a great picture.

Disney always have Gold Peak sweet tea, which is amazing!

I'm glad you found your camera! I had a scare similar to that one year in WDW too. Sadly, it was only because my brother is a dummy and had it at the bottom of his bag and didn't look for it thoroughly enough!

The WPE cheesecake is insane! Like ridiculous.

Haha! I know that was one expensive fast food meal!! Like I said we used our DDP to the maxxxxx!

And ya know what's funny, looking back I see now we did quite a bit that first day, but honestly that day I felt really disappointed that we didn't do more and that I chose to leave MK early! Our next day was so insane though! We did sooooooooooooo much that even I was impressed, and tired!

Glad you are enjoying the TR, I'm quite fond of writing its a big hobby of mine and I spend a lot of free time writing fictional romance stories ;)

And I'm so glad it's getting you pumped!! When do you go again? The hubs and I decided today we should do late Sept next year so a little over a year away- should be around you?!

Oh and thanks for telling your mama about my TR! ;)

Yea we use our phones alarms as well! We're just tuned to them now..

I wouldn't have missed that welcome show for anything- I'd have left people behind to make it in time! Lol!

And you must know the near heart attack that ensues upon loosing your camera at WDW then! I was reallllllllllly tense! Oy...

Just reading about the opening show made me tear up. Ok I am a sap and Disney makes me cry like a baby all the time because I love it so much. I kind of forgot how much until my daughter wanted to go to the world and I agreed to go Seems crazy how much you can forget if you just live day to day. Can't wait to go to the world and see how it compares to my beloved Disneyland!

I know! I was pretty shocked at the multiple times I got so emotional because I'm not normally like that!

So I told my DH that I was going to bed like a hour ago, but when I got on the DIS and saw you had updates, I HAD to read!! Amazing first day! I can't believe all the magic kingdom goodness! The princesses, BOG (I can't wait to see the rose!), Olivia's cute pose!, splash mountain, meeting ariel.....it's just too much! Your writing is awesome and is making me so excited for our trip so I can see it all again! I'm so glad your PP cd came! Awesome updates!!
P.S. I don't blame you for not getting wake up calls. When that hotel phone rings it's scares me half to death and all the rest of my family sleeps through it anyway. Giving yourself a heart attack is no way to start the day! ;)

Bahahahaha! Sorry to keep you up! But I know how you feel, many a night I stay up too late on the Dis!!

Glad you're enjoying it! There is so much good stuff to come still!!! 7 more days of Disney goodness!! Woohoo ;)

So, I started reading your updates last night, and finished off this morning.

Again - I have no idea where to start...

I love, love, love seeing all the magnificant sights again for the first time through your eyes...

The girls are just adorable...

And I love how you tell the story.

Your first day in MK was so memorable... I think this is the same day we were in MK - if I have my dates right? And it looks like we just missed eachother several times.

Your planning and research certainly paid off - as you accomplished more in your first day than we did on our first TRIP. LOL

I cannot wait to hear about the rest of your days! I am loving this so far!

D~
