My family is doing a quick, 2 night trip staying at All Star Sports the weekend after Thanksgiving. We are not getting park tickets, but only MVMCP tickets. We've never done a trip like that - will they send us magic Bands? Do we even need them? Will I need to order them?

If you're staying at a Disney resort, you should have the ability to order a magic band on mde since it will be your room key. Then you can link your party tickets to those mb using mde.

If you don’t order magic bands, you will get grey ones. Declining them means declining customization.

actually if you decline you won't get one at all. I've declined them on several trips before they started doing the bands with designs, I already had all the colors, multiples of some, and didn't want any more. I declined for two trips in a row and received no magic band grey or otherwise. I already have bands, I'm sure they can see that, so who knows, but maybe they keep some bands or cards tucked away in case someone shows up with no band and has zero way to get in their room.

It has recently changed. Now, declining only means you are declining to choose a color and will be sent or receive gray bands once you check in.

I declined one in August when I went for the AP GE preview since I had just been two weeks prior and received an upgraded band, didn’t receive a grey one. Has it changed in the last month?

Sounds like as per usual anything but consistent.

The place on the website where you decline them has moved, but what happens if you decline them does not--you should not receive any if you decline. That said, there have always been glitches. I received two identical sets of colored magic bands for my upcoming stay! I expect that the person who received grey bands either had a similar glitch or declined them after they'd already been prepared for shipping.

We just did this last year, i needed the band for the hotel key. We linked our tickets to them cause we could... once inside the only thing they were good for was pics and videos on rides. There were no lines no fast passes.... but i guess you could buy stuff from the shops
