Okay now you have struck a cord with me!!!! Turkey legs are in fact Turkey!!!! If they were emu they would be much longer. Have any of you ever seen an emu??? The legs are bought through Jennie-O the people who make turkey lunch meat. If any of you have ever had a big family you would know that turkey's can have big legs. They are smoked and cured the same way ham is! Stop it with the darn EMU rumor. Take this challenge- go to the zoo and look at an emu! Then fo have a turkey for dinner the bones would not match up!!

OK, then why did Walt have the secret emu ranch in Fullerton? These are not standard sized emu, they are much smaller, a pigmy variety that was bio-engineered in the mid 1950's. They foresaw the rising price of poultry and responded by creating the new breed. There are countless records of corporate closed-door discussion on the subject. We can look to the mysterious deaths of several high level execs who were poised to spill the beans. This goes way beyond rumor. This is bordering on conspiracy. Oh yes, they're emu all right.

hmmm... as a cast member for more then 10 years I can tell you Walt being frozen is just as silly as the legs being emu. I served those legs for several years in the beginning and still do some overtime at an Leg stand- get a grip

Actually, I don't much care if they are emu or turkey! I like both meats, the legs are huge and delicious. I have no doubt these are truly turkey legs since I saw the size of the drums we would get on the large fresh turkeys I would buy when I lived in New England.

But if you think about it, it must be genetically altered bird. I mean I dont know the capacity of people at one time at WDW during the busiest time of the year. But each bird had 2 legs an if 10% of the population in WDW eat a leg over the course of the day. That is a lot of birds. I man what do they do with the rest of the bird.? I think they do make some time of genetically altered animal or just legs for mass consumption. I bet they sell 500 legs a day thats 250 birds * 365 days a year. Wow where do they get all those birds from???

Don't get so Emu-tional. I have a leg up on the public, and I am sworn to secrecy about those legs..those succulent, fragrant, delicious portions of pretend poultry.
And when Walt walks out of the castle on his birthday, holding Mickeys hand..Then all will know!

There is no possible way for the park to advertise Turkey Legs and give you Emu or anything else. Can you imagine
the lawsuits if someone was allergic to Emu (hey... it could happen!) They could pass something off if it was non edible
merchandise... but you can't tell people that they are eating turkey if they aren't.

I have 2 things to add to this discussion. My first expierence with the turkey legs was in 1995. They were delicious, juicy, and filling. I have had at least one on every return trip since (4 in all). Second thing is someone asked about all the turkey legs and what happens to the rest of the bird. I have 2 words for you. HOT WINGS. Now, either their are alot of no legged little chickens pushing themselves around with their beaks, or they use them in other things. (Can you say McNuggets) So, I assume they use the remainder of the turkey in things like deli meats.
