I have been to WDW many many times and I never think to try the turkey legs I have heard so much about.

To all of you that have had one....Are they as good as I hear they are? I even saw a show on The Food Network that talked about these turkey legs.

While I am at the MK do you suggest that I stop and try one?? I am curious on how they are, but not curious enough if all of you discourage it.

Please fill me in --- Thanks!!!!

Oh. Yes. DO NOT miss those in Frontierland. They are also sold at AK, but that just seems soooo wrong so we never get them there. I get the barbecue sauce on the side. Be prepared for a big ol' mess.

I'm sure I will be in the minority on this but we finally had turkey legs on our last trip and won't have them again. Found far too much fat inside the meat. Ended up pulling the fat away from the meat and making a really big mess. If I was on a picnic, it might be fun but not at WDW.

You know, I was always sort of grossed out by the idea of the turkey legs. I couldn't stand the thought of all the MEAT with nothing else. But then DH was in the mood for one on our last trip, and we ended up sharing it. It was GOOD! Awesome flavor, juicy, not terribly fatty. Yes, they are messy. But it was well worth it. We had that for lunch and then went over to Adventureland for a Dole Whip. An all-around great meal!

It's a must-do for DH and my Mom, go figure! While the family is having a nice sit-down at Cosmic Ray's to get out of the sun, DH is off and running to get his turkey leg, lol.

One friend of mine got one and hated it - but he doesn't like smoked meat.

I look forward to those Turkey legs more the anyting else at DW. Makes a mess, but well worth it. So popular that they opened a Turkey Leg consession bldg in MGM bwtween TOT and RR.

I have a friend who won't go to WDW without getting a Turkey leg or two, but I don't like them at all.
I found them to be dry, with a very strong smoke taste. I don't like ham at all and they havd a very strong ham taste to me. I think it was the smoke flavoring that they use.
So now I get the Chicken Wrap at Pecos Bills and he gets the Turkey leg. And a large cole of course, those things are salty. Peggie

DH was dying to try them, he LOVES turkey, and had heard and read great things about it, not to mention the whole story on the Food Channel about them. They were a disappointment to us, very fatty, and much to our surprise...tasted like ham...isnt that weird. I thought we were just strange, but good to see we werent the only ones, they are expensive too, I forget prices though. We decided to make lunch out of Mickey ice cream bars instread. :)

Oh, we had ours in Tomorrowland.

Sounds like lots of mixed views, perhaps, getting one and splitting it and if you like it, go back to get your own??

DH had heard about the turkey legs for so long, but just never had the opportunity to try one until our last trip to WDW. We shared it, but didn't finish it because it got kind of sickening to us after about half of it. Maybe it was the smoked flavor, I don't know, but DH feels that if he'd ever tried it, he'd always be feeling he was missing out on something great, so he was glad he did. I think you need to try one yourself and see if you like it - lots of people love them! ::yes::

I always have my Turkey Leg at least once on every trip, they are so good. I always get it from the stand in Frontierland.

Let me just say that I am NOT a vegetarian. I love turkey. I always eat turkey at Thanksgiving, etc. But those turkey legs gross me out. I can barely stand to look at them. A girl was eating one in front of us in line once and the smell almost made me sick! I am not sure why but they really turn my stomach.

Sorry ...

But I love dole whips!

I always get one at MGM. Head towards the Tower of Terror and the stand is on the left. I love them, but they are huge. My DH will never split one with me, so it ends up being my entire meal. Last Sept I stopped to get one before the park closed (we'd been too busy to eat dinner) and the CM was giving them away 2 for 1... would have been great except DH doesn't like dark meat... oh well.

Oh,yes, they are a must have whenever my DH and I go to MK. They are delicious and messy! I also feel they are the best food deal in the park. They are 4 or 5 dollars , we always split oneand we are never hungry when we're done (just thirsty). ;)

Sorry. I got 2 of them for our last trip, The "skin" to me was rubbery and fatty, and it seemed like aLOT of fatty parts, that were extra rubbery..
We did not like them at all..

But We did enoy those Bever Tails at Epcot.. YUMMY!!

Hmmm... that post about the 2 for one special makes me think that next time we're in MK watching the fireworks, we might just meander over to the Turkey leg cart and gobblegobble!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_4_25.gif' alt='Turkey' border=0></a>

My DH got one about 3 yrs ago. I thought, Oh grossssss.... and he teased me going, Ohh, this is sooo good.. You don't know what you're missing! So I asked for a taste. Yeah, right, he says! Get Your Own, Woman! Finally he let me have a scrap of it. Hmmmm... rather tasty, I thought! So next trip, nothing would do, I get a Turkey leg while me and our 2 yr old dd are in MK. Well, that little sabateur dd of mine -- I think she ate half of it!

So now it's a must-do. And 2 for one, eh? I'd take that deal in a heartbeat! With my luck, they will sell out well before closing... then I'd get NO turkey at all! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_9_2.gif' alt='Teary' border=0></a>

We had one the year the cart first showed up in Frontierland, and they were very good, mildly smoked with a taste and texture similar to a Smithfield ham.

On our next trip two years later, we were very disapointed by the change. As others have said, the skin was rubbery, the meat was greasy, and the legs had been more heavily smoked than before, probably to cover up the poor quality of the leg. We ate about half of it, and retired the remainder to the nearest trash can.:(
