Hi everyone,

I just returned from a week in Orlando and spent 4 days at US/IOA and 2 days at Disney. I had seen on this board that Turkey Lake Rd was a shortcut from Disney to Universal and vice versa. We were staying at the Days Inn by Universal. We decided to try Turkey Lake Rd as an alternate route to Disney instead of I-4. Well if you are unfamiliar with Disney property this is not a shortcut. The directions into Disney are unclear where Turkey Lake ends at Disney. We did find the Disney entrance without too much trouble, but it was the entrance to the Disney resorts, and there was a world of traffic lights to go through to get to the parks. We estimate that this route added 20 to 30 minutes to the drive. Maybe if we were more familiar with Disney property we would have known roads to take to avoid the lights. So that is why I am warning anyone who might be contemplating this route.

In summary, it is always good to know an alternate route, but if you are unfamiliar with Disney roads stick with I-4. Of course if you know there is heavy traffic, a wreck, construction, or some other good reason to take the alternate route, take it! ----Also we were in Orlando during a moderate to light attendance period (the last week of April). ---Hope this helps.

Hi Regeina,
I don't remember the name of the DaysInn but it was right off of Major Blvd just down from the Radisson. As far as rooms go it was adequate ---clean. The vanity counter had some cosmetic problems and the air conditioner knob needed replacing (but it worked). The property is very close to a major road ---I think it was I-4, but we were on the end away from the road; so noise was not a problem. It's about a 15 to 20 minute walk to CityWalk.

Yep, I think that's the one. I got a very cheap rate and we are adventurers we don't need all the bells and whistles as long as it is clean. We just want a place to rest before we're off again :bounce:

I think this route works best if you find yourself at the Crossroads Shopping Centger, near the entrance to the Disney resorts, and I-4 is a parking lot. At a time like that, the shortcut can save you a lot of time.
