Turkey Day Gang 2009

I haven't "officially" started packing yet but I have started throwing things in the suitcase as I can. Bought some sunscreen the other day before the stores don't have anymore. Bought the boys some new shorts/t-shirts on sale so they'll have some clean, new clothes to wear. All of this is going right to the suitcase. When I need to pack away summer clothes, they will go to the suitcase instead of being put away.

It'll make packing for the trip so fun.

Reminder: Between Diversions and the Ariel screen. there will be plenty of football on the ship...

Man, mention numbers, go away for a weekend and it is 10 pages later...

Wendy, packing already? be serious...:) ....we will start packing the night before we drive to the port...

Now I am too wired to sleep....what a football game...

Not packing yet. Not by a long shot.... We just picked up a few fish extender items....

Glad your family had a nice Labor Day Weekend...

Phew....I found all of our passports this morning! I knew where Steve's was...I thought I knew where Andrew's was...but I was clueless about mine!

I convinced myself this morning that I needed to begin looking for it today so that if I didn't I could go and get new photos taken and get an application in the mail for a replacement passport by the end of the week. Fortunately, I found it with my tourism information from Lisbon!

Now, I have the passports all together in our little portfolio with all our other vacation documents. Phew!

(Now, I just need to deal with an unsympathetic husband who said last night when I told him I couldn't find my passport, "Well honey, Andrew and I will really miss you on the cruise." You'd think after 20 years of marriage he would know that I'm gonna get even with him for that one! Hmmmm... I see a cruise with all winter clothes packed for him.....or maybe I'll forget his underwear....or perhaps......bwah...ha...ha! I will come up with an evil plan yet!)

Hello all!
3 cheers for a 4 day work week :cheer2:

Now if only I didn't have to cram 5 days worth of work into it!

I've had dog-sitting duty all weekend and all week so I have been running back & forth to DexH's to take the beloved border collie out. (The dog came over for a "visit" on Saturday but one my two cats got so freaked out he had a poopie accident and I swear the other one lost a pound of fur freaking out.)

I almost slipped over the weekend when DD asked if we would be getting the same Castaway Club gift as we got in June and I said "yeah" but that Dad might not get a lanyard.... WHOOOOPSSS. :scared1: I backtracked and was like, "wow? what am I talking about, Dad's not coming. what would have made me say that? guess Mom needs a nap..." Hopefully DD didn't catch on.

Wishin' I was cruising, folks.

Ate lunch a bit ago and now I need a nap! (Guess I'm off to search for some caffeine!)

Just chiming in from the weekend....

Was having a great, quiet, relaxing weekend when I came home yesterday to find my 12 year old Australian Shepherd struggling to breath. Of course my DH was gone on his motorcycle and the vet wasn't open. I had to rush him to the emergency animal hospital in the next county. I had decided on the way that this was it and I didn't want him to suffer anymore:sad1:. Once they gave him a sedative to try to relax him, his poor heart just stopped. I had him for almost 13 years and he was my baby long before I had kids. My heart is broken right now and I definitely need this cruise to help me get through the day! I was so tired of crying last night and I kept telling myself "think about the cruise" over and over again to get my mind off of it. Sorry to post a sad note, but my heart is definitely heavy today.:sad2:

Lynn, I am so very sorry to hear about your dog. As a mom to a 13.5 year old boxer mix, I am significantly touched by your message and my heart breaks for you. It is so tough to watch our furry kids age.

You and your family are in my thoughts.... :grouphug:

Lynn, sorry about your loss.

Try to tell yourself he's probably in a better place and is no longer suffering.

It is OK to grief. Don't fight it and let your emotion go. Sometimes it is better to deal with it than try to forget about it. Rather than holding it in just have a good cry and let things out. Then tell yourself you will move on and count your other blessings. Don't link the cruise with this event, or you may not enjoy it while subconciously being reminded.

There are many other things to be thankful for. Use this experience to cherish the things that you have.

Just my opinion, but it has helped me many times in the past.

Well I finally realized that I had not booked any excursions:scared1: I now have para sailing at CC booked:cool1:( still bummed that they do not offer the banana boat ride any more) I think that we will just get a cab to a beach in ST and SM. Maybe Captain Nauticas again in ST I will have to see what the girls want to do.

Oh Lynn,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my Maddie 3 years ago -- she was 19 -- and I cried and cried for days! I still cry today when I think of her...and then I remember how she was THE Queen and I laugh!

How about some shopping on one of the islands? And, I don't mean cuban cigars or rum!

Lynn-- I am so sorry. For us people who have furry children, we understand what that kind of loss feels like. There are still times I cry when I think about our Golden Retriever we lost 5 yrs ago. He was almost 16.

Lynn,

We are sorry for your loss.

My daughter loves her (dad's) dog and, in fact, calls him her "furry brother."

We feel for you and send you hugs :grouphug:

Lynn,
We will keep you and your family in our prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. With children, it makes the loss even worse. Remember the good times you've had with the furry one.

Hmmmm....(considering diamond earings)....nah...not evil enough!!! (Echoing evil laugh in the background) Bwa ha ha!

(((( Lynn and Family ))))

it is so hard to let our furry babies go - my thoughts and prayers are with you!!

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers! I'm kinda numb right now but am going to try to take it one day at a time. We lost our Cassi at 12 just 11 months ago and I was still mourning her! Now I have one more left who's 11, but he's going strong. He just seems so depressed too. When we get back from the cruise, I will rescue another one. I don't want to ask my mom to puppy sit a new dog. Plus, it will give us something to look forward to when the cruise is over (besides Christmas). I'm trying very hard to net let the last 12+ years of great memories be overshadowed by that last hour. Thanks again for listening and understanding.

Lynn

Scullysiz - I just noticed you live in Columbia. That's where we used to live. We used to live in Sewells Orchard which is right behind Owen Brown and Oakland Mills. We moved out to Carroll County 7 years ago.
--Awesome! We live near Long Reach, a few streets over from Tamar. It's a quiet neighborhood that is tucked away from the main drag. So, you will be on the Turkey Cruise? We have a DS-8 1/2 and DS-5. Exciting to have someone so close!

When Lisa's pomeranian passed on, she lasted 4 whole days until she hit the pound and a few days later, we had an 80 lb black lab completely housebroken....until Mason was declared allergic, but Zeke still doing well w/some friends we gave him too...and yes the pound was not happy, but he was far more spoiled this way...

As to Columbia, MD, I am from Pikesville originally..
