Turf Club... is lounge area going away

I have never toured SSR, only seen it from the outside, and done the virtual tours. I think it is great that SSR is going to have a table service restaurant, something it clearly needed. However, I liked all the pictures of the Turf Club as is, a loungey, classy grown-up bar area. Are all those chairs and couches and the billiard table going away to make room for tables? Or are they expanding into another area for the tables and leaving the lounge as is?

Just curious. Obviously it's great to have a full-service restaurant but I'd hate for it to be at the expense of the lounge.

Since I haven't seen the area in person maybe someone can explain it a little better.

I think if they needed to expand it would be in the outside area - or towards the lobby - all that seating room.

when I was there it had plenty of seating room - just not enough customers.

lots of people were taking their food with them.

The Turf Club is great, I agree! A castmember, long before it was announced that a TS restaurant would be on property, said they had unused space adjacent to the Turf Club (and behind the Artist's Palette kitchen, I believe). Maybe that's where it is scheduled to be?

When we were there in Nov, the bartender told us that the Turf Club was staying as is, and that the entrance to the sit down would be through the door that takes you out to the patio...they were putting in a hostess stand there in a hallway type area (remodeled of course). The restaurant itself will be right behind the AP kitchen with seating outside as well. Hope it is done in May...if not there's always Oct!!

We were there just a couple of weeks ago. The Lounge was still there, already offering an expanded menu. So you could have a sit down meal now, if you wish, though likely only burgers and few other options at the moment. (Folks will recall that it used to be mostly just bar food). I doubt that they would get rid of it as it was being used pretty heavily for socializing, drinking, pool games and football watching. DH and I go there regularly and always have a great time. The woman working there seemed to think it would be adjacent to, not instead of. Probably using part of that patio that you cut through in order to get down to the dock for the boat to Downtown Disney . . . no one uses that space much at the moment . . .

This is area used to be Seasons Restuarant during the DI time frame and before that during the Village era another restaurant that the name has escaped me, but both were large restaurants, so I feel sure there is enough room for a sit down and the bar/lounge area.

When it's finished I think this will be a very nice dining/bar/lounge area. ::yes::
