It's that time of year again! If you are new to us, come on in! This is the time of year where we stay up for ages online and talk about a show to which most of us enjoy. And have the rest of the DIS stare at us and wonder what we are on. :lmao: Kidding. ;) But seriously come on in. We'll be glad you visited. :)

This Series of Torchwood Promises to be exciting all over again. Hopefully now that is on BBC 2 it won't be as mind blowing as the last was. Bigger Audience Bigger budget. :rotfl: I've already seen some of the previews and it looks fantastic. :yay: Bring on Wednesday the 16th! :lmao:

Until then, I'll leave this Topic open so that Andrew can give us the Gossip on Torchwood stuff this Series, as well as some Doctor Who if we get the time. Let the Obsession commence!

This is the Master, Signing off. :)

I'm ready to hit series record on my sky box - should be fun!

We never got to see the last couple of episodes of series one. Does anyone know if they will be repeated? Will it be okay just to go onto series 2 without these episodes or will we be missing something important?

Susan

Woo-hoo :yay:

Just seen your post, Master, and got very excited! I didn't know the new date and haven't seen any previews, so it is a good job I have you and the Emperor Dalek (and you too, Ace) to keep me on track.

Roll on the 16th :)

Hi

you might know this but some info

Martha now passed exams and recruited to work for Unit will be in the series in Feb.

Series starts with Captain Jack missing, ( we know where he has been) and an Alien driving around in a sports car with rest of Torchwood after it, thewy get into a stand off, guess who saves them!

Jack has solved his issues with the Doctor so is more happy and jokey like good old jack when we first saw him.

Captain John, -James Masters, is a time agent like Jack, and his x-lover, ''Snog warning''.

The series has a connection running through it rather than individual stories like S1, -''Note ''I have found the Gray''.Written by Chris Chibnall
Captain Jack returns, as the Torchwood team reunite to fight a rogue Time Agent. The mysterious Captain John Hart is determined to wreak havoc, and needs to find something hidden on Earth. But with Gwen's life in danger, and cluster bombs scattered across the city, whose side is Jack on?

The sries will have a BBC2 Edited repeat, Episode 1 will be reshown for kids on BBC2 Wednesday 23rd, then 7pm Thursdays. BBC3 also repeats.

Jack will be in Doctor Who again in the spring for 1 episode, and Martha will also be in it for the later part of the series, with the return of Rose for 3.

Doctor who by the way -Christmas sepcial was the second most watced programme of 2007, only betten by Eastenders.

This weeks Torchwood is up against football on BBC1, not the film ''What Women want''

I've been reading all about this in DH's SFX.

Can't wait for James Masters - they seem to think he might be an occasional character

Well I liked the begining and quite a few bits but I'm not sure what I think overall. How about you?

I liked that ep; it was nice to see what happened to the gang after Jack left. They seem so independant now; like they can make their own decisions and know what they are doing rather than arguing. Still, I think Jack and Gwen will have constant power struggles though.

I laughed at the Star Wars joke. Brillent. :lmao: And the whole plot was brillent. I am glad to have watched it. :)

Bring on two! :yay:

Whilst I like Torchwood, I have to say overall a disappointment,

Firstly the only plot, was exactly as I posted before. Not much there.

They all missed Jack as he was 'away' such a long time, well in Earth time it was days, the full Doctor Who series three, in Earth time was about 4/5 weeks the length of an election campaign already started.

Whilst Jack went a long way with the Doctor they returned just a day after the election, a 'year' did pass due to the 'paradox' machine but everything rewound to the same day, so Jack was away about three days.

Now is there another explanation where he has been, maybe a judge on a talent show for ten weeks?

Back to the show, plot-light, effects-light, ''snog alert'' as I said before, and .....well... nothing else, apart from... remember the ''Grey'', a reference to Jack being away for such a long time, and needing ''just for men''

Likewise, disappointed. Weak plot. Stereotyped "Jack the Lad" brought in because the other characters had become quite flat. Also brought in to add a bit of "love conflict". Also brought in to stick a spanner into the works in future plots.

It had better improve otherwise I'll be off doing something else on a Wednesday evening.

This is the thing about RTD, he is hit or miss, there are some very good and clever scripts, in DW, he can be very good, also in the sub-story, think the Doctors hand from Christmas day 2005, to Torchwood all through series 1, in the background, to a major part in the final three DW's of series 3.

This one was sub standard, but maybe scene setting too much, I am going to stick with it, as there is good stuff to come.

Apologies for the delayed response from me, I was out Wednesday night so watched it last night. Aside from the blowfish driving a car thing, which I thought was a little lame, I really enjoyed it. As I said to my DH though, I am easily pleased, so something has to be really awful for me to criticise it!

I liked the way they brought Jack back in (though I did predict it) and I thought the Grey character was great, a fitting nemesis for Jack. The future episodes look very exciting, though I wish they had shown just a clip of next week because I like to know what is coming next.

Well I only had chance to watch it tonight, and Im easily pleased because I loved it, I laughed out loud on more than one occassion, loved James Marsters in it, what a change from Spike In Buffy/Angel. Great stuff, Im hooked already and cant wait for more:thumbsup2

I agree, he has a great character, I hope he story develops to match it.

Any news on Episode Two, Andrew? :)

I can only give you the Radio times bit:-

2/13 - Sleeper
The shock dial has been given a hefty twist for this gory tale of alien invasion by stealth.

It opens with a couple being burgled and the raiders killed.

The police happily hand the case over to Torchwood when the deaths look abnormal - the injuries are extensive but there's no weapon.

Captain Jack's pack take the chief suspect (an impressive Nikki Amuka- Bird) back to the Hub for interrogation. Somehow a reasoned discourse on human nature is lobbed into the mix, but it sits uneasily amid scenes of torture.

The story wants to be meaningful but slaps down on the side of schlock, so what begins as an intense and claustrophobic mystery ends with violent pandemonium.

A presumably heavily edited version for younger eyes is shown thurs at 7pm. Eps 1 Wed at 7pm on BBC2.

I bet someone makes a pass at someone, with a kiss!

Following week:-

To the Last Man

Time zones are colliding. Toshiko falls in love with a handsome soldier, trapped out of his time. (Well its her turn to fall in love this week!)
who unwittingly holds the key to saving the world,

With an old hospital haunted by ghosts from 1918, a crisis foreseen by Torchwood 90 years ago is about to reach its climax. Time zones are colliding, but, with life-and-death decisions to be made, will Torchwood be able to stop an explosive end for the city of Cardiff? ( and as its Cardiff, who cares?)
