Does anyone know anything about this disease? DH's cousin(44) was just diagnosed with this after she collapsed. She is in the middle of blood transfussion number 2 right now. From what I am reading online it seems like her dire situation right now is common and it is likely that she will recover?
What is happening is her white blood cells are attacking her red. They can not figure out why that is happening. (there are a variety of causes none of which are matching up with her) They are treating her with blood transfussions. It just all is very scary and I was hoping someone has some experience with this rare disease and can give us some hope.
She is a wonderful person and it's so sad to see her not herself. If you could keep her in your thoughts I would be grateful. And if anyone has advice I would love to have some.

, Praying for your cousin and the rest of your family.. Did you mean your cousin has autoimmune thrombocytopenia (ITP)? This is usually associated with an enlarged spleen. It also is often treated with steroids.
