TTC thread take 2

Hi everyone! Just wanted to join all of you if I may. I am 34 and my husband is 35 and we are ttc. I have been on bcp since 9grade due to endometriosis and ovarian cysts. I went off them In May and have had irregular periods since. I went to see my pcp and told her we wanted to have a baby and she just let blew it off. No advice. Nothing. I asked if I should start vitamins or anything and she said not yet. I did start taking a multivitamin with folic acid based on what I have read. I asked her for a referral to an ob gyn and she said she didn't think I needed one yet. I think I need a new pcp. I am also hypothyroid, have been for over 10 years.

I have my first Appointment with an ob gyn tomorrow. Any ideas what tests to ask for or things to ask her to check? At my age, I don't want to wait a whole year to make sure everything is working properly. I realize we have only been trying for 4 months but I can't help but wonder if my eggs are ok and if everything is working as it should. I am so nervous!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello!!!!! Wishing you the best of luck. I had stage 4 endo & abdymyosis, fibroids and cysts. It took us ten years to have a baby. I saw so many specialists if I can help in any way please let me know.

So last month I was on 50 mg clomid, had one follicle, and an HCG shot. Didn't work.

This month I'm on 100 mg clomid, and when I went in yesterday I had three. Dr. said she was 'on the fence' about doing the hcg shot. Since my body seems to be reacting to the clomid, (and she says she thinks they were going to mature without the hcg) DH and I decided no this time. I'm good w/ twins but triplets make me nervous. Hated making the decision though because I'd rather have 3 than none. But we get 3 more rounds of clomid w/ this doc before she refers us to someone else. Basically, I can't stop second guessing myself.

How is everyone today? Any news?

I saw the RE and my uterus is fine. BOTH my tubes are great and everything looks great. After we get back, we are going to patient ed class and starting clomid at 50 mg. She said that it may only take a few cycles and it should take! I'm so happy!!!!!!!!:yay::cloud9:

So, how is everyone here doing? I hope good. Love you girls!

I'm fairly new to this thread but I go for my first ever blood test tomorrow. They will be checking my progesterone levels. My husband will most likely be submitting his SA this weekend. Then if I get my period this cycle I will be getting CD3 bloodwork and scheduling an HSG. I don't know what to feel about it all. I don't know if it's worse to know something is wrong or to just not know and keep trying. Of course my mind goes to the worst scenario that is we won't ever be able to have kids, which would be a mourning process but I think I could handle it. We have a wonderful marriage and will be married 8 years this December, so it's just been the 2 of us for a long time.

I still lurk on here. I was a member of this thread for 4 loooong years of secondary infertility before I finally graduated. I always felt that knowing what was wrong was much easier than not knowing. Knowing something was wrong allowed us to try to figure out how to fix it, and actively take steps to do so. I felt like we were making progress. And if something showed that having more kids wouldn't be possible, then that would allow us, like you said, to start the mourning process and try to move on.

However, not knowing if anything is wrong, I think, is much much harder because every month there is always that slight hope that "this will be it", only to be disappointed month after month.

It's never easy to start down the IF diagnosis/treatment road, but it is a journey that many of us have had to take. And I know at least for me, it was much better to know what we were facing. Good luck! I hope your stay on here is a short one. :goodvibes

For those of you who didn't tell immediate family you were trying until you were in the process of IVF, how did you tell them?

We waited until we had just finished our first IVF to tell my inlaws. We told them that we had been trying to have a baby for almost 2 years, with multiple attempts, and that we'd just finished a round of IVF that failed. We were in Vegas for their vow renewal when we told them....we waited until the day before we left to tell them though, after all the fun was done.

If you are ready to tell family, then there's no wrong way to do it. Your post was from last month so I may be too late, but just speak from the heart. They will support you in your journey.

I had one good follicle, US tech said "one's all it takes."

Was reading up on the shot, Novarel, it says one of the (extremely rare) side effects is depression. Um, no, depression is a side effect of getting to the point where you have to use Novarel when apparently every woman who lets her boyfriend abuse her kids or leaves her kid in a car when it's 100 degrees out has no trouble conceiving at all. :(

Friday's test was positive, but a low positive. They then scheduled me for another one today. I got my . before it, and the test was negative.

I'm SO sorry! You have frozens, right? A lot of women have better success with FET because their bodies aren't on all those FSH meds beforehand.

I know I am late but I wanted to mention that your hypothyroid is a good enough reason to see the dr this early on. I hope you got some good advice!

Erin, take it from someone who went to the extreme (donor embryos) to have a baby. If it's your hearts desire to have children, there are so many ways that medical science has helped women to conceive, and your doctor will guide you through the process. However, I hope that you don't need to do any of it and that you get your little bundle soon!

Nope. "Unfortunately, none of the remaining embryos developed to a stage where they could be successfully frozen". In round 2 of IVF now and miserable.

Hi Ladies, I have posted here before but it's been a few months so I'll give you a little backstory.

I had DS in September 09. I had Mirena put in January 2010. I had it removed August 2011. I didn't get a regular period until December 2011 (first one since before DS!). I had two "normal cycles" (one of them resulted in a miscarriage at 8w4d) then no period for 45ish days, so I called the doctor. She gave me provera to induce, then 50mg Clomid. I went 80 days between the two before I was given provera again to induce, then 100mg Clomid. I ovulated that cycle, but because I was away from my husband (in WDW for the ToT 10 Miler) there was no way I was going to be pregnant, so my period came on it's own. I am on Clomid 100mg this cycle again but my doctor said if I am not pregnant we will have to look into other options.

So, knowing how long the RE takes to get into, I made an appointment and had our first consultation today. He said that we had a few options: take a higher dose of Clomid+trigger+IUI (or no IUI) or go straight to IVF. Obviously we have been trying a year but I've only ovulated 4 times so I don't know what route to go. I do want a baby sooner than later (who doesn't? :upsidedow), and secondary infertility is really controlling my life right now. Has anyone jumped right to IVF? We are blessed to have awesome insurance (thank you NYS) so cost is a non-factor.

My OB-GYN just called and threw me for a loop. Month one of clomid they didn't monitor, month 2 was 50 mg and one follicle, month 3 was 100 mg and 3 follicles, month 4 was 100 mg/four follicles. In months 2 & 3 so far they have tested my progesterone but it wasn't as high as they would have liked.

We were going to do 6 months on clomid but she just called and said given the progesterone levels being low she thinks if this month doesn't work out we should visit a fertility specialist. I was surprised- I thought the next step would just be progesterone supplements, but when I asked she said she "doesn't want to waste my time." I wish I knew more about how the process works or SOMETHING.

I've been out of this thread for a while too but still chugging along on the infertility train unfortunately. Just finished another round of clomid and finally I at least ovulated but progrestrine levels still weren't high enough. She decided to switch me to femara 5mg days 3-7. Has anyone had any luck with Femara?

I don't know what to do because we are leaving for Disney next Friday and arrive Saturday so it will be after my last day of taking it but I am just nervous about a new medicine, side effects, etc. while being so far away. I had horrible side effects with the clomid and I heard they are much better with femara but I am still a hot mess about all of it. I don't know if I should skip this month or what.

This emotional rollercoaster is starting to get to me. :confused3

I'm skipping AF again.

RE is calling tomorrow to tell me what to do. So sick of this. two steps forward, one step back.

How is everyone doing?

I'm doing well, I'm 9w pg.! :sunny: I can't wait 'til you all join me and I wish you all the best! :grouphug:

Yay!!!!!

As for me, I got a call from the RE and I have a scrip for generic Provera to start AF. I start clomid in about a month or so. They think since my issues are hormonal and not structural, it shouldn't take long to fix!!!!!

Now it's Christmas!!!!! :hyper:

Update:

I have spoken to my RE. I have been on Fertilaid this fall to help with my cycles. They told me I could try Clomid anytime, but I wanted to wait till after our trip since I read it can cause "Clomid rage." :rotfl2: Kinda worried about that. I would really like to avoid those if possible for marital harmony. lol.

Anyhoo, I have been on prover for five days now and am now waiting for AF. The RE said that I will probably never have completely regular cycles every month. In addition to PCOS, I also have a very high testosterone level which I was born with. I've never been able to maintain a regular cycle even on the pill and she said that is why. I'd go for maybe a month or two in a row and then start skipping 2 or three months again.

She recommended that in January I begin treatment with Clomid since that is the only way I will have a semi regular cycle other than provera. I have to attend a one hour patient ed class that will cover everything and what to expect.

So that's it here. What's going on in your neck of the woods? (Yes, we do talk that way in Oklahoma)
