TT question - family of five

Since I get all of my ride photos as an AP holder, I was thinking about the TT ride photo as we will very likely have a single rider joining us. If I recall correctly, they'll fill up our car with the five of us and put a single rider in the last spot (i.e. "passenger side") of the second row. Any chance we could ask for the single rider to be put into the other corner (i.e. "driver's side", back row)? Otherwise, they will be prominently visible in our ride photo. I feel like this happened last time (I didn't buy it so I can't confirm).

I wish I could ask to not have a single rider join us, just for the photo, but that doesn't seem right. I mean, totally not a big deal - but I figured if I could ask this anywhere, it'd be here!

1. If you tell the ride attendant that your family will be taking a "special occasion photo" and you would greatly appreciate it if they didn't fill the 6th seat, I'd say that there is a good chance that they will accommodate you.

2. When it comes time to board the vehicle, you can pretty much move around any way you like as long as you board quickly. Just ask the single rider if they would please sit in the seat you want them to sit in, and I can't imagine that s/he wouldn't do it, as long as it is not a middle seat.

You could always just ask the single rider to load in first if the CM doesn't load that way.

As a consistent solo traveler/single rider, I move around a lot to accommodate other groups, and I personally am not a fan of being in others families photos anyways

I guess it can't hurt to ask - either the CM or the single rider! Just wanted to make sure it would be a reasonable ask. :)

Just curious as to why it matters? (no snark, I promise....)

I mean, you wouldn't ask them to not allow anyone else on the Tower of Terror so you could have your own pic, right?

I think of TOT as being different - there are just so many people in the elevator. But for TT, it would be just our family plus a random. And, like I said, that particular position in the car is pretty prominent in the ride photo. Also, my kids are little - likely it would be one of the parents and one of the little boys riding in the back. And in either the middle position (with an adult to his right) or in the far position (again, with the adult in the middle), he'd be harder to see in the photo.

Not a big deal in any shape or form. I've never had MM (or its predecessor) as I can't bear to spend that much on photos. But since I have it this year, I plan on maximizing it!

You don't need to ask a CM anything. Just tell the single rider your situation and adjust accordingly. As long as he's not completely stubborn for no reason, it shouldn't be an issue.

I honestly don't think it'd matter where the single rider sits. I know it's closer to the camera, but I don't think sitting on the other side is going to make that person not as noticeable. We also have a family of 5, and all our pictures have a single rider with us. I do agree that while something like TOT you know there will be others, just having one person in your family photo is a little annoying to me too.

Here is what a typical photo looks like. I suppose it is a matter of opinion as to who is or who isn't "prominent."

The CM will have the single rider join the line on the passenger side. As others have stated, there's generally enough time where you could ask the single rider to sit on the driver's side and even in which row you prefer. As one that has ridden TT as a single rider many times, it would be fine with me and I would think just about anyone would go for it...although you never know. Judging from the picture, I don't think it makes much difference, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

If you could imagine the boy in the driver's seat being in the seat directly behind him, where the woman in a green tee is sitting, you could imagine you'll barely see him. That's likely our scenario.

Thanks for the input from the single riders on this thread. You're right - there's enough time to ask this person. And if they say no, then we move on. (Won't stop me from wondering why he/she would say no - lol.)

They'll always send the 5 ahead of the 1 so you'll get to the spots first. Just have the two stand on the 2nd and 3rd spots and ask the person joining to take #1. They'll never object. (One ride we do something similar on is Tower of Terror where we always wait for the front row because my wife is short and if anyone holds their hands up in the front row they always cover her in the picture!)

Yep, I'd just tell the single rider to go ahead of us in the line so that we'd be on the camera side. I didn't think about this until after our ride back in February and there is a rather tall man riding single rider next to us in front blocking my son in the back middle, so the picture wasn't great. Definitely a good idea for the future!

I can totally understand where OP is coming from. We usually have a group of 5 and last year the single rider knew where to look for the picture. He was turned right at the camera with kind of a creepy look on his face.:rotfl:I don't know if the example photo in the above post is older, but it seems like our picture was much closer so he dominated most of our picture. I was able to crop it out and use the cute borders on photo pass to cover him, but it was a bit weird. I know the single rider has every right to have their picture taken as well, but TT does seem to be a unique situation where it's your family in a single vehicle and this one random person.

Yea, the good old days. When you could go in early September and TOT would be a walk on and sometimes so empty they sent the elevator off with just your party.

I'm glad you asked about this. We're a family of five, and any one of our kids would easily be obscured by an adult rider. We'll just ask the single rider if they would mind sitting in the "driver" side seat.

I think it is fine to ask. As a single rider in the past, I would be fine with this.

My family of 4 was put in with 2 single riders...turns out they were mother and daughter (maybe 12 yo?). We let them sit together and my sister sat in back and my DD/DS sat with me in the front. It made their day to get to sit together. It is the little things.
