TSA Talking About Easing Security

Completely ridiculous to ease restrictions. Small sissors I can see, but bow and arrows and ice picks ---- who would need to carry these on an airplane. They might not bring down the plane but can certainly cause a huge disturbance.

I'm not only worried about the terrorists but the drunk idiot (now the drunk idiot with an ice pick) too. (OH yea ... now I worry about freezing to death too)

I wouldn't mind removing the restriction that passengers only can go past the security check-points. If we can improve the flow through the check-points, this would seem to be a reasonable next step to take.

I also like the possibility of exempting certain categories of passenger from the checks, since I happen to be in one of them. I'll be happy enough to let someone else take the place in line where I would have been.

It seems like a bit of a front to me anyways. You don't see anyone who works behind the scenes going through the screening, like the ramp workers and the catering/cleaning crews. They all have airplane access, and they don't go through screening. Also, they don't really check the shipped packages or the mail, that would be too time consuming. The pilots and flight attendants are there (seemingly) to help the passengers feel better. It's really unlikely that the people going ON the flights to work are a threat...IMO!

Thats all they need to do now is to ease up on restrictions. Tighter security may deter people from acting or doing anything awful. Once you start to relax, things then start to get overlooked and something awful may happen. Sorry to sound so negative but that is how I feel.

Not negative, the truth.

If I have to take off my shoes, so be it. ( I did have to )

Best be determined it's part of the shoe that's setting of the bells rather than a razor knife.

Whoever came up with this idea of relaxing security is an idiot.

It is interesting seeing the different perspectives on this. On one side, we have people concerned about the easing of the procedures. On the other side, we have people saying that everything the TSA does today is "useless." :rolleyes2

The truth is somewhere in between: Much of what we go through at airport security does make a difference, while much of it is specifically intended to provide the flying public with a sense of security that reflects all the things that TSA does that we don't see them doing. As people get more cynical, it is guaranteed that some of the practices that are done solely to make passengers feel more secure will lose their efficacy, and when they do it is appropriate to stop those practices.
