TSA Question

Now I'm curious... why? Do you hate the TSA so much you don't want a piece of paper with initials of a worker on it? :confused3

No hate. You read a lot into a brief post. :rolleyes1

The marking on the BP serves no purpose as evidenced by the use of E-BPs. And, when it's been all folded up, the BP sometimes doesn't scan.

At least the TSA isn't using sharpies to initial our mobile devices and at least the GA isn't collecting our mobile devices along with the traditional paper BPs.

Seems a very simple thing to do!..........just take the peice of paper, not problem, unless someone just has to make a issue of it.

Is TSA perfect...no!...but to be very honest, the few with a nasty chip on thier shoulder with anything TSA and secuirty............just seem silly after so many totally unjustified pot shots at the TSA folks.

Oh so many incidents of Airport Security Screeners that mistreat people with disabilities and medical conditions or engage in illegal activities on duty not discussed here. I'd say a lot of criticism is justified.

Thanks for the explanation. Never had a problem with a BP not scanning, but OK. :thumbsup2

Who's making an issue out of anything? Even CPT (who's feelings about the TSA most of us know:lmao:) didn't make a disparaging remark.

Sam we'll have to agree to disagree. I bolded the comments made by CPT Tripss which I would categorize as disparaging.

I can't talk specifics anymore the the TSA person above did, but it is security related. If you have an ebp than no initials are needed anyway. The initials offer a faster way to resolve or fix a problem IF it arises, which could mean the difference between you being allow to board your flight or wait for the next one.

But those comments were AFTER Tonka's Skipper's post. In fact, they were in direct response to Tonka. So Tonka has ESP?:confused3

But "security related" doesn't make sense. OK, so I'm a passenger. I go through ID check and get my BP initialed. I get through security and then throw out my BP and get a new one from a kiosk. If I'm stopped at some point after that, I have no record of my BP getting scanned.

I'll leave eBP's out of the mix since I'm assuming the TSA eBP scanner keeps a record of who's been through. But no record is kept of paper BPs, at least none that I've seen.

Well there is alot of comments made,..alleged incidents, opinions stated as fact, all repeated by the policitically correct media..........alot of that and yes a few real incidents........which as in Newark were corrected with 28 people fired.

So I stand by.........UNjustified.

Can you please explain what's unjustified in this thread though? I asked a simple question.

Hi Sam,

I disagree......her last line in post #

There is no real purpose to the markings. I seldom keep the BP with the squiggle for more than a couple minutes after passing the document moat dragon.

As I read it.............its a waste, and just having to paper seems to be a bother......not to mention the *document moat dragon*? just plan rude comments

Sorry Sam I will continue to stand up for those hard working folks, dealing with mass numbers of a public and cannot defend themselves here.

Anyone can make snarky comments when on one is here to defend.

I guess I was not clear..I was referring to many posts over the last 2 years or so...

My Pardon.......AKK
Compared to what CPT has said in the past, "document moat dragon" I thought was actually funny. I didn't start the thread to get into another TSA argument. I think most of us know what side of the issue people stand on.

I did not intend to hi jack the threat, My pardon again.

The problem is that its reqiured, when over the top negative comments and alleged incidents, opinions and snarky statement, etc are posted, to clear the air a bit and show the other side and the facts. I am in Transportation, while not a expert on TSA in the airports, I know a good bit about transportation secuirty.

AKK

PS Well, even I grinned a bit at the Dragon line....*G*

Made ya laugh! :cool1: BTW, the incidents that I have previously reported on this board did, in fact, occur. People may choose not to consider those events problematic (particularly when it happens to some other poor soul), but the events occurred.

In the spirit of OPs original question - what is the purpose of an Airport Security Screener asking a person to state his or her name when having the BP or ID document examined?

I don't remember having to do that. Maybe you just look suspicious. :rotfl:

Gee, maybe to confirm the person representing the BP or ID even remembers the name on the paperwork??

Kinda security 101:confused3, Come on CPT.we disagree, but I expected better from you!:thumbsup2

That's security? Heck, it doesn't even nab underage drinkers.
