TSA "liquids" question

I don't know if this post belongs here, but it seemed like the best fit.

Since the liquid restrictions have been put in place I have not travelled with only carry-ons, so I haven't had to figure this out yet.

Is toothpaste or gel-type deodorant considered a liquid?

So far I have always had checked luggage and that is where these items have gone, but for my August WDW trip I hope to be able to get by with only carry-ons.

Yes, both of those likely would be considered liquids as far at the TSA 3-1-1 rules for carry-ons go. Toothpaste always is and many deodorants/antiperspirants are too. In general, anything that will not hold its shape if removed from its container would be considered a liquid/gel.

Toothpaste and gel-type deodorant are considered liquids by TSA and have to fit into the quart ziplock bags. If your deodorant says "solid" in the name, it's OK to go outside of the bag. If it says "gel", it goes in.

And if it goes in the bag, it has to be less than or equal to 3.4 oz in size.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I will be shopping the Target travel aisle for this trip! I am flying down a few days ahead of my husband and the boys who will be driving down. So I guess if I would need more than the travel size, they can always bring the full size with them. I will be there nearly 2 weeks total and I don't know how long the little sizes actually last.

With just you using them, you'll be fine. The deodorant especially will last you the entire trip as long as you don't glop it on. Actually, chances are your standard product is probably under the limit - it's just a matter of whether everything will fit in your single quart bag. And you could always bring two tubes of toothpaste, or even those Colgate disposable things. Those are solid and don't need to go in the bag.
