No. There's never an exception on this.

No unfortunately you cannot do that. Even diabetics can't substitute. That is a strict policy.

As was said already, this is not allowed.

This is actually one of THE biggest rules on the dining plan. Members who have asked about it have been told by the servers that if they allowed it, they would be fired. It is not something that has any wiggle room.

Part of the reason is table turn over. It's not a stretch to think that part of the reason they took out the dessert was because meals were taking too long (as well as cost issues I am sure). If they allowed for an appetizer or dessert, they would have a mess on their hands. Many tables would have part of the party order appetizers and the other part would order desserts... and then share everything. Thus, the party would be taking up the table much longer, and not paying any more for it.
