Trying to surprise my boyfriend!

Hi everyone!

My boyfriend is a CM in Magic Kingdom at a quick service restaurant. He knows I'm taking a trip to Florida to see him, but I maybe lied about the dates

I'm going to be there a day earlier than he expects me, so I wanted to go to his work location and surprise him in a "cute" way... But I can't really think of anything! Anyone have some input or suggestions?

What does your BF do at the restaurant? If he's a cashier could you join the queue to order (maybe wearing some shades & a big hat) If he's backstage could you get a fellow CM to "trick" him into pointing him in your direction at break time or when his shift ends?

He normally works in the kitchen (but not a chef)... I'm just not sure about his schedule or if there's any way to get him out from the kitchen?

If he's working, I doubt it would be allowed (or appropriate) to pull him from work to surprise him. The best thing to do is wait until he's done with his shift, which would require asking him.

I like this, and it won't get him into any trouble with his supervisor. I'm sure he'll be surprised & happy to see you.

I think you should leave him alone while he is working (especially since he works "backstage"), but maybe arrange to be there when he gets off work. do you at least know when he's done working?

Once CMs finish their shifts for the day, they leave via backstage areas and usually never step into "onstage" areas unless they are meeting up with family or friends. If it's MK, you would never see him as CMs take buses from backstage to and from the CM parking lot. The only sure thing is to surprise him at his residence.

That's what I was afraid of.. Maybe I could ask another CM or a manager, explain the situation, and they might be able to make a magical moment?

Surprisingly, going to his residence would be much harder than going to his work location LOL.

The other thing to consider is that CMs can't be onstage in costume if they are on a break. Most CMs arrive to work in costume and don't have a change of clothes with them. I hope something works out for you!

I am not convinced that "onstage in costume" is really an issue once his shift has ended. I think the best chance you have is to get there an hour before his shift ends, and ask to talk to the manager. Tell him what's up, and ask if at the end of his shift, you could "ask to see the chef responsible for your food" as you would like to thank them for it. Surprise!

Then, if it's a problem for him to be seen elsewhere in the park in his uniform he can arrange to meet you elsewhere. I know CMs go to and from work in their uniforms/costumes all the time.. I see them at the gas stations.

When I was a CM, which was back in 2005, you weren't supposed to be onstage in costume unless you were working. So, if you were on break, you couldn't run and grab lunch at Cosmic Ray's while still in costume. You had to change. You weren't supposed to walk across the park in costume, either. If you were on stage in costume, you were considered working and needed to act the part. Talk to the manager because he might be able to help you out with something such as having him come out for the big surprise reveal, but be prepared for him to not necessarily be able to sit down and have a coke with you or anything like that. He will likely also have to exit backstage and either change or meet you outside of the park, rather than walking out the gate with you, if that makes sense.

Like the rest have said talk to a manager, and also bring HIM a change of clothes since you will be in the park and maybe the two of you could have a nice evening in the park! Any surprise will be great for him I wouldn't worry about it being in a cute way! Just seeing you there early should be cute enough! Where are you traveling from?

I'm traveling from New England... I'd say exactly where but I still have the paranoia that someone might recognize my situation and let it slip to him
