Trying to stay at Magic Kingdom all day too ambitious?

So we are going to Disney in late August for our honeymoon.. one day we are doing breakfast at the poly(Kona) then going over to Magic Kingdom then back to poly(Ohana) for dinner then back to Magic Kingdom for EMH. Typically during the day we would go back to the room to relax a bit but since we are doing a table service for breakfast and dinner I am afraid that traveling back to the resort (French Quarter) would take away a lot of park time. So I was thinking of doing a late breakfast around 1030 and then just staying at Magic Kingdom until dinner at 6 and going back to Magic Kingdom right after. Does anyone think it will be too much? I know its going to be really hot and that is the only thing I am worried about. My fiancé works outside all day so he is used to the heat but me not so much lol any advice would be appreciated:earsboy:

I say you're being lazy by not showing up at rope drop. ;-)

But in all seriousness, this sounds perfectly fine to me, and a great day.

hahaha I seriously considered rope drop! But I figured my fiancé might kill me for that! Magic Kingdom is open till 11p that night so I am going to be lucky to get the 12 hrs out of him.

I think you'll be fine. I've done open to close park days in late July, late August and early September and lived to tell about it. :) I would just try to balance your time indoors and out effectively, to give yourself breaks from the heat. A couple of outdoors attractions and then a couple of indoor shows. And really do more of the indoor stuff around mid-day/early afternoon when it's the worst with the sun. Hydrate well, take small personal fans (I have a great one I got on Amazon for $10 that hangs around my neck and blows air up at my face constantly...and is flat and small...very effective) and even a cooling towel, don't wear anything 100% cotton...and you'll be fine! As long as you are smart about the heat, it really isn't all that bad.

Have fun and congrats!

Hydration is key that time of year! Also take lots of breaks between outside attractions/activities--stepping into shops for a few minutes, doing an indoor attraction, etc. I'm sure you'll be fine! Once the sun goes down, it's relatively pleasant, so you should be able to get more done in the evening (plus it will start clearing out too).

Have a great time!

We're attempting a rope drop - park close at end of April, I think the key is hydration and taking time to relax throughout the day. I can also see those indoor air conditioned attractions being a blessing too!

I've done this many times and I found it was fine as long as you take it chill and not try to fit too many rides at MK in between. I personally like taking a break from the parks and get away from the crowds. It will give you chance to get out of the heat and you can check out the Poly. Kona cafe is a must for breakfast. Their pineapple macadamia pancakes and Tonga Toast are sooooo good. I love the Kona Coffee Press and the lilikoi juice. Ohana for dinner is a cool experience too but it takes a long time to get your table so I don't know if you'll make it back to MK for the night show depending on closing time. If they have EMH then it can be done.

Our Ohana reservation is for 530 and MK is open until 11p that night. I love EMH thats why I made sure to make a monorail dinner reservation so we could spend the entire day at MK and be there for the EMH.

I've done rope drop to close a few times. When I'm in the part and get tired I hit the attractions that involve sitting down back to back so Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree, Mickey's Philharmagic, Carousel of Progress and PeopleMover. I also camp out for maybe an hour in the shade waiting for the parade on Main Street with an iced coffee/ice cream which also helps.

When I was a kid, we would go at rope drop and stay until closing...every time. We still usually do all day, into EMH if there are evening hours.

We have done this numerous times, though never in August. When we need an afternoon break but don't want to get on the bus to the resort, we take a boat to WL or the monorail to GF and enjoy their lobby for awhile. It's cool and comfortable, and usually uncrowded at that time. Chairs are even comfy enough for a quick nap. Enjoy!

I agree with everyone else. And you don't have to go back to the park after dinner if you're not feeling it.

We have done the full day, with a trip to an MK resort for dinner and then back to the park--I loved it! It was only adults, wouldn't try it with kids :)

I agree with the other posters. I have done open to close at MK more times than I can count. Hydration is key! You can freeze bottles of water to take with you or you can get free cups of water at most quick service locations and the Starbucks on Main Street. Definitely plan a few indoor sit down experiences (I love Carousel of Progress and even the Hall of Presidents for this). I would get your must do attractions for fast pass in the morning or plan on hitting them at the EMH when the lines will be relatively shorter. Depending on if you are planning on taking a bag or renting a locker you might want to also bring baby wipes and deodorant for a quick freshen up in the evening before dinner or even a clean shirt.

Good luck and congratulations! I hope you guys have a magical honeymoon.

I've done it. Rope drop to close. In early September. Twice. No it will not be too much. Do it!

Baby wipes and deodorant is such a good idea! I never thought of that. I will be taking a small backpack so I will just buy travel size to put in there! I figure by the time we are done with our late breakfast it will be around 1130 so we will have the afternoon to do attractions, then dinner at ohana at 545 which will give us a nice break. Then head back to MK for EMH which hopefully the weather will be cooled down slightly.

I have done all day at MK similar to you but did Ohana for breakfast and Chef Mickey at dinner with kids and we were fine. Disney spares no expense on air conditioning. All the shops, restaurants and attractions with indoor lines are over air conditioned so it shouldn't be hard to stay cool. Like others said, take breaks, get a water and sit in the shade and people watch. There are plenty of shaded areas in MK. you will be fine, enjoy the day

Done it many times at all parks with my sons when they were 7 and 8 and when they were 21 and 23.

Not doing it is anot anomaly

A lot of blogs I have read mention about going into the hall of presidents to rest/take a quick nap. That could be a good refresher for you! As long as you don't mind napping while sitting up! At least it will be an escape from the heat!! Have a great time!
