Trying to save $

We are planning a trip for probably 6 nights to the Polynesian in late Sept. We are thinking concierge because we are traveling with a 3 and 1 yr old and that will get us in the Tahiti building. I am trying to get the best deal possible and I have heard that buying one annual ticket is probably my best bet. I have also heard mention of discount codes. What are those?

Any help on how to save money would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to make this as special as possible for our daughter who is absolutely thrilled about her first trip to see the princesses--hopefully without breaking the bank. Thanks.

I don't know of any special discount codes available at that time -- but when they are available you can often find them listed at www.mousesavers.com.

You could try asking for the AAA rate at that time. The AAA discount is usually 20%, when available. We got 20% off the All-Star Movies for late Sept. You'd have to get a AAA card, if you don't already have one, but it would probably pay for itself in the discount.

Also, to my knowledge, AP discounts still haven't been announced for Sept., so hold off on buying the AP until after the discounts have been announced and you've been able to book at an AP discount.

You can make changes to your reservation, so you could book at the AAA rate and then maybe change to an AP rate if and when it becomes available.

Your best bet for saving money might be to skip the concierge service and go for a Moderate hotel. The kids won't really notice whether you spend the extra $ or not. But if you really want that level of service, you should resign yourself to the fact that it's going to cost some dough. (If price is an issue, I'd definitely recommend pricing out the trip with the various options -- w/o concierge service, in a Moderate, etc. so that you know how much things are really costing.)

Ethan's Mom gave good advice. I want to add some thing though.

The Polynesian concierge is exceptionally kid friendly.

They have free strolelr to lend (as available) during your stay. That could save you some money. They are the "jogger" style. They also ahve bottled water and soda out and readily available, and urge you to take water to the parks with you. That is also some dramatic savings, as it is still HOT in September.

Captain Cooks is open 24 hours, which I think is a biggie when youa re travelling with two young kids.

There is a free mini-fridge in the room, very important if you have a little one who might wake up needing a bottle at night or early in the morning.

The pool there is zero entry, wonderful for little ones. Also the beach is nice to sit and play on to break up the day.

I advise getting a ground floor, lagoon view room, you can put the kdis to bed and sit on your patio and watch the fireworks and floating electrical pageant. That gives some adult time too.

Book now, you can always add a code or discount later.

First you will have to ask yourself why you want the Concierge? I had booked concierge for our last trip to AKL and decided to switch to just a deluxe sav room instead. we saved about $150 a night (for 16 nights we saved $2400). We were so happy we did. This way we had $2400 extra to play w/ to do whatever we wanted with. This was our "no holes barred" trip. It was great. We are so happy we spent the money on other things instead of on the concierge. Seeing it was really about the same room. And our 2yro DD really loved the animals. That's what made the biggest impression on her. If your looking to give your kids a special time I'd say say the cash for something else. The things they will remember about their trip to WDW certainaly will not be weither or not they had concierge service!

I would stay at the Poly since the monorail access is so helpful with little kids. However, I am not sure I would stay concierge. It will cost you at least $100 additional dollars per night and with 2 little ones, you probably won't eat/drink that much extra food. If having a fridge in your room is important, you can rent one for $12 per night.

I stayed Poly Concierge and LOVED it, but if you are trying to save money, a regular room at the Poly is great, too.
