HI--thanks in advance for your help!:flower3:
I've been studying the boards, and maybe I'm missing it, but here are my questions--hope I"m not being annoying.:confused3

The particulars:
We are staying off site.
My mom is 76 years old--very spry, but with bad knee issues.
Our 5 friends are at a different hotel and will be meeting us. They are notoriously late, and have been warned that we won't be "saving places in line" for them;).

  1. Should we take the rental car and try for disabled parking or get a cab? (My mom does have a disabled tag for the car)
  2. If we do get a cab to US, how close is the drop off point so my mom can minimize the walking?
  3. What is the entrance/queuing procedure if we already have tickets?
  4. Many in our group are only interested in the castle part of FJ. Do we just say that to a TM as we're going in?:dance3:
  5. I'm confused about Dervish and Bangs--can you get in without having to go into Olivanders?
  6. Since we're only interested in WWHP and US, would it make sense to get a 2 park ticket for that day?
  7. Is there some kind of breakfast food available on the way into IOA, or should we just make sure we eat before we go?

Thanks again for any help!! :goodvibes

1. Parking and drop off are quite a distance either way.
2. How about having the cab dropping off at Royal Pacific Hotel and taking the boat?
3. Just go directly to the turnstiles.
4. Ask at the entrance to go in the non riding line.
5. Yes, Dervish and Banges can be entered through the normal store door.
6. A two park ticket would be best.
7. There is a yummy place called Croissant Moon where you can grab breakfast items. Also Cinnabon. These are right inside IOA.

Thanks very much Damo!! The info will really help--Can you tell me a little bit more about the logistics of taking the boat-- esp. since I'm staying off site...thanks!:thumbsup2

[*]Should we take the rental car and try for disabled parking or get a cab? (My mom does have a disabled tag for the car)

[*]If we do get a cab to US, how close is the drop off point so my mom can minimize the walking?

You can't think of walking in terms of how near or far the parking lot is since in either case that makes up a very small percentage of the walking you would do in a day. Even that cab/boat suggestion saves you at best a few hundred steps. You would be better off using your own car and using the money you save on cab fare to either rent a wheelchair or an ECV. You can even rent them in advance and bring them in with you.

Well since you are a Dis veteran imagine how it would be if you could get a cab to drop you off at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. Not the TTC, right in front by the base of the monorail platform near the ticket booths. How much walking would you still have to do that day? My guess would be lots. If mom couldn't handle that she isn't going to manage IOA either.

In regards to another question that you asked:
Since we're only interested in WWHP and US, would it make sense to get a 2 park ticket for that day?

Since WWOHP and US are in 2 different places you would have to get a 2 park ticket to see them both in one day. Another Disney comparison would be if you wanted to visit Haunted Mansion and Epcot in one day. One attraction is inside a park while the second is a park by itself. That's how it is. WWOHP is inside of one park (Islands of Adventure) while Universal Studios is another separate park.
