In the past 10 years, we have been to these restaurants -

Boma
Tusker House+
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Be Our Guest
Biergarten-
Teppan Edo
Coral Reef+
Garden Grill
Le Cellier
San Angel Inn -
Via Napoli
Crystal Palace
ESPN Club
Cape May +
Bongos
Hollywood and Vine
'Ohana +
California Grill
Maya Grill

I put pluses by my favorites, minuses by my least.

We're taking the kids this fall and doing so retreads. Cape May (our fav), Ohana (if we can get a reservation!), and Whispering Canyon at my husband's request. Our 6 year old wants to eat in "Paris" so we're going to Chefs de France. That leaves me with one pick. Our 2 year old is not patient so we're looking more at buffet or family style places.

Given my history and desire to do something we've never done, what do you suggest? I'm thinking 1900 Park Fare or Akerhaus... I wish I could take the boys to Chef Mickey's but I'm not giving up my only pick for what sounds like a less organized H&V or CP.

I love Hoop de Doo Review for families. We did Akershus and had a bad experience in 2014 (a first for us at Disney) - the kids hated the food and we got served super late. The princesses were wonderful though - esp. Snow White.

We love 1900 PF - have only done the dinner with stepsisters and stepmother - hysterical. I have read here that Cindy and Prince have a photo op but do not come to tables anymore which is a little disappointing if so. Food is always good - love the strawberry soup! They have added a lot of different choices on the buffet like jerk chicken and taco bar for kids. Bread pudding is awesome - I could just have that and strawberry soup and be very happy. I have heard great reviews of brft and has my fave Pooh and Tigger!(We always do CP so we have not gotten to this one)

what about Sanaa at AKL?
We ate there last year and were lucky enough to get a table right at the window. got to watch the animals walk around while we ate. Kept my 2 year old very happy. Just make sure you go for lunch or early dinner so its still day light and you can see the animals.

We're on the DDR so I don't want to use 2 TCs. Maybe when we take a trip longer than 5 nights.

Okay, the taco bar is talking to me. My kids will eat anything on a tortilla and we do some version of Mexican food (or as Mexican as Americans of German ancestry can get) once a week.

Try Chef Art Smiths Homecoming at Disney Springs for something different. We ate there in March and it was excellent food and nice to try something new.

Since you mentioned wanting to do something more buffet or family style related, I'd suggest trying Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. It's all you can eat, and has plenty of items that the kids would enjoy.

Trail's End. Cheapest buffet on property, and amazing, simple food that everyone will enjoy. Plus you can check out the horses afterwards, or do the free Chip and Dale campfire.
