today is the first day we can make them on the app (60 days out) so why does it seem like they're all booked up already? Is it better to call?

Also is big thunder BBQ open the week after Christmas? Not seeing it listed.

Thanks!

Sadly, Big Thunder BBQ closed permanently a while ago. :(

Big Thunder BBQ has gone the way of the dodo to make room for Star Wars land. It was always our after marathon pig out spot, but this year we have to head somewhere else. :(

Sadly, Big Thunder Ranch BBQ is closed for good due to construction of Star Wars Land in that area. It was a favorite of so many people and such a quiet area with great food and ambiance and I know lots of us miss it. The 'trail' it was on is shut off on either side, also, blocking that nice little shortcut.

If you are just now 60 days out, it is most likely that the reservations are just not loaded into the system yet, a super common thing at DLR. The only things that book up immediately seem to be Christmas or Thanksgiving buffets at the DLH and special event parties like last year's Halloween dinner in Blue Bayou. But otherwise you can practically get reservations next day, especially for smaller parties at lunch. Though maybe not the week after Christmas... I thought that was historically the most crowded time of the year.

And there are SO MANY great counter service places in DLR that you shouldn't forget about, Rancho del Zocalo is so pretty at night, great simple menu and practically perfect people watching at Jolly Holiday, the neon lighting and dinner at Flo's in DCA, soup in bread bowls at 3 places in the parks, the unique and refreshing menu at Paradise Garden Grill in DCA, and lots more!

I love the app because you can not only make reservations right there, but the menu is listed and you can use the map to locate the most appealing choices nearby.

Where are you planning on? :D

Nope, not booked up yet, just not loaded into the system (tends to be a little slow, but you really don't need to worry as it's pretty easy to get reservations for dining at DLR.
And as previously stated, no BTRBBQ anymore.....boohoo. They do have some BBQ items at RiverBelle Terrace now. Some folks say the ribs are good. The roasted chicken was not! You can try that for BBQ style, but it's not all you can eat, just a menu.

I too am looking for suggestions for "RESERVATION PLACES". We've eaten at several hoping to expand our horizons this trip. Suggestions on top 5 for reservations? We've got a family of 4 (kids ages 12 or 10)

Carnation Cafe is always an easy choice because it has a great menu for any meal. There is the new-ish offering for dinner at the often overlooked Paradise Pier hotel, themed to a beach side BBQ. Blue Bayou is such a fun atmosphere inside Pirates of the Carribean, but their menu is so small, I really wish they'd freshen it up and a few add new options.

Most Downtown Disney restaurants take reservations and their menus are generally much longer than the in park restaurants! I know it can be hard to tear yourselves away from the parks though... I have been wanting to try UVA Bar and Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen.

We love Cafe Orleans and Carnation Cafe. Of course my number one is Steakhouse 55. Great for dinner or breakfast. We also like Tortilla Jo's in DTD. Carthay is good, love the biscuits.
