We are currently on the waitlist for 150 pts at VB.

We are moving to Florida.

We are trying to decide if buying more VB is a good idea. We usually go in October and May and stay in an inn ocean view room. I know that we will go more frequently now that we will be less than a day's drive away.

We usually use 10 pts Sun.-Thurs and 23 pts Fri. and Sat.

Last month we were offered a discounted cash rate of $136 total for the type of room we were in. This isn't much more than someone would pay if they rented pts and then paid for housekeeping.

Is it a bad idea to buy more pts. if you are going to be a Fl. resident?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't stayed at VB (who am I kidding, I'm a newbie...I haven't stayed at any of the DVC resorts).

One question that came to mind while reading your post...since you will be a Florida resident, will you be elliglble for the cash discounts?

Did you know they are currently offering MB on VB OCt use year?
By the way if you move to FLorida aren't you going to miss your FEDEX man?

Yes, just a tweensy bit, but don't tell anyone.

Anyone familiar with cash discounts offered to FL residents at VB?

I am for buying more points. Remeber that the room rates will continue to rise and discounts may not always be available.
I have 250 VB points and would love more. My problem is getting enough vacation time.

What is the price that DVC is offering VB points for? I thought a resale would be less expensive....?

We are too are somewhat interested in VB

Thanks

Hi All!

I am a first time poster to this board but have been lurking for a few months. This topic is one that I can relate to so I thought a response is appropriate.

My family first bought at VB in 1998 while living in a very cold northern climate. In 2000 we moved to South Florida and we are now a little less than a two hour drive from Vero, our home resort (we also own OKW points). We have found that we can't get enough VB points and in fact, we added on last summer just before DVC sold out our use year.

We use our points much differently now. We enjoy long weekends (that's why we need more points!) and we try to take advantage of school schedules when we can stay a week night at reduced point rates when our son is out of school on Monday for example. We will be staying this Thanksgiving but will only be there for three nights, Tuesday to Thursday. We could have never considered a short stay like this while living up north.

All said, we wondered how much we would use DVC when we moved to Florida. After three years of living here, we are much more excited about our asset. I agree with many of you though, don't talk too much about VB. We don't want the secret to get out.

Jeff

I agree with everything you said and will be doing the same as you. Moving from Ohio to Florida during the next 3-4 years.

thegoods,

You make some good points. I never thought of it that way.

Our pts haven't come through yet so it could be a while.

Thanks for all of the information everyone.
