Hi,

Okay - so after a not so great vmk day yesterday I decided to start my day by making myself smile by doing something nice for someone.

So - i new player asked me for my Buried in Treasure pin and I was going to give it to her. I then discovered it is not able to be traded. arg!

She does not know how to get it. Can I say to her - in vmk -
"Search for code on the internet." or "Search on line for code from cereal company"? I do not know if we are allowed to discuss that in the game and do not want to get - gasp - banned for trying to help someone.

Thanks - if you know. I told her to be my friend and I would help if I could.

Anyone? Please only answer if you really know.

Hello. People seemed to get banned for the strangest things, so I don't think anyone can "really know." You can direct this person to the VMK Home Page (I feel pretty confident that this will cause no trouble!) and specifically to the Promotions page. The codes from Kellogg's are discussed on this page, although not provided.

Ok, now this doesn't bode well. I never did get Cursed Storm, because it was back in Beta and there was a mix-up with the codes. Those of you who were around will remember this. So AFAIK (and please correct me if there's a way to do it), I'll never be able to get the pin. But I'm going to WDW next week (yay! :cheer2: ), and I was thinking if I create a character in the park to get ears, I could get the pin with that character and then give it to myself through my quest kiosk. So will I not be able to do that? :sad1:

I don't know that anyone has tried to give non-tradable items this way but since it has not been metioned before with lots of happyness following I am guessing it can not happen this way. The only way I know of to fix the cursed storm is to find Yavn, and while no gaurantee because he is very busy and moves fast, I know for a fact he can fix it. I will try to see if the machine can be loaded with these items if I can I will report back otherwise safe to say no it can't be done.

-note the machine appears to allow me to load prizes that are otherwise non-tradeable but you would have to make a person and earn 30k credits to buy the machine all to trade the nontradeable items

I tell people, "It's a code from Kellogg's cereal." Yes, you can say that. I leave it up to the person to come up with the idea of searching the internet.

To be on the safer side, you might want to tell her to ask a staff member. I don't know if they can give a decent answer but it's worth a try. If she were to ask in a crowded staff room, someone would probably shout out the answer without thinking. Actually, if she were to ask in any crowded room someone would probably answer eventually. The moral problem with that is the person who gives the correct answer might be banned.

There's always the contact us option on the VMK home page. It's all the way at the bottom and kind of hard to find.

Yes I would not suggest anything on another website. The people who put dis in their signature have to be careful not to put dis boards because that is not allowed. IT is a very fine line so just be careful.

I always tell people to search for the code on the net.
I've done it several times and have yet to even get a warning from it.
As long as you're not telling people where on the net to find *you*, then it should be ok.
