As we speak right now I do have bwv standard 1 bedroom for 8 nights in the early part of January. With all the hype about aulani I have admit I'm a little excited about visiting:cool1:. So I called dvc today and they have a 1 bedroom ocean view available . For us January would work out the best I have both kids who are in college so January would be the best time for them to visit.

We don't know if it's smart to go in January, we would stay for 7 days we most likely not go to another island but we will fly from Ny fly to California and hope to visit Disneyland for a day then fly out the next day to Hawaii instead of a direct flight don't know if this is a smart thing to do but I'm afraid of the jet lag.

Weather can be an issue but the same with Visiting Orlando in january however my dh says he would rather have bad weather in Orlando than Hawaii because we would be spending a lot more money with airfare car rental. I have read it's their rainy season how much rain are we talking, rain for 30
minutes and it's done or rain for 3/4 of the day? I just wonder if the pools are heated does it get really cold in Hawaii also during that time of the year?

So what would you do should I keep my original ressie or book Hawaii?

I've never been there in January but I am going in this coming January (2012). I have been there several times, all in the summer months. Keep in mind that "cold" in Hawaii is nowhere near "cold" in Orlando. I've experienced 40 degree days in Orlando in January and I would much rather have been experiencing a "cold" 70 in Hawaii. I am excited about going in January. That is prime whale watching season. Considering that it will likely be below zero here in Chicago in January, I'll be happy to be anywhere but here.:)

If it were me, I'd pick Hawaii. While you could have rain, the weather is tropical. I was there for my birthday on January 1 more than once, and I was able to wear shorts and get some color on those trips. I'll have more to report about the resort when we return, but since there is a vacancy, I'd take it. Anyone else?

I'd stick with WDW. The point for me about buying DVC was to keep my cost of vacationing down a little. WDW no car needed. Flights will be cheeper from the NY area, and the two best reasons to go to WDW, much less points and not being charged a tax when I check out. Oh and have you seen some if the prices out there, 32.99 for a refillable mug!!! Really? I almost, well you know what in my shorts, when I saw that. Stay with WDW. I would. I know I am never booking at Hawaii.
