Trying to extend stay

Wondering if anyone has some advice or if this is pretty much impossible.

Our trip is 5/30-6/4, staying at the cabins at FW.

On our last day (Saturday) we had planned to check out, spend the day at Epcot, and then travel halfway home (by car, about 3 hours). The reason for doing this was to save money.

Now we have decided it would be easier to come back to the room on Saturday, spend one more night, then have until 10:00 the next morning to pack up and check out.

Here is my problem. Disney says I can't do this and keep my original rate b/c my package isn't being offered anymore. So instead of around $250/night, it would be over $400! For one more night!

Is there any way around this that you know of or should give up the dream?

Book one night as a room-only reservation. You might have to switch cabins. But you won't get the same rate/discount as you got for the original, no.

Wrong. Disney can most definitely modify a reservation after a promotion has expired. They are not changing the code, just the components. However, it can only be modified if the dates are available under that particular code.

What discount type are you booked under?

I've run into this issue on both ends. Both trying to extend the stay & reduce the stay. The reduce the stay didn't make any sense to me at all.
Basically, they say they have to cancel and re-book unless you just do a room-only one-night stay.

SOMETIMES, an operator can call the resort and change the dates, but it's not guaranteed.

We're booked under the Spring Resort Offer. Book through 3/31. Travel dates 4/14-6/11.

This is what I tried. She said $436 for one night room only.
Sounds right.

Disney have stopped letting people change length of stay in either direction while maintaining discounts unless that discount is available at the time of change. This is because people were doing a lot of changes and orphaning dates and otherwise limiting capacity.

Bummer. So now instead of Disney getting $250 plus whatever we'd spend on Disney life for one more night, I'm hauling my family to the Hampton Inn. Doesn't make much sense, but it is what it is, I guess.

Thanks for responding.

Try once you get there. We had a reservation at a "Hampton Inn" about 2 hours away thinking I was being all creative trying to save time and money. After we were there and I realized I was not really doing either since lets face it...time is money. lol I went to guest services the day before checkout and asked. I could have went either way and I did not even ask about the rate but she said she would see if the manager would let the same rate apply. They did which was icing on the cake and to be honest that was one of our best nights as we really just enjoyed the resort. Hope it works out for you.

I believe the length of stay modification policy was enforced due to guests overextending dates with an intention of shaving nights off once flight schedules were in place.

With that being said, we were able to add nights this past Oct even though our modified dates were not available under the expired promo. However, this was only possible via transfer to Guest Services.

How far in advance did you speak to Guest Services? When I called them directly yesterday, they transferred me back to central booking...which got me nowhere.

There is availability for 6/4-6/5 under the Awaken Summer Savings promotion. With taxes it's $341.

A little over 2 weeks in advance of our checkin date (modified Oct 9 Arrived Oct 27, 2015)
