Well long story short it has been 13 months since I have been at Disney.... And it is killing me!!! lol. We have planned to go in June of next year for 12 nights and we are trying to decide where to stay. We always stay at the values with the dinning because we have gone during FD. But now our DS 6 is in school and I just dont want to take him out he is not the type that does well with that. We discussed renting and rv but now with all of these snake threads coming back to life its freaking me out! Especially the complementary one! I thought about WL or maybe AKL. We were going to try and buy DVC this year but it just isnt going to happen so we are going to get AP and just use whatever room discount is possibly available. Im not really sure if we should splurge and stay somewhere nice for a change or just stick with a value and get the dinning. It honsetly doesnt matter to me I just sleep there but having a 12 month old going this time might be a little rough! If anyone could give some suggestions that would be great! Thanks in advanced!

If the 12 month old child is going to be in a crib or pack & play, space may get really tight in a value. Perhaps a good alternative would be a moderate? That would give you a bit more space but would cost less than WL or AKL.

You might also want to run the numbers and see if the dining plan provides good value for you. Menus with prices are available on-line, so you can compare what you would spend OOP against what it would cost for the DDP. For us, the DDP just never adds up, but we eat breakfast in the room most days (bananas, granola bars, juice, etc.).

Have you considered renting points for a villa at one of the DVCs. If you got a 1 bedroom villa you would have a full kitchen for quick breakfasts, snacks, and drinks. You would also have a separate bedroom so the 12 mth could go to sleep and you would still have space to enjoy and be able to relax, not to mention the balconies. Best yet you would have a washer/dryer so you wouldn't have to pack so much and best of all return home with mostly clean clothes. You would save money and still be able to get the dining plan.

Have you thought about the Fort Wilderness cabins? I know the transportation can tax your patience, but the extra space might work well for you. Also since you aren't on top of your neighbors, you don't have to worry so much about the kids noise level! We stayed there when my DD was about 1 but we had a rental car. It worked out well for us. Good luck! I am struggling with my own decision about where to stay next time too!

I think with a 1 year old I might at least do the Moderates. I'm only saying that because there might be times that you want to just hang out at the resort, and the Mods have a bit more. Pool areas tend to have more shade and the grounds can be a bit nicer to walk around and push the stroller. Plus, if the adults want to have a sit down meal but don't want to leave, the Mods have a place to eat and a food court - best of both worlds. This of course applies to the Deluxe level as well - just not sure how much you're wanting to spend :)

Definetely check into renting points. You would have more space with a 1 bedroom and the kitchen is a plus.
If you know where you want to stay someone with a home resort of AKV or VWL could go ahead and make the reservation for you. There are a few on the rent and trade board that will take so much down and the rest be due 60 days out.
If you want VWL you may need to book that pretty soon it is the smallest of DVC resorts.
