DS10's art teacher wanted to have a year end party for each of her classes that would contain a fun art-related activity. She decided on cupcake decorating. The class mom from DS's class sent around a request to donate items for the event.
Edible art and gingerbread houses are a "thing" in our house - it is our hobby and we have tons of materials and decorating items. I volunteered to send candy in, as well as marzipan and gumpaste for firguremaking. I sent so much that DS could barely carry the bag. He was very excited to do the craft when he saw the giant bag he was bringing in.
The craft was today, I asked how it went, and he said it s**cked, because all the candy I sent in was not handed out, and each table in his classroom only got a few tiny dishes to share. What was NOT handed out added up to about 50$ worth of candy, included some pricey packages of gumpaste and edible decor from specialty stores!
DS is "graduating" elementary school, so I will not encounter this art teacher again, and I know it would be poor form to inquire about the rest of my donation, but frankly, I'm really irritated. I sent that stuff in for DS's class, not for the art teacher to comandeer, either for herself or other classes!
That is all - vent over.
