Try to be Positive!

Seriously. Now, please use me as the butt of your disdain, I can handle it.:rotfl:

Frankly this thread isn't helping anyone plan a trip either. I will say it again....

BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE.

If you want this place to be more "planny" and less negative, then post threads that actually help folks plan. Starting a thread simply to lecture those who do otherwise is completely counterproductive. Heck...FLOOD the board with planning posts and drive the others off the first page. Here are some ideas for you:

Best time of day to hit the mountains in MK?

Where to go first at rope drop?

Which way do you go around the park (clockwise or counter)?

Best streetmosphere act?

What's the best nighttime show at wdw?

How do I thank a CM?

Best transportation offering at WDW?

How does photopass work?

Where is the best place to watch the parade from?

And no, I don't care to start any of these threads myself because I do find value in the negative posts as well. I don't look at Disney through rose-colored glasses. For me, it's good to know the potential pitfalls so I can work to avoid them myself or be prepared for the possibility of it.

How do people who start these types of threads not see the irony in starting a completely off topic thread to complain or lecture about something they think is off topic? If there are so many people who hate discussing FP+ and want to talk about every other aspect of a Disney trip, FP+ would not be monopolizing the conversation. Start the threads!

I'm still reading lame one-liners reference shoveling snow.

Well to be fair had the sarcastic (and inappropriate) comment about snow shoveling not been said to begin you wouldn't have to be reading lame one-liners.

Yes, I agree, but can't we all agree it's just not funny anymore? ;)

I know others have mentioned the possibility of a separate board for FP+ so I assume there is a reason that this idea was shot down?

With a separate board, newbies who really want to read about all of the feedback on FP+, both good and bad - could go there.

But those who just want the general Attraction and Strategies info - the kind of info that used to be the basis of this board - can get that without being distracted and (possibly discouraged) by the negativity of the FP+ specific info.

I really don't understand this.

Who are these newbies that people are always feeling bad for that can't scroll past the few FP+ threads on the first page? Why are newbies treated like they aren't smart enough to read what they're looking for? I just took a look and FP+ threads are outnumbered by the typical planning (or more like theme park talk) threads. I don't see the issue, truly.

I started a thread last week requesting this and it was shut down almost immediately - guessing it's just not going to happen.

I agree. FP+ is the hot topic here because... well... it IS the hot topic at Disney World. Thus, it's discussed. I still get lots of good information from ppl here on every other topic. Even the same ones that I'll butt heads with over my pro-FP+ stance have priceless info on anything else I've asked. :)

FP+ is new... it's change... it's touring differently than ppl used to... it's gonna be talked about.

That's true, but it's impossible to get useful information, w/o having to read post after post of negative comments posted by the same few people repeatedly. The board could benefit from a "FP+ for those who want to do nothing but complain" thread where they could post all the not-so-funny jokes & constant complaining all in one place. The other FP+ threads could contain useful info. The FP+ threads are pretty much useless now, due to all the obnoxious posts.

How about a "FP+ for those that are just so grateful Disney allows them to breathe their air for $5000" thread where they could post how wonderful everything is without addressing any flaws. The other FP+ threads could contain useful info.

Equal opportunity snark. There are over the top people on both sides of the fence. There is lots of useful information that can be found in someone's negative opinion of FP+ as well as the positive threads.

I refuse to believe you that you truly don't understand what this poster and the other poster are saying. I know you are smarter than that. :) ;)

Agreed. In the real world, people - adult people - wouldn't respond well if you tried to change a conversation by saying, "I don't like what you are saying. Stop talking about that."

The way to change a conversation is to actually change the conversation, not just tell people you don't like their current conversation (no matter how emoticons you use).

I do understand what they're saying. They're saying negative threads should be put in one place and "everything else" can go elsewhere, so people can use those. Meaning, the negative threads are just "constant complaining" and provide no value.

I think there is valuable information found in all the FP+ discussions, some more than others. Some positive comments are just as useless as negative comments. There are still tons of people who are unaware of some of the negative aspects of FP+. I would think people who are so worried about newbies would realize glossing over those aspects in favour of "FP+ is better than snow" (sorry, had to ;)) can hurt their trips as well.

I give people the benefit of the doubt. Just because someone is new to Disney (or the DIS) does not mean they aren't capable of seeking out the information they are looking for without having their minds changed by what they read.

You, on the other hand, have managed to absorb and regurgitate the condescending attitude of those other posters very well!

My post wasn't meant to be snarky in any way. If people refuse to let it go, it would be better for them to have a thread to unite in their ire w/o turning every thread into a FP+ is evil thread. Unlike some people seem to think, many of us don't think WDW does everything right. We just behave like adults & realize that we can accept change or find another vacation spot. Send a letter of complaint to the company, if you think it will help. Constantly complaining on here is only hurting the other members of the community. Unfortunately, you can't just skip past the threads that are negative as some like to suggest. Sooner or later, someone has to come in with their negative snark on the large majority of threads. It's getting way beyond old.

I don't think many people here have a problem with negative threads or negative opinions. They can be very useful. It's the "constant complaining" about the same thing, by the same people that many of us could do without. By now, we know how some of you feel. We don't need to be reminded multiple times a day. I've pretty much refrained from replying to negative FP+ threads thinking those who aren't happy about the change need to voice their opinion & get it off their chests. That should have been sufficiently accomplished by now. It's time to move on.

You haven't seen anything yet! ;)

I really don't take myself or others on this board to heart, I hope you don't either. Although it's always nice to be singled out.

In the end, it's a Disney trip planning board and while I may post my views on topics and replies, i certainly hope it doesn't come across that this is all keeping me up at night, it's not. I said my part, joked a bit, now it's over. :)

Oh, and I do looooooove emoticons.
