I'm looking for an unscented, not sticky sunscreen. I have to wear it everyday, and I can't handle any scent at all. I keep buying them and tossing them! All the neutrogena (even sensitive skin), aveeno and banana boat "unscented" ones have a strong smell to me.

I figured the experts here might have some good ideas for me!:)

IMO, unscented means they don't add extra perfume to it (the "Clinique principle"), but you will always have a smell because of the different ingredients.
Usually, the perfume they add, covers the ingredients smell with a nicer one.

ETA: it's like "no sugar added" fruit juice: it still has sugar in it from the fruit, they just didn't add additional!

I agree. I think that with sunscreens even though they are "unscented" they still add something to mask the cemical smell. I think I was told once that "unscented" can have an additive to mask smells. Have you tried Bullfrog? I think that one had the least amount of smell to it.

Kae, I finally got some Bullfrog. :) Thank you for recommending it! I got the lotion (those gel sunscreens really have a scent), and it's great. If anyone else is interested, it leaves a bit of a white cast, but that disappears pretty quickly, so I can wear it daily. It doesn't say it's unscented on the bottle, but it seems way more so than several other "unscented" versions in other brands.

Thanks again!

I might have to try that. I'm allegic to the chemical based scents in almost everything. I break out in itchy, red hives from it.

The thing is in the US, they can say unscented as long as they don't add an actual fragrance to the mix. But, of the ingredients that they put together, 1 or more may have a base ingredient of some fragrance.

So I'm allergic to even these products. I'm also very fair skinned. So I don't get to spend much time outdoors. :(

I used Eucerin spf 30 everyday. I have very fair, sensitive skin and have never had any irritation from it. I can't smell any scent at all from it.

It's white but blends in easily.

we have to look for "unscented" which is really "unperfumed" everything. Our best one is the Banana Boat for Kids (the fancy new spray ones)...no extra perfume, light, high spf and works wonders for us.

Aside from allergies... Isn't the smell the best part of sun screen? :sunny:

Not most of them! Not the high SPF ones!

The good smelling ones are the sunTAN lotions and oils, like the 2 or 4 SPF oils. :)

Everything else smells terrible.

But I was going to suggest No-Ad, from walmart, b/c it smells really neutral to me.

I use Oil of Olay unscented facial lotion with SPF 30 in it.

I have used Cetaphil spf 15 on my arms and legs in the past, I should try the others you all have mentioned. My objection to the scented ones is that I want to wear it every day and not just on my face. I don't like going to an office and smelling like the beach (or those icky chemicals) or having white sticky stuff rub off on my clothes. Plus, it clashes with my perfume!

I have to wear Clinique Cityblock (the non-chemical version-- spf 25) or Peter Thomas Roth tinted moisturizer with minerals on my face. My skin is way too sensitive for chemical sunscreen, but fortunately only on my face. Those are good ones to try if you have issues.

I use something called Ocean Potion. I have it in a roll on stick and there isn't any scent to it. I bought it at Wal Mart

when I go to the beach, I want everyone to smell like coconuts

I can't use the scented sunscreens either. They make my face feel like it is on fire. SO this year I decided to try something new. I decided to try the Clinique Sunscreen and it has been great. I bought the Clinique sun-care UV response for the face. It has an SPF of 50 and it is so great. It is a little pricey but you can find it cheaper on Ebay. I have been on vacation for over a week and I have not gotten burned on my face yet. And we have been outside for at least 12 hours a day for the last 2 days in the sun. And it doesn't take a lot to get full coverage. I am going to buy somemore when I get home. Still have part of baseball season left.

Try googling Vanicream...it's a sunscreen for people with very sensitive skin. We get the spf 30. It's the only sunscreen that won't cause an itchy rash on my kids including their face. I order it at nationalallergy.com. The 30 and the 60 have no chemical sunscreen in them. Here's a little blurb.

Like all our bath and body products, this Vanicream Sunscreen is best known for what is not in it. It is free of preservatives, dyes, perfume, fragrance or masking fragrance, lanolin, formaldehyde, PABA and benzophenones. While all sunscreens protect your skin from the sun's burning UVB rays, Vanicream Sunscreens contains Zinc Oxide or Z-Cote HP1

I use Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock. It's hypoallergenic.

Hypoallergenic does not mean unscented. Not truly so. I've used a lot of products over the years that say hypoallergenic and they still has some sort of scent and caused to me break out in hives.

bumbershoot: I've used that too. Although, the last time I bought it and used it, it broke me out. :(

But it is unscented. I wouldn't have suggested it if it wasn't since that's what the OP asked for.

I don't have sensitive skin, but this stuff is amazing, I used it during the Disney marathon and never got sunburned ( I'm fair skinned) they used to sponsor the Ironman so you know it works and it feels super light! I love it and use it on every WDW vacation!

I just read this, but it's timely for my upcoming trip.

Thanks so much! I see they sell this at REI, so I'll go over there and pick some up.
