True glamour never fades

So were you sitting there like me thinking "I would love to be at that party"?

It did look like a blast. :yay:

And the rest of the time I'm thinking how tragic :guilty:

Yes, the mental health issues are evident in the small portions of the documentary I've seen.

That's what I mean, Wally. It does seem mostly tragic. I don't find that entertaining. :confused3 I may learn something from it, but it's not entertainment for me.

What's the purpose of making the whole thing so public, so commercial? Is it going to benefit either of them? If so, that's different (and something I didn't know). If it's just a voyeuristic look into their lives, then what is the point?

Is it the Kennedy connection and our (societal "our" there) fascination with all things Kennedy? Our fascination with Jackie? :confused3 I honestly don't get it.

Entertaining not so much.

Fascinating, yes!

Watching a woman who was one step away from becoming first lady eat cat food and calling it pate makes for an interesting story for sure.

I'm not sure why I myself am so fascinated with this story, I guess it's because its about a pair of women who are down on their luck, but haven't given up...they still go on! They still have fun, laugh, sing, enjoy life, even though the world is literally crumbling in around them.

For me this song pretty much sums it up....

I haven't watched enough of the documentary to learn much about these two. What is with the head covering Edie wears? Is it just another eccentricity, or is there something up with her hair? :confused3

You fight City Hall with a Persian shawl
That used to hang on the bedroom wall,
Pinned under the chin, adorned with a pin
And pulled into a twist.

She has no hair....not sure why.

And thats another thing that is so fun about Grey Gardens, you're never quite sure about anything, the more you look into this woman the more you learn.....

I'd say it's about the journey.
Of All the places Life could have taken these two ladies -
How did they windup where they did?

So I finally got around to watching it.

It was much sadder than I thought it would be, but overall I really liked it! I thought both actresses had the parts down pat!

The best line of the movie?

Little Edie to Jacki O....

Is it true Jack Kennedy gave you Gonorrhea? :rotfl2:

little Edie had alopecia, thus the head coverings.

Really - Is that what
Rhoda Morgenstern had too?

So, as Scott is off of rehearsal tonight, we had a chance to fire up the DVR and watch this.

Wow. They're bat **** crazy!

I think the movie is very well done. I LOVED the costumes and make-up work.

Drew Barrymore is fantastic! She's just amazing in this movie. I loved her before, I love her more now.

Watching the trailer I was worried about her Boston accent, but it turned out just right! They both did a great job!

So did you find yourself a little depresed about them?

Did you laugh when she asked Jackie if Jack gave her the clap? :lmao:

YES!! We loved that line.
One quibble--Does every movie that features a gay bar or club in the 70's have to have the Village People in it?? I swear in the final shot I saw at least a cowboy, a guy in leather and a construction worker. And please, not every one in the 70's wore a mustache!!:headache:

Other than that, loved it. Jessica Lange will probably walk away with an Emmy for this.
