True Detective

My guess is no because of how he reacted to to the video and what he saw in the shed.

But then again - you never know!

I think either one of them is involved, or they both are. Here's why:

I binged rewatched episodes 1-6 this weekend. I felt like I was missing something, and during this rewatch I caught a lot of new things.

- Hart sees the way his daughters played with the dolls when he calls them for dinner in an earlier episode, and its 5 men surrounding a naked girl on the ground
- It’s the same thing we see in the video Hart watches in the most recent episode
- And it’s the same thing we see, kind of, when Rust is making little people out of the cans during his interview with the two detectives
- Then all the drawings of sexual stuff that Hart’s oldest daughter did when she was younger
- Now daughter is an artist, but is on meds, and she had a rough teen life with all the alcohol, drugs and sex
- Back when Rust and Hart were sneaking onto the meth compound Rust asked Hart if Hart ever hunted. He said yeah, that a year before he got a 10-point buck. Perhaps the same antlers we see on the dead girl from the first episode?
- Hart kills the meth dude before meth dude can see and identify him.
- Hart’s PI business ain’t working but he has a boat, a Caddie and Maggie has a big old house (which she could have remarried someone wealthy).

I dunno, just a bunch of odd things left hanging, especially with Hart's kid. I feel a major twist coming on.

FWIW, I don't see Rust making it out alive. I think he knows it too which is why he came back to tie up lose ends. Do you think Hart will be the one to do it? Is Hart using Rust to find out how much he knows before he kills him. Never thought about that ending until just about 2 minutes ago. I may have to go back and binge watch it all now.

I think maybe Hart is ignorant to it all, which adds to his inattentiveness he's mentioned in the past. The more I think about it the more I think Maggie or even Maggie's father is involved in the cult/group. Hart might piece everything together, though. Perhaps Rust already has.

If Rust gets shot or dies, I don't think it'll be Hart who does it.

First of all, love the show! Just binged the whole season.

Secondly, I was just reminded about this scene and now has me thinking.

When Hart went to see Maggie in the last episode, she said to him, something along the lines of "Are you here to say goodbye?"

Why would she ask him that? They obviously don't see each other very often but why would she specifically ask him if he came to say goodbye?

Jeez. Still don't know where this will go. But I really don't think Marty or Rust are the bad guys. Still not sure about Maggie. Was bummed to see the lawnmower guy at the end...with the scars. Don't want it to be the lawnmower guy as that's too predictable.

I don't think it is him. I think he's a little "slow" and that his involvement has been just doing what he's told. The people who are really behind things probably feel safe in assuming that no one would listen to seemingly insane stories from him and that he wouldn't be a credible witness even if someone did. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes from a family that is involved, though, and that he's the embarrassment of an otherwise impressive family tree.

Anyone else get the feeling that Hart and/or Maggie are involved with the Tuttle's cult/group?

Maggie, maybe. At the very least I think her parents are going to turn out to be part of it because of what happened with the Barbies. Marty, no. His reaction to the video, and to finding the kids in '95, doesn't fit with someone who could be involved.

That whole conversation was kind of weird, because he thanked her, but for what?

If Maggie is involved, then her decision to sleep with Rust and throw it into Hart's face just became more impacting because it derailed the investigation.

Whoah! I thought I was watching closely but I missed all of those things! You've got me rethinking everything!

I assumed he was thanking her for raising the girls and taking care of them after he left. It seemed he had little contact with them and he was thanking Maggie for taking care of them.

Going back to Maggies parents, maybe that is why she became involved with Rust, to derail the whole thing. Like I said earlier, its going to be hard to wrap this all up in an hour!

Watched the finale last night. I literally had chest pains during the pursuit.

Lawn mower man ending was kinda a let down. But it was still aa very good show...and great acting!!

I agree, although it is a great show, it left me with so many questions. Presuming many other men were involved in this, why would they follow this creepy guy as their leader? Why would the creepy half sister in the house ask lawnmower guy to "draw flowers on her" and sit on his lap, but later tell Marty lawnmower guy is the "worst of them all?" How did the black maid know about Carcosa and still be alive/not tell anyone? Why was Dora Lane not killed at Carcosa when it seems many were (they found body parts on property/IDed them).

I loved the symbolism of the stars at the end and the theme that good was in fact triumphing over evil (sky used to be all black-seems like the light is winning). Nice way to end after such a dark show. We will miss it!

Yes, and why did they make it seem like Marty's daughter had been a victim of some sort?

You're welcome!

This is going to be a run on, rambling sentence with very bad grammar so please, forgive me!

Did anybody see the connection of Rust in the reflection of the window (which could symbolize a window in to the new Rust) , looking like Jesus in his hospital bed-the opposite of what Rust believes in (almost like a "picture negative" version of himself) to his spiritual epiphany at the end of the episode?

I thought that was beautiful.

I just started watching the show and it is so good. I am up to esp. 5 and I am afraid to read any more post for fear a spoiler. MMC is great in this show as well as WH. I have been missing Breaking Bad so this show is a good new addition to my watching TV. Walter White and Jesse seem so mild in comparsion.

When the guy asks woody what about the boat and woody says it"s not mine. You know whose it is. What does that mean?

YES! YES! YES!! It was almost an exact replica of the Shroud of Turin. I yelped outloud. I've mentioned it and no one else noticed. Thank you!
