Tropical Storm/Hurricane predicted in 3-4 days

Great. We're supposed to leave home for WDW on Friday, and arrive on Sunday. Hopefully it will be gone by then?

Doesn't look overly worrysome. 10 - 19% chance it will come to Orlando over the next 3 days....That could change quite a few times by then.

I'm glad to hear that! Not just because of our trip, but those poor people have had enough. We were at WDW last year when Jeanne came through, and the devastation we saw on the way back to the airport was horrible. I know a lot of it was from Ivan and Charley, but it was just really sad to imagine what the residents have gone through, and I'm sure they're still trying to put it back together.

I'm in Louisiana, and we're keeping an eye on this one also. There's a chance it could come this way after it nears Florida.

Maybe it's me. I flew down to Florida last year for a Disney Cruise on the Magic right in the middle of Hurricane Charley, now I'm flying to Orlando for a week in WDW, and it looks like I'm going to meet Katrina. Sorry folks. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

This is by no means a hurricane. Of course, it could turn into one, but as of now, it doesn't appear that it will, and if it does, it would already be off the west coast of Florida in the Gulf.

Knock on wood, but it shouldn't be too bad...at least for Orlando. It shouldn't be anything more than a tropical storm by the time it hits shore, then it will lose strength as it moves across land.

The center of the storm is supposed to go well south of even Tampa (where I am), and Orlando shouldn't get much more than some heavy rain and some decent wind gusts.

Of course, it's still a little early to tell, but if it's just a tropical storm as it hits the southeast coast, I'm not too worried.

Katrina is forecasted to be a Category 1 hurricane when it makes landfall tomorrow. It's supposed to stay far to the south of Orlando, but I'd expect it be a little windy and rainy. Unless the NHC is wrong with their landfall prediction, I would not expect Hurricane Katrina to impact the Disney parks. After exiting into the Gulf Of Mexico to the south of Tampa, she's expected to strengthen into a much stronger hurricane. Projected path has it heading towards Louisiana....

We arrive Friday morning about 10:30 with my daughter named Katrina. I've considered her my own personal hurricane for quite a few years now!!

Many of the computer models are showing Katrina going towards the west coast and then turning back towards Orlando. This is from the 12 o clock news.

WDWBOB1:

My DD's name is Cindy, and I made the same jokes earlier this hurricane season! She got a kick out of the forecasters saying her name on the TV.

OK - I'm confused.

According to that, it's barely gonna hit as far north as Tampa. Isn't Tampa about 90 miles south of Orlando?

Tampa Bay is about 60 miles west/southwest of Orlando.

And of course, it's still early to pick a specific path. But I used this US Navy site all last year when we were getting hit so hard with so many storms and they were one of the most accurate.

Well, if they're right, I'm happy. We get into Orlando at 10:30AM on Saturday. I could care less about rain. As long as the parks stay open, I'm happy.

of the four computer models they showed on the news this morning, only ONE of them showed tht it would go up the eastern coast of FL. The other three have the TS moving accross south FL. As a resident of Orlando, i'd be thankful for Katrina to stay away. One more hurricane and my but is moving back to Phila. Charley, Frances & Jeanne were plenty, thank you.

Goodness! I hope this one stays far away from you guys! I hate huricanes. We flew down to Tampa in 2000 for our honeymoon cruise and we were the last flight in before they were grounded. it was a wild ride I tell ya that. It was so messy when we got there. Things were flying all over the place. Luckily it was not too bad but we did end up missing almost 2 days off of our cruise so they put everyone up in a hotel til we could board. How come one of the most fun places to go either for cruises, Disney, etc.. have sooo many huricanes?? :confused3
