Tropical storm Ana formed

Hi folks, The first named storm of the season has formed, had been struggling to survive but has re energised, projected path albeit they can deviate quite markedly is to hit florida in about 5- 7 days, if it dies exoect torrential downpours and gusty conditions.The one behind it looks more threatening.We are flying out on Tuesday::

we was out there a few years ago durning the hurricane, and it wasnt that bad, the next day in the parks you wouldnt have known it had happened.
hope you make it there safely and dont get delayed x

What are you guys feelings about this? Would you loose sleep over it? I think, for some reason, I would feel quite safe in Disney during a storm. (But this has never happened!!!!)

I've been out there in a hurricane, 20 odd years ago on my first visit. Staying down the coast and it was magnificent. Wasn't too alarmed because everyone was so well organised. Remember going into the supermarkets and everyone asking if we were ok on hearing our English accents.

Last year we were stuck in TS Fay - downgraded from a hurricane. It struck where we had been down the beach the week before, followed us to Orlando. The most alarming thing was watching all the coverage on the TV (there seemed to be only two things newsworthy last August - the US Olympics (no other teams were mentioned) and TS Fay. We were staying in our villa in Orlando, had already booked one night at the Portofino Bay and extended this to two days because of the dire weather forecasts.

Whilst it really was nice to stay 2 days at this resort, we couldn't use the pools, and the storm never really got to anything other than a lot of wind and some rain - like we said to anyone who asked why we were wandering around, this is just like England

It certainly wouldn't stop me, I wouldn't lose too much sleep - but of course it's something that you're going to worry about, it's your holiday after all and you want nothing to ruin/spoil it.

We are off in October - two October's ago when we went, our 4th time in October, the weather was awful - we got stuck under a tropical depression which lasted over three weeks. We were only there for 9 nights and half of that was stuck in this heavy, grey cloud with our trip to Busch Gardens totally ruined by it lashing it down all day once we'd got there.

Has it stopped us going in October - check out my countdown (she says with everything crossed for better weather this time).

We fly out tomorrow (just completed on line check in and printed the boarding passes!) and I am not worried. Worse case we get lots of heavy rain and winds for a while, but there is plenty to do at the resort so we will be OK. The 1st day we were at WDW on our 1st trip there was a massive storm, high winds, pouring rain. Disney shut down the transport and you were basically stuck where you were. Luckily we were back in our hotel changing for dinner. We just swapped our ADR to a restaurant in our hotel and enjoyed our meal. By the time we had finished eating the storm was over and transport was back on.

First trip in 92 we just missed Andrew....
2nd was 98 and Georges was floating around....
there was 1 (cant remember the name) in 99
And was out there for the big one Charlie.....wont lose any sleep and flying out on 30th august....I must admit going October is much better because there's less crowds and less storms. No wont lose any sleep.

we were out there for hurricane jeanne a few years abck and disney were great, we had to stay in our room for 24 hours but the next day everything was back to normal

We were out there for TS Faye last year too; had to swap plans round a bit (didn't go to waterparks on days planned) and as previous poster said only problem was loss of 'pool'. In fact we had a great time in MK on the day storm was due to arrive (that evening) park was nearly empty-Disney warned they may have to close parks early but it didn't happen as far as I'm aware.

Obviously we'd prefer not to have another one but I felt really safe at Disney-definately don't loose sleep

Not impressed! we fly out next saturday. I think if i had more time I wouldnt be bothered but i only have a week. Oh well ponchos it is. I just hope our flights will be ok

Hopefully it won't come to much. I remember when I was about 9 being there for a storm coming and people were stocking up on water etc, but it didn't amount to much in the end. My mom was worrying (but she worries generally!) that we would have to sleep in the bath!

TD Three has also now developed, the one more threatening to me.

Both look to be going to FL but we were at Vero Beach last year during Fay and never touched the pool so I am not that bothered.
If it happens, it happens. Nothing more we can do.

Just hopes it steers off.

Well, it looks like we have TS Ana and TS Bill now, and they seem to be on track to develop into hurricanes, but early predictions aren't everything I guess. Fay went back and forth a LOT last August and when it hit Disney, it just seemed like Autumn/Winter (or even Summer this year ) in the UK

The only thing that worries me about really bad weather is flight delays/cancellations Especially as I'm starting university 3 or 4 days after I come back - I sure hope I'm not delayed!!

I suppose that is always a possibilty. So long as you are safe though, I wouldn't worry about delays.

We're flying into PHL first next friday so hopefully can get into Orlando before anything major too or after, hopefully. Maybe just delays?
We were in Fay last year so yeah.

Looking at the satellie image too, Claudette looks not far behind it too also according to the weather channel.

Ana doesn't look to get to a hurricane but up to 70mph winds however Bill looks like with predicitions could get to Cat 2 hurricane but predictions show its going west so could likely go to the gulf.

we were delayed a day in 2004 and then got hurricane jeanne while out there.

i'll be watching closely as well as we fly a week on thursday

The hurrucane season seems to have started late this year?
