Planning is now underway for this year - was going to be December but DH wanted to go when it was a bit warmer, then it was going to be October but DH 'remembered' the Rugby World Cup ! Now we're waiting on Saddam

Anyway - I had some literature from this place last year and wondered if anyone had stayed/heard anything about it ?

Giving this a bump Tracey to see if we can find some help for you :D :D :D

Tropical palms is great! DH and I stayed there on our last trip to Disney and we could not have been more pleased. The cabins are roomy, some have sleeping lofts for the kids and the bathrooms are good size. There is a dining table in the kitchen are that will seat four and there is a small stove/oven. Microwave and small fridge, and there is a dishwasher! The atmosphere of the place is great, its far enough off of 192 that you hear no traffic noise and a short walk down their private drive will take you to Old Town. I cant tell you how much we really enjoyed staying there. We are going to make reservations there again for our next trip. I think your family will like this resort much better than a hotel.
Do a search on the boards for Tropical Palms, and you will find lots of positive reports and info. Have Fun!!!

they are cheap enough - what's the catch?

I've just checked next december and for a 2 bedroom cottage it's only $79/night.

Thank you TinkerPixie :D I've found good reports about the RV campground but only a bad report about the cabins (small and dirty) . Your report says the opposite - if you say you'd book again that a good enough recommendation for me (and its only $59 per night in June for the studio cottage :Pinkbounc That should be plenty big enough for 2 adults and 2 young children !

We had no complaints at all about the cleanliness of the cabins! You dont have maid service while you stay, unless you request it, but, it was spotless at checkin. The cabins dont seem a bit small, and you do have a good size private deck with several chairs, if you need to spread out a bit.

Staff was very nice, and helpful - there's a small store within the office - the grounds and pools (one is for kid) are very clean - nice laundromat on the grounds - and the poolside cafe that serves breakfast and lunch is incredibly cheap for some very large portions of food. It's very quiet there yet very close to Old Town.
It only took us about 5 minutes to drive to the parks. You're also located right off of 192 which has tons of stores and such to shop in. It is convenient and comfortable. Lots of space to move around. It really does feel like you are at a resort in the tropics. Let me know if I can answer any questions... :D

Thanks - I did a search as you suggested (should have thought of that myself really  ) and turned up loads of good reports and only one or two negative ones. I can definitely see us booking there this trip - it sounds similar to the Davy Crockett @ DLP which we loved :D
