We decided at the last minute to arrive 2 nights earlier than our 8/5-15 ressie! The Fort is booked solid.:sad1: We are looking at staying at the Tropical Palms campground for our 1st two nights. Does anyone know if this is an okay campground?

We stayed at TP June 1-3 and it was very nice. The pool was good and it's located close to all the attractions.

i have had no luck with tring for the fort for that same time............

We have stayed at Tropical Palms and liked it very much. It's not the Ft but it's the next best thing in my opinion. :thumbsup2

FW is booked solid?! Last year during August it was practically deserted - entire loops with 1 or 2 sites occupied. We've got ressies starting July 29, so this I've gotta see!

It depends what type of site you are looking for. Here is their web site:

We got a quote last month of $86 a day but I don't remember which type of site it was that we had booked. We got lucky and got the extra days in FW that we were looking for. But, the people that we spoke with at TP were very nice.

Maybe one reason you could be having trouble getting ressies at the Fort is because effective this school year Florida has a new law (or ordinance) that states no school district can start the school year before 8/20/07. That means students are starting school about 2 weeks or more later than the years prior.
