Wow....who knew there could be so much controversy over shorts at dinner. I guess maybe it's the rebel in me but no way could you get me to wear a tropical shirt with out shorts....casual comfortable shorts at that Permission or no permission....I am planning on shorts on tropical night....can't wait. But then again this is comming from someone who lives in shorts.......graduating from collage...fellow classmates pooled money together to purchase me pants...guess they figured I just didn't have any...since I'd show up in the middle of winter in shorts and flip flops. I'm saving the capris for all the other nights in the dinning room.
On our two previous 7 night cruises we have been encouraged by the dining staff to wear shorts and DH did both times (as did a majority of the room). On our Navigators from both cruises there was no mention of the "no shorts". I remember this same discussion a year ago where our Navigator didn't mention it and Three Circles did (where they sailed a few weeks before us). So it seems like DCL is still going round and round on the issue.
Our plan for Dec. is to go by what the Navigator and our dining staff says. If they encourage shorts he'll wear them, if not he'll slip into a pair of dockers for dinner and then into shorts for the deck party. I have a dress for the evening so it doesn't matter to me.
