Tropical Dreams, Mermaid Food, and Wishes on Wheels Oh My! 1st PTR

Awww, I hope your day was filled with good memories of your mom and your heart was full of the love you shared. The Stand is one of my favorite Stephen King books too!
Thank you dear I really appreciate that! I miss her daily and handled yesterday better than I had hoped. She loved Stephen King! The Stand is a pretty fantastic book! Which others do you enjoy?

Wow! :yay: This looks great. I loved getting to know you and your family. A handsome husband, lovely daughter and rascally son, you've been blessed in many ways. Being the Disney fanatic like I am just adds to your charm! Don't know if I have the umph to start one of these, but I'll enjoy following yours. ::yes::

We could not get Snow White or Pinocchio so we hung our heads, cried, and gave up Disney movie night...

of course we didn't! We're a family of Disney addicts -erm...some of us more than others. o_O
So we watched the next down the list and certainly for the time the most innovative...

Celestey and I are going to Phantom of the Opera in Portland tonight! Have a lovely evening everyone! ❤️

When I was fourteen I read the the novel of 'The Phantom of the Opera' by Gaston Leroux and ever since have dreamed of seeing it live on stage. Flash forward many years...my daughter at age twelve became interested in gothic horror literature we covered Poe, Dracula, Frankenstein, and finally the Phantom of the Opera. I do believe the story resonated for her as well because when we found that Phantom was touring and would be coming up here to the Pacific Northwest she asked that we go see it as her 14th birthday present. * A month later Pete got up really early and secured 2 tickets for Phantom!

The production has been reimagined and we found out that it is the very same production- though with touring cast Chris Mann as The Phantom and Katie Travis as Christine Daaé-as the one on Netflix right now (Phantom of the opera at Royal Albert Hall).

The cast was talented and the stage designers brilliant. It was a lush and haunting show, and it was even better than we hoped it would be!

We're making plans to take the Rascal to see Beauty and the Beast or Newsies as his first show!
Celeste requested that she and I attend Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street next year, and that will be certain to be a hair raising experience! :scared1: *shiver*

* For her actual birthday months ago we went to Into the Woods, had dinner together at the theatre restaurant, and then ended the evening with Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies.

While we're trying our best to see Disney movies in order we keep running into a pickle. Most Disney films are only released for a short time, and if you miss that window it will be years before another chance comes along. So...it seems we'll miss some, but are doing our best to piece together Disney film history. :smickey:

The kids had never seen Pinocchio and Pete I had not seen it since we were little. After trying to rent from a couple of sites, I ended up finding the entire film on youtube.

Both kids loved it and are starting to get some real perspective on hand animation and what went into it! I really feel that the characters in Pinocchio were some of the most fully realized in Disney's early history...and I only cried twice.

The other night we managed to watch both Pinocchio and Dumbo (the latter is on Netflix currently). This one was hard to watch for me as I cry almost all of the way through it for both both sad and happy moments. It sparked some really good and honest conversation about racism and stereotypical portrayals in movies and our culture.

Pink elephants on parade! Look out! Look out!

When I was a tiny girl the pink elephant scene scared the daylights out me, and I still find it to be quite unnerving!

Pete is bowing out of Disney movies until we're up to his favorite era- pretty much anything from the 70's and after. I asked the kids last night if they would like to stop trying to watch the history of Disney films and they both said that they want to keep doing this. Have to admit I was pretty pleased as they both seem to be learning quite a bit, and have a new appreciation for Disney!

Next up is Bambi and it's another one that causes massive waterworks for me, but I can't wait to see their reactions!

We had guests this Memorial Day weekend, and those friends went home yesterday, soon I'll get caught up on PTRs, TRs, and also replies here. :D
Feeling a little topsy turvy as we're trying to get everything wrapped up for the end of the school year and deal with some weird stuff! I'm very off, lost in
migraine land and feel a bit loopy but this is one of those days I'm just trying to keep my head above water. Hope you are well and Disney dreaming! Bye for now! *love*~ Rebecca

Interesting. I think I was about 9-12. Don't remember. But something like that.
