Tropical Dreams, Mermaid Food, and Wishes on Wheels Oh My! 1st PTR

Interesting. I think I was about 9-12. Don't remember. But something like that.
Neat! Quite the memorable book that one, so you were/are a reader to it seems? I knew I had even more reasons to like you!
Awwww... poor lil' mermaid.
200.gif

aww you always make me smile
Hope you start feeling a bit better! :flower3:
Thank you sweet friend!
Dumbo totally makes me cry too.
I think this last time will be my last time, but it was happier than I remembered it being!
That's good that you are able to use it to spark some good talks. I often try to do that...but they usually roll their eyes and back out of the room lol
I think mine are inwardly rolling their eyes some of the time. ;)
Sweeney Todd is brilliant. BRILLIANT. Actually, almost everything Sondheim wrote is brilliant. See them all :D.
I shall do my best, and now I'm excited to see it! :D
Hi Rebecca!!!
Hi Tracy! How are you doing with the post Disney feelings? Planning another trip back yet dear?
Don't worry - you're in great company here on the boards - we can all encourage Disney-crazy-behavior here!!! :thumbsup2
so glad for that!
So sorry about your mom.... sending you hugs :hug: And she'll absolutely be there with you on the trip in spirit.
Thank you sweetie, she will be, and she would have loved AK and EPCOT. :)
Sorry to hear you're feeling off - hope you feel better asap!!!
Thanks for that!
Just wanted to say I love Phantom
I do as well, and seeing it live was really a spectacular event!
hope y'all enjoy Sweeney Todd too
we're excited as we've seen the movie, it is one of my 14 year old daughter's very favorite musicals!
And yes Dumbo (and several other disney movies) make me cry too
which are your other tear filled movies?

Oh, Dumbo. I don't know if my New Mama heart can handle Dumbo anymore!
Oh that was such a sweet sentence! Your new mama heart should indeed wait a bit before watching Dumbo.
Apparently, it was my most favorite Disney movie as a little little girl, and I always was very fond of the elephants on parade scene.
Aww neat! *shiver* that scene still gives me the here jeebies!
But I happened to watch it either sometime while pregnant or just after I had my daughter and I could not contain my sobs! SOBS!
I could not have watched it at all so totally understand!
I'm sure that Rascal would love Newsies
We've got the movie on our list to watch at least, and I'm pretty hopeful that he has a great reaction to it!
I was very fortunate to have seen that production on Broadway when I tagged along on my daughters' dance trip one year.
That would be incredible!!!
Hope your migraines settle down soon.
Thank you dear! Sometimes they go away for a month, other times they stay for ages. lol. Do you get them?
I love Phantom, I saw it in London a few years ago and it was soooo good!
I'll bet that was just an awesome experience! How did they handle the chandelier?
I have the DVD of the film version and I still think it's hilarious that Gerard Butler was the Phantom! :rotfl:
Such a weird casting choice!
That movie has more than its share of weird casting- I don't understand Emmy Rossum as Christine. *shakes head* She looks right for the part, but certainly does not have the right vocal range.
That drives me crazy about Disney! Seriously can they not just put all the movies out and just leave them out?? :earseek:
Yes! The Vault thing is just past time to do away with. Already we've a sizable Disney movie collection but we would happily buy or rent all of the Disney movies on our list, as we cannot though, some we watch on youtube.
I always wondered how mermaids cry...I mean you all live in water so how do you know if you are crying? :scratchin
If I tell you I would have to turn you...
200.gif

though that would make your upcoming water experience easier ;)
Now, you see, I cannot watch Dumbo :sad2: I would just be a blubbering wreck!
I was. lol. *sigh*
That is a really creepy scene :scared: I still get freaked by it too!
The hollow soulless eyes are what get to me! They look like voids and give me the shivers!
Again cannot watch Bambi. Too many tears
I used to cry like crazy to Bambi, but didn't this time. weird.
Hope you had an awesome Memorial Day weekend! Just remember:

Um, I do not see Bedknobs and Broomsticks on your list...Angela Lansbury - the original Mrs. Lovett.....
I will add it straightaway! I've never watched that one, but do have Escape to Witch Mountain and things on the list. EDIT: Added! :D
Hi there! :D
It seems I had a lot to catch up on.
I'm still trying to get caught up on everyone's reports as well!
I love your Disney math.
thank ya lady! It was helpful as now I don't have to worry over it anymore and found a bunch of restaurants with veggie and/or pescatarian options, plus we're TS fiends no matter where we are! lol.
I thought about doing that but math is hard.
Hehe I hear you there, the calculator helped. ;)
It's good that you are going to come out on top.
I was surprised in a happy way!
So sorry about your mom.
Thank you so much, I do indeed miss her.
Looks like you had a fun time at Phantom. :thumbsup2
We did! I feel so alive at the theatre! Also it is seeming to be something Celeste is drawn to, so she's going to take an acting class as soon possible!
Your watching some good Disney and Marvel movies. I also found it hard to get the Disney movies I wanted to see. I had to borrow some from a friend.
Yay for friends! :D Some of them really are challenging to find, if you don't buy them before they go back into the *sigh* Vault.
Wow Rebecca! You had a very eventful couple of weeks with lots of ups & downs!
Indeed it has been a bit batty around here, everything will calm a bit mid June, and I'm looking forward to it! :D
I hope Celeste is feeling better! Strep throat is awful.
Thank you so much! She's right as rain now, and not one other soul in the house ended up catching it, and I'm grateful!
Phantom was my first Broadway play too when I was about your DD's age.
Oh I'll bet you have some very special memories from that production! Where did you get to see it? :D
It's amazing how long its been running! I guess it goes to show why people love it so much.
Agreed. I think it is the right blend of action, dance, and touching storyline, to appeal to a wide spectrum of the population. I'm so grateful we had a chance to see it!
I can't wait for Newsies! We may try and take our kiddos since it's coming our way too!
Oh neat! Do they enjoy theatre as well?! :D
We don't get as many of the plays come out East as you guys do on the West side.
That really surprised me! I thought East Coast had more shows than West Coast! Interesting.
Beauty & the Beast came a couple years ago and it was awesome. Your Rascal would love it! Lots to keep a boy entertained!
I'm so glad you got to see it! I'm really hopeful about us going, my husband doesn't really want to, but I'm cool with that, he's just not a musical sort of fella. :) My son wants to see it though and plans to get all dressed up and everything! :D
Thank you so much for sharing those beautiful pictures and backgroud of you & your family.
You are so very kind! Thank you for being here!
I loved the one of the 4 of you in Kawai! We have a very similar picture in that same spot! Waimea Canyon, right? Josh was 22 months old and kept climbing that dang railing with nothing but a chain link fence between him and certain death. Scared the begeezus out of me!
Yes it is! I would love to see your picture, and oh that railing made me nervous!!!
Sorry i'm so behind!
Are you kidding?! You seem quite up to date to me! I'm still trying to get caught up on everything and all the luvverly reports!

Hi I'm Rebecca :wave2: and I'm so happy to have you here! :welcome:
I just happened to see you post over on @pkondz TR
I've been there rather a lot 'cause he's awesome!
I saw something about a July 2016 trip. I just had to come over and check it out... especially since July 2016 is kind of on the table for a possible trip...

NEAT!!! When do you think you might go?! Which resort? Have you ever met anyone anyone from the boards? Will you be starting a PTR soon? *hopes*
Anyway, I just tried to read through your updates to catch up.
I'm a babblebutt so there are quite a few pages now! O.o
Great job on a first PTR and I love your use of gifs.
Why thank you kindly my new friend!

I should really use more myself.

Yes you should as they are quite addictive!
I had to google Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I've never heard of that one before.
It's weird genetic disorder that often makes me feel like one of those dolls with rubber bands for joints...well, that or an alien. ;) Today is one of the latter. lol.
Mad respect for you, your art skills, and love of life.
You are the bee's knees!
Dealing with the migraines, pain, discomfort and being in a wheelchair would bring a lesser person down.
Wow, you certainly brightened this day!!!
It was kind of like this...

but now it's more like this!

My intent was to just say hi and catch up...
Well, I'm so ding dang glad you did! :D

She's smart, sassy, sexy, strong, and emotional! What's not to love?! She's also one of my favorite characters in Winter Soldier! :lovestruc
I know this is just a snippet of the post, but I enjoyed the backstory about your family.
thanks for that :) we're a weird bunch
I think it is awesome that you and your mom seemed to have such a close and great relationship. I'm sorry she never was able to come along on a Disney trip, but I wish you nothing but the best in taking this trip in her honor.
We had a brutal and scary relationship for many years, she was an abused wife, and I was an abused kid. Over time though we healed some and grew to love and respect each other very much, and I do miss her dearly.
I'd tell you to have a Dole Whip for her while you're there, but I might need to go back and look at that allergy list again to make sure pineapple isn't on there.
I'll bet she would have loved those! I will totally have one in July of 2016!
Okay so when do you know if you guys will be heading there in the same month we are?!

Thought I'd join the fun. :) I see you around on others I interact with and think this one will be a fun place to hang out.... when I can. Kinda busy with Nursing School, but suuuuuuuuumer's comiiiiiiing!! I'll bookmark and be back soon. Ish.

It held up surprisingly well, and we still can't figure out a few of the animation techniques.

It's all done with computers.

Wait....

uh...

nevermind.

Neat! Quite the memorable book that one, so you were/are a reader to it seems? I knew I had even more reasons to like you!

Of course I'm a reader! I've literally been reading longer than I can remember.

When I was in grade 4 (so... 9 yr old?) I got so engrossed in the book I was reading that when the bell rang for recess, I didn't even hear it.
I didn't hear all the other kids get up and leave either.
What I did hear was a <click> as my teacher took a picture of me reading.
I had that picture for a long time, but alas, with a few moves, it got misplaced.
I still have the book, though.

aww you always make me smile

Good! :goodvibes

I've been there rather a lot 'cause he's awesome!

She's right Andy. I am.
I love an intelligent woman (or mermaid... )

I'm so glad y'all enjoyed the show! The only stage show I've seen was in London at the Drury Threatre!
That sounds fantastic the Drury Theatre has such a history!
We saw Anything Goes and was definitely a trip highlight!
I'll bet that was a great musical to see there!
Rascal would probably LoVe Newsies! Never a dull moment there!
Celeste really wants to see it, but she's a big fan of musicals. We watched the trailer together and the boy did not have much positive to say but I secretly think the Rascal will enjoy it as well!
Hi there!
Hi there! :welcome:
I just wrote my first ore trip report (I already messed it up) and saw yours!
May you please link your trip report and I'll come read along! :D
Enjoying reading it!!!! I am going ot add lists of tp my family's favors too, you inspired me!
oh neat! I love learning what others favorites are!
I love live theater! I saw both Beauty and the Beast and Newsies and I vote Newsies!
How very cool that you saw them both! Celeste wants to see Newsies live and Rascal wants to see Beauty and the Beast. She liked live theatre even when she has small. The next time though is to introduce him to theatre so it gets to be his choice. :D
Hope all is well

I'll just be here waiting for your TR update. *smiles* Have you thought of a July 2016 trip, I mean just in case.
I don't think I've watched Bambi in oh....way too many years to admit...
The kids had never seen it, and they liked the humor quite a bit. :)
I may have to dig that one up!!
How are your trip plans coming lady? :D

I'll just be here waiting for your TR update. *smiles* Have you thought of a July 2016 trip, I mean just in case.

Working on the update right now.
I'm actually finding that allocating points and keeping track is taking up a lot of time.
It's for a good cause (my readers) so I'm okay with it.

And of course I've thought about July 2016.
You'll be there!

Finally caught up with your PTR. I hope you're feeling better and can keep the migraines at bay.
Up to date on yours as well dear!
We're hitting the last week of school here and it's just ridiculous how much stuff goes on. I can barely keep anything straight at this point.
I totally understand this! My son is on his last week of school and it looks as if my daughter may have state testing this week, blegh. End of school year cannot get here soon enough.
Oh - my middle daughter is called Boo.
Awww :) it is one of a very few nicknames I've never minded being called. Also the cousin that gave it to me is a really good guy and always has been when of my closest relatives.
The first time I saw Monsters, Inc., I totally cried at the end. What am I saying, I always cry at the end, when Boo yells out, "Kitty!"
I do too!
Your mom sounds like she was an awesome lady.
She was a complex woman with many good and not so grand points, and I miss her in every way. :lovestruc
The Stand is my absolute favorite Stephen King book. I tend to prefer his older stuff. I remember reading It one summer and it scared the carp out of me. I still think the clown slide at the Boardwalk Inn pool looks like Pennywise.
The Stand is one of my faves, I got my love of reading from my mother. :) I think so too about the slide looking like Pennywise the Clown, that thing gives me the willies!
I cry at everything. It's silly.
 Ditto.
Can't watch Dumbo at all.
totally get that
My oldest daughter will stare at me to see if I start bawling at anything remotely sad.
Hehe my son does the same thing, my daughter is quite used to me bursting into tears for happy and sad things. lol.
My middle daughter sang "Do you want to build a snowman?" at the talent show last year and I was just a puddle at the end.
Oh I'll bet it was just beautiful! That song makes me cry too, and it would be such a special moment watching your child sing it!
And I completely understand doing the DP if it makes your husband happy.
It does indeed, and at least this time he was right, he enjoyed learning that too. lol. DDP relaxes him, which makes the time better for all of us.
By and large, all my husband wants to know is when we're going on vacation and how he should pack. The only thing he cares about is where we stay.
Nice! Good that he has some preferences as well. I think planning is most fun when there are others taking an interest as well. :D
He loves AKL. I love trying the different resorts, but if he wants to go to AKL, that's fine with me. He doesn't ask for anything else.
It looks like such a well themed and beautiful resort with some of the best food at Disney! One of the vacation within a vacation sort of resorts-which I think are going to be my favorites lol. If there were any transportation options besides bus we would plan a stay there as well. Can't wait to read more of your plans!

Thought I'd join the fun. :) I see you around on others I interact with and think this one will be a fun place to hang out
Hello new friend I'm Rebecca! :wave2:
Kinda busy with Nursing School, but suuuuuuuuumer's comiiiiiiing!
I'll bet you are busy! Glad you'll get a summer break though!

This is such a sweet memory :)

Working on the update right now.
I read it last night, and really liked it but was to bleary to comment properly!
I'm actually finding that allocating points and keeping track is taking up a lot of time.
It's for a good cause (my readers) so I'm okay with it.
I'll bet it does, there are a crazy amount of points to allocate and remember!
And of course I've thought about July 2016.
You'll be there!
It would be so super fantabulous to meet up! We are probably going back in Dec. or Jan. of 2018 as well, in case July is not golden for you!

200.gif

When Celeste was an itty bitty thing she liked Cinderella. Now as a..hmm...less enchanted teen she bowed out of watching this one, and only deigned to leave her room when the film was over. The Rascal and I enjoyed this movie though and found more humor than either of us expected. That our fluffy fat cat Louie strongly resembles Lucifer from the film, made it more appealing to the Rascal, but this was still not a fave.

200.gif

I personally found the entire film to be more charming than I had remembered it being, and the character of Cinderella is actually quite a sweet, generous, strong-willed soul, with a little sass! Pleasantly surprised how enjoyable this one was. *smiles*

I get that.... I got home from work at 7:15 this morning... Fell asleep around 8....
And then for God only knows what reason, I was up at 12:30 or so.

We are probably going back in Dec. or Jan. of 2018 as well, in case July is not golden for you!

I'll keep that in mind! :goodvibes

I've been there rather a lot 'cause he's awesome!
Be careful. You don't want to give him a big head now, do you?

NEAT!!! When do you think you might go?! Which resort? Have you ever met anyone anyone from the boards? Will you be starting a PTR soon? *hopes*
Um... don't know, don't know, yes, maybe-ish...

Ok, truth is, we weren't really planning to go back for a couple of years. DW's sister and her family went a few years ago, struggled with the crowds, and determined that they want to go back with me.

Cause I'm awesome.

About a month ago, SiL and DW started talking about going next summer. And then they talked about inviting some others to join us. I'm all for planning a trip, but a summer trip for a huge group... :faint:

Anyway, no, I can't answer any questions. Not even 100% sure the trip will happen and the timing will depend on the schedules of others. I've been putting pressure on DW to figure out the who and when so I can start planning the trip if they really want me to plan it all.

It's weird genetic disorder that often makes me feel like one of those dolls with rubber bands for joints...well, that or an alien. ;) Today is one of the latter. lol.
:rotfl2:

I'll bet she would have loved those! I will totally have one in July of 2016!
Okay so when do you know if you guys will be heading there in the same month we are?!
That part of the trip planning process is out of my control... we're not off to a good start. :rotfl:

Hmmm... I think this fox has something to say to that...
200.gif
and i have to concur ;) :P
Ok, now I've got that "what does the fox say" song in my head. Thanks. :headache:

I personally found the entire film to be more charming than I had remembered it being, and the character of Cinderella is actually quite a sweet, generous, strong-willed soul, with a little sass! Pleasantly surprised how enjoyable this one was. *smiles*
Good movie! I enjoy it. I think it was the first Disney movie I saw growing up. If not, it is the first that I remember. Our kids seem to like it and it is on heavy rotation among their movie viewing, so I've seen it several times recently.

Made it a fair way through as the last thing I do before hitting the sack before tomorrow's exam.

Hello new friend I'm Rebecca! :wave2:

Hello back at ya!

I'll bet you are busy! Glad you'll get a summer break though!

It'll be a pseudo-break; we're getting our reading list and front-loading stuffs on Wednesday. Oh yay.

I'll pop on over to your PTR as well!

OH boy! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!! See you there!! :D

STAAAAWWP the phone! Did you say you are from Portland? As in Portland, OR?? Cuz, if that's the case we'll be having to get a little soire going soon. ;) A little Meet up to talk all things Disney!

"Oh my furry ears and whiskers! I'm late I'm late I'm late"
for everything, all the time, constantly (redundant much? wait don't answer that :crazy2:)...or at least that is how it feels at present. Last week of 3rd grade for the Rascal and last two weeks for Celeste the 9th grader. My mother's  and gramma's  birthdays to get through the 3rd and 5th- then Gramma's memorial on the 8th. June has me in a tizzy and it is but the 1st- scratch that-2nd day.

Our movie watching habits have outpaced my ability to keep up, so I'll do them in batches instead.
200.gif

Alice in Wonderland was just about exactly as we remembered it.

200.gif

After waving goodbye to Wonderland we soared off to Neverland. Peter Pan is a bit more of a scamp than I realized.
200.gif

The Rascal really loved Lady and the Tramp and the whacky cast of character, but especially Lady.

We've actually watched three more movies on
that ever so long list, but the one coming up has become one of my very favorites and I was blown away by the art and design of it!

This is a Disney dreaming day if there ever was one. *sigh*

Three of my all time favorites! I love the golden age movies! I have a sneaking suspicion I know which movie you were blown away by, and it is possibly my favorite ever pixiedust:.

Alice in Wonderland was just about exactly as we remembered it.
Interesting movie. Not one of my favorites, but gotta love the Mad Hatter.

Peter Pan is a bit more of a scamp than I realized.
Is that a bad thing? :rotfl2:

The Rascal really loved Lady and the Tramp and the whacky cast of character, but especially Lady.
You know, I haven't seen this movie in ages. Like since I was a little kid. Probably ought to watch it again sometime.

I'm sorta randomly working my way through helter skelter-like and clicked on the pick-yer-restaurants... over a year early chapter. So, I curious... how are you doing that?! Do you already have your park days and itinerary picked? Did I miss that part?? Seriously, do you live in Oregon? If so, I can meet up for lunch like next week and we can talk, plan and dream. Cuz that's all Imma gonna do for a while starting on Thursday!! Anyways... back to read.
