Tron Lightcycle Run coming to MK

I'm guessing the universal third gate...when they cross the rubicon knows as I-4 will be announced within 2 years. That and another 3-4 resort hotels.

Transportation is the problem...but for years Orange County and Florida have had no problems going against what big brother disney has wanted...it's in their own self interests now.

Yep. And US knows the amount of area DC takes up. It quite a chunk. They could probably add 3 attractions in that space over time. Just think of what Disney could do with the Speedway area.

Yep...that's why I call the layout "clunky"...they had to take a circuitous route to be "dueling"...not a good use of a B&M machine

I actually like that they are willing to pull a 20 yr ride out.

One of the pitfalls disney falls into at times is trying to make EVERYTHING a classic...

Some things are...small world, pirates, etc...

Some need to go and don't have a 30 year service life.

Like we are 16 years into "new" imagination...it's disgusting. It makes the whole park look bad.

They rethemed two coaster over at IOA to get potter up because the IP was a sure hit. They chose speed over caution.

Now that they built the second section and have added a lot of other things on their properties...they're going back and eliminating one of those stopgaps...

I hate to see coasters go...but this makes sense.
Oh don't get me wrong I'm annoyed for my husband (I don't do loops and whatnot) as he really liked the thrill part of the ride but I totally get why they are doing a different ride. I knew it was coming long ago-it's been said multiple times on the DIS Unplugged Universal Edition for a while now. HP is what reinvigorated Universal so for them it's a no-brainer to just keep adding more at this point.

That's more or less what I was wondering about with the land. It's easy to say now we understand that Universal has a space constraint and thus they don't have too much of an issue removing rides but would their choices be the same if they had more land.

I get you on the classics thing with Disney-maybe that's part of the problem in that Disney has built a marketing campaign for years for being sorta this nostalgic brand filled with classics from your childhood, etc. I want to say that I'm sad to see every ride that has gone go but I'm not. Some I really truly miss and others....

On that note I have been wondering will this new coaster that they are put in the same spot as DC be in the same footprint of the old one or will the footprint change?

Hotels are a given and being planned for the Wet N Wild site.

When they dueled it worked, though. The near misses added to the anticipation and excitement of the ride. Once they took the dueling away they became individual relatively short coasters that weren't anything incredibly special. I mean any B&M inverted is always going to be OK in my book, but without the dueling aspect the individual coasters don't really stand up to the best of the breed on their own.

It's really when...not "if"...

Unlike the Brazil pavilion in Epcot...

Comcast has deep pockets and is entering their ip acqusition phase...

And disney did all the probing for them years ago...what did they learn at DAK? People come for a max 7 days in most cases.

Disney has been paralyzed by this for 20 years more than the public realizes. Comcast is at the 3-4 or so day mark and can move right up to 7 when they want...the trail is blazed already.

I would assume it would be in the same spot and believe the footprint would change as people are more conscious of space than they were 20 years ago. They really could fit multiple e-tickets in that area. Again just an assumption on my part though.

I gotta be honest...other than the foot to foot loop and the barrel roll...it was the worst B&M inverted I've been on other than the great bear at Hershey...and I've been on like 15+

My question is what major IP is left that could draw people in like Potter? Lord of the Rings is out there but I don't see the Tolkien estate giving it up. I just don't know if Comast can top Star Wars.

Honestly, I think Nintendo may actually be bigger than Star Wars for the demographic they're after. You could make a case that Halo would be utterable in the same sentence, even if not close to being on the same actual level.

It depends on how underwhelming they build the attractions...to be honest.

This is where I hear George Lucas saying "I realized that no matter what I did...everyone was gonna hate it..."

No, George/Disney...we'll
Only hate it if it's a cop out or suckfest...and you're gonna accept the money no matter what...so shut up.

Plenty more Potter to milk. A 3rd gate would include another Potter land, maybe Fantastic Beasts related if the sequel can improve on the first one's gross.
Now that Comcast owns Dreamworks Animation, I'm expecting a lot more attractions based on IPs coming out of that studio.
The Nintendo partnership can also produce some in demand attractions.

So, on their own nothing that is going to singularly match the impact of Star Wars. As a combo it is enough compelling IP to excite the masses.

Well Nintendo is obvious but that is supposed to go into their existing parks. I am wondering what IPs they could use in a new park.

I am very optimistic with Star Wars. They are throwing 1 billion at this land and the rides are said to be some of the best Disney has ever done.

I would have to think a third gate would have some sort of theme. Throwing in a mix of Potter, Dreamworks and Nintendo doesn't feel like a good overall theme.

Star Wars is the biggest pop culture franchise not specifically targeted to children in American/world history...

The dollars back that up. So nothing will "top" it...but like many said...you can blend ips and get a formidable counter approach.

Especially when the disney construction teams are focusing on what's "enough"...not adding solid attractions in numbers to blow socks off and get more people on them.
