Tron and EEH?

We are going to be at WDW over Labor Day weekend and have a limited number of days to visit the parks with the biggest goals for my DH to ride Tron and Cosmic Rewind.

We arrive on 8/30 (landing around 5:30 pm) and I see that MK has extended evening hours that day. I'm trying to decide if it would be worth going into MK for just that night (and then do Epcot and another park on Sat/Sun). If we tried this we would stay that night at the Contemporary for easy access (and the deluxe EEH perk)

I think I've read there is a 6pm Tron VQ for just EEH? Do you have to be in the park? Is it hard to get? And how quickly do the boarding groups get called? I imagine we might make it the park until 8 pm or so.

Or should we just plan to do MK on Sat or Sun and skip the parks our first night? Other than Tron our main interests would be 7DMT, BTTMR, and Space Mountain.

In case you haven’t found an answer yet, no you do not have to be in the park for the 6pm queue, just eligible for EEH. I don’t have personal experience trying for the 6pm VQ, but I’ve heard Tron is a popular nighttime attraction so it can be competitive. Crowd Calendar has low crowds that day which will work in your favor. Is it worth only 4 hours there? I don’t know since it sounds like that would be at the expense of another park day, but those 4 hours should be productive. What are your plans for Thurs/Fri? They will be less busy park days than Sat/Sun of Labor Day Weekend.

Thanks for the reply!

We board the Galactic Starcruiser on Thursday-Saturday, so that is why our park time is so limited.

We did decide to go for the EEH on Wednesday. If we can't get Tron VQ or ILL for our time frame we might divert and try to go first thing in the morning before our 1pm boarding time, although that might be cutting it to close.

Normally I wouldn't try to go into the parks for such a short time. But I enjoyed Magic Kingdom so much more at night on our last visit and it makes sense this trip with the heat. Our main goal will be to introduce DH to Tron (and if we are very lucky ride twice with VQ and ILL) and 7DMT. Anything else will be a bonus.

When we did EEH our call back was somewhere between 10-11 pm.

We were stuck at Jiko for 4 hours and after driving back go VGF we just decided to retire for the night.

We also decided we would not be going back to Jiko anytime soon.

Sorry to hear you couldn't make it back, but thanks for sharing your call back time. Between 10-11 would be perfect for us. Fingers crossed!

How fun!
