Great work for the year everyone! I'll see many of you later this week!

Nice work!

We are up to 26279.48 miles and 3816.17 hours!

Good morning Ducks!!! Glad to see you are all doing well. I hope all of you that were able to make it to Disney this last weekend were successful in your race(s). My son and I were there and did do the 1/2 marathon! I looked for the W.I.S.H shirts but only saw a few. I did meet someone from the Goofs but never ran into anyone from the Ducks. I'm sure we crossed paths at one time or another though. Looking forward to next year!!!

Lisa And Betsy sorry i missed you at WDW. Augie, Kira, and Tricia nice to put a name with a face. It was a great time hope everyones race went well. The weather was lousy but still ran a PR at 1:46:10. My plan is to run the Goofy in 2012. I'm booked for 2011 so have to wait. So anyone thinking of the Goofy in 2012 maybe we can get a group together for it.

Brian sorry you couldn't make it you were missed. Rich

Sorry I didn't make any of the meets, though I did meet a couple of people (and saw KiraG) along the runs.

Considering I went into this injured, and maybe really shouldn't have done the whole thing, I survived and can check this off my list!

I have stress reaction in both feet now (the right one started hurting in the full)...possibly have progressed to early stress fractures...will probably get some xrays next week to see if there are any changes (though nothing may show, and clinically I know what it is--no need for MRI or bone scan). Treatment will be the same...no land running for 6 weeks, and I'm fine with that. I don't mind water running, and it's time to get on the bike for Ironman training. I don't think my feet are so bad that I jeopardized that race.

I was actually pretty close to my goals, too...had predicted a long time ago that I would be around 2:30 for a conservative half, then about 6 hours for the full. I did a conservative run/walk because of my foot issues...running 3 minutes, walking 2 minutes for all 3 races. Went 34 min for the 5K and felt great. Went 2:41 for the half marathon, and still felt pretty good. Went 6:05 for the full and my feet were pretty much toast by mile 22. They were hurting (as was the rest of me) by mile 11 or 12, but I was scared to walk too much and miss the cutoff. So I kept run/walking to mile 16. Possibly could have started just walking then, but still scared of the cutoff. By mile 18...same thing...I just kept taking it one mile at a time....then 3 min of running at a time. By mile 20 I finally felt safe from the cutoff, but at that point, walking hurt as much as running, so I just kept to my pattern and got it finished. Maybe could have broken 6 hours if I hadn't stopped for 2 potty stops and stopped once in HS to rub my feet. Oh, well...all done!

Hope everyone had fun...definitely a weekend to remember, what with the cold and all!
Was also happy that the crowds didn't bug me this year. People walking 4 abreast 2 years ago and being rude about blocking the road, as well as some charity supporters thinking they were the only people that mattered really turned me off of this event. Both of those issues were less evident this year. Still some issues with the cheering, but I just cheered back at them and MADE them cheer for other people.

Rich and Augie, it was nice to meet you guys!!

Betsy, hey girl! Yes, that was me right outside Hollywood Studios. I am Tracy (or one of the many Tracy's):lmao:. You were looking good and i am sorry to hear about your foot issues. Hope you recover well and quickly.

-Racey Tracy

Tracey was so nice to see you. Thanks for all you did and the nametag. I'm going to try and not lose it so I have it for 2012 for the Goofy hopefully.

Hello Ducks! As Rich said, nice to meet some of you. Rich, Tricia, and Kira at the POP meet. Also Tracy (and thanks for doing the tags). And I did meet Jenn at MGM on Monday as well. Congrats to all who finished, and thanks to those out there supporting. Big congrats to those who did Goofy, I honestly do not think I could have run on Sunday. And I also might have a problem with my foot as well, it is still a bit sore to walk. But I am on the bike again. Maybe next year I will attempt the full. As for the weekend, I was very happy with the way it was run. Can't control the weather, and it was not much of an issue after all. The one thing that could have been changed was the transport back after. That was the one time I felt really cold, there was quite a long time to be standing in the rain waiting for a bus. During the race I was quite comfortable, I shed a sweatshirt right befor the start, and tossed the tyvek jacket around mile 3. I took off my gloves and headband right before MK, and though my hands did get a bit cold right before Epcot I did not put them back on. At the Expo I was moved up to corral B, and my time was 1:51 and change. Right behind Rich, though I never did see him. Did you see on the screen the couple that got engaged right before the start? They did that almost right next to me, I thought that was kind of cool.

So, when do we start tracking our miles and time again? :)

It was nice to see everyone at the WISH meet on Friday - sorry I missed others. I survived the Goofy. I was prepared for the weather and layered up. Thankfully my final layer both days was the Tyvek jacket and pants with a blanket wrapped around me. On Saturday I didnt need to take any layers off - the tyvek jacket and pants kept me dry and warm so I was glad to have them. I didn't end up dropping my blanket until around mile 8 on Saturday. I didn't want to drop it too early and then get a chill later. I only stepped in a few puddles so my feet stayed somewhat dry - luckily I learned from the WISH team to have 2 pairs of shoes for the Goofy and I have done this throughout my training.

Based on my training this year I had a time goal in mind but I just wanted to finish. My strategy was to start my 5 minute run 3 minute walk intervals right away. For the half I gave myself a goal of 3 hours and I ended up doing it in 2:54 and for the full I gae myself the goal of 6 hours and I ended up doing it in 6:02. So I am extremely proud that I was able to stay pretty much on track with what I thought I would do. I used the KT Tape that I had purchased before the weekend - although it was the first time I used it. I taped myself up on Thursday night - my shins since they had been bothering me a bit in recent weeks and I also taped my hip. Friday morning I went out for a short run around the lake at Pop. The tape felt great so I knew I would be good to go for the next day. It felt great during the half but I had to re-tape after because of the rain and wet it just wasn't sticking where it needed to. So I re-taped on Saturday night. I must have taped my left shin a little different and it must have been taped a little wrong because I feel pain on the front part of my ankle. I am thinking it was the tape because its the one spot that was in between 2 pieces of the tape. The pain is more like a bruise feeling then sore muscles. Other than that my legs feel surprisingly well. I am probably going to get out tomorrow and get in a short run. Probably drive myself to the beach and run along the sidewalk. Its my normal route but since I only want to do like 2 miles if I take off from home it would be the boring mile and the beach is so much more interesting.

One thing I know is I WON'T be getting up at 2:40 AM tomorrow (or the next day) to go stand in the sleet and freezing cold but I am considering signing myself up for the craziness of the Goofy again next year. Most likely I will be doing it again for Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. It was so nice to have the support of both Rally and WISH this past weekend.

I'm i for keeping the ducks together.

I am in for another year with the Ducks. If there is anything I can do to help with the team let me know. I would like to be more involved this year then I have been.

Having the teams was a good incentive, so I am in for keeping the Ducks together.

Was it Groucho who said, "why a duck?"?

Duck Soup!

I know you all have a new thread, but thought I'd post this here as well...

It sounds like there's enough support to continue to the teams, in some form or another, this year. Lots of decisions to be made, though, so I'm hoping for some more input--specifically from team members:

For more, please see this post to the Teams 2010? thread, of which I've posted an excerpt here:

From what I understand, a (sort of) collective response to the teams seems to be

1) People appreciate the smaller, intimate teams, especially as WISH gets bigger, for team members of active threads, and new WISHers who want to get involved.
2) But people are concerned for about the effects of the teams on the WISH team as a whole, both terms of online activities (weekly/monthly thread, talking with other WISHers, getting more feedback outside one's team, the worries about emergent cliques & feelings of outsiderness) and at physical WISH meets.

It sounds as if the teams will continue in one form or another, whether as a challenge or more like a social thread (like the Bots, the Leaners, or any of the event-oriented threads like the Princess). They seem to serve a purpose for many people. But like others, I'd like to see the team aspect enable more interaction between all members of WISH. Best of both worlds.

Teams: To help facilitate this decision-making, I'd like all team members to take that extra step, go that extra mile (sorry, couldn't resist) to address concerns about the teams' effect. Talk amongst themselves, brainstorm, and have your representative make suggestions. Are you willing to be disbanded and reformed as a new group, starting new teams for an entirely new game with new teammates? If not a miles & minutes challenge, then what? People assigned to your roster or a join-at-will? What could you do to reach out to other WISHers? Etc.

Once teams have reached some sort of consensus, or a collection of ideas, could one person post them to this thread?
