Here we are Ducks! We have reached another month and we are motoring right along. The team is doing fantastic. I am so proud of each and everyone of your accomplishments since the year started. I am so excited about the fact that warmer weather is finally upon us. No more cold weather excuses to stop us from getting outside!! Yay!! So let's all have a great month and an awesome time!

Bryan - I love the thread name this month! Great pick!

I was so AWOL in April that I thought it would be nice if I started things off here in May. I just got back from running the Broad Street Run here in Philadelphia - a very fast 10-miler down the center of the city. I had an awesome time, and did really well, particularly considering my lack of training - I finished in 1 hour 49 minutes, with an average pace of 10:55.

What's our schedule for posting miles & minutes in May? I will try to keep up much better this month!

Responses to this week's prompt can be posted on the 'Ohana team thread, and starts here.

Free advice, it's worth what you paid for it. Then again, sometimes the best things in life are free. You decide in this week's mixer prompt.

Share with us some memorable advice you've received.

Your advice can be related to training or races. It can focus on healthy habits or be "life" advice. It can be the best advice you've ever received, the worst, or the most profound. It can be helpful tips that helped you as a WISHer and athlete. Or it can be simply the funniest, most useless, or totally inappropriate for a situation. Just so long as it's memorable.

And just like M & Ms, don't feel restricted to just one piece....

Hey all!
Just wanted to say "hi"
and I'm ready for a lil "May"hem :thumbsup2

Kira...nice job on the 10 miler!

Liz...hi!! Are you getting back to activity?

Postings for this month and every month are:
Days 1-7
Days 8-14
Days 15-21
Days 22-end of month.

Keep those posts coming!!

As for me, I had my 2nd tri of the season yesterday (a short sprint) and won my AG! yippee!!! That made me feel great, and I am pretty much back to where I was pre-surgery. Still very much need to work on run speed and drop a few lbs.

Oh, my lord Debra, you are so creative!!! I'm going to have to give this one some thought. Like most, I receive much advice, some of it very helpful....some of it not so helpful. Definitely has me thinking!

Sorry, my fellow duckies -- truth be told, April stormed in and kicked my butt, (I started off so strong, too) and so far May is following suit, but I am going to try to get back in my groove. I need to get back in my groove. I wish I was one of those people who instinctively turned to exercise in times of stress, instead of Oreos.

Betsy, I will get you the rest of my piddly April miles and minutes by the end of the week. Honest!

One achievement I am pretty proud of though and would like to share -- this past weekend was the adopt-a-thon at the North Shore Animal League (the world's largest no-kill rescue and adoption shelter) where I volunteer. It was open for 36 hours straight, and i was there for nearly half of that. At the end of it all, Sunday night, I was told we had broken our old record, with the unofficial total being 736 animals adopted into new, loving forever homes.

Now if there were only a way to count all the time I spent hauling puppies around for prospective adopters, I'd be off to a great start for May!

Gonna try to get caught up on the prior thread, too, but till then, hope everyone is doing okay!

Hi all. I am here to report for April

April 8-14 - 17 miles (including double miles for 10k) 1 hour 31 mins
April 15-21 - 2 miles 30 mins
April 22-30 - 8 miles (4 miles bike, 4 miles walk) 6 hours 30 mins (including 5 hours yard work)

Unfortunately I haven't gotten any running in since April 30 since things have still not gotten back to normal around (except things will NEVER get back to normal especially for my sister and my neice) I might get up early tomorrow morning and go for a run or walk.

Yup, I did my first jog yesterday and it felt great
to break past the walk stage!

Tricia sending you lots of support and hugs :)

Are we still doing the quotes???
This song/quote from a movie has been stuck in

Can you guess it?

"Without a single doubt
We'll smoke the monster out!"

Good Morning Duckies! Finally the rain has stopped, it has been a week of on and off wetness, Sunday I did the Five Borough Bike Tour in NYC and it rained most of the ride. Anyway, my weekly total is 91 miles (only 2 running) and 7 hours 15 minutes.

Liz, good to see you back out there!

Erica, sounds like you have fun with the animal adoptions!

This week next time I will be doing some running at DW!

Have a great weekend!

Hey Team! I have been a very bad and absent Captain recently and I feel the need to apologize. There are a few that no or have some good ideas of what is going on for me right now but with great reluctnace, I am not ready to talk about it with everyone just yet. I will ask, if you could, just to keep me in your thoughts for a little while. That would do more good for me than anything else right now.

For my miles and hours this past week, they were down to what I normally shoot for. We have had rain, thunderstorms and even hail and tornadoes around here for the last week. I am itching to go out for a run as I am getting really tired of the same scene inside the gym walls. Anyway, here are my totals.

Miles - 65
Hours - 11.25

Tricia I am thinking about you everyday trying to send strength and cope to you during this time.

Liz I am soooo glad that you are back. I know I have really missed you and our little talks. It is exciting to see that you are able to exercise again. You are an inspiration to get me to push thru and do more! Hope all is well for you up North.

I know there are several others that I need to mention and I will be back and do so. Now, I have to go to work. I am encouraged and amazed by each and everyone of you everyday! Thank you sooo much for all that you do.
