Trip reports from AKL from those not bumped to another resort

Guest Services insisted to my TA that no one will be staying at AKL beginning today until the end of August. I'm curious to know if that's true or not.

I can triple assure you it is not true. People are continuing to stay at AKL.

Unfortunately, not all guests are Dis boards people :) I'm sure we'll see some reports now and then. Plus, not everyone has a computer on vacation.

You have noticed that they are also a *lot* less people getting phone calls now, that has died down as those who were to be called, were called by now.

Here's my original post:

The most recent trip report we have is from 7/27, if that's the most recent trip report then it's still possible that there won't be anyone staying there from now through the end of August.

You said you could triple assure me, ..how?

I think those people are still there as we speak, she wrote the report when she arrived on Fri.
Mika911 will have to answer the triple assure point, I'm not sure.

We have dinner ressies at Boma 8/9, so we'll know if there are any people staying there. I'm not bringing my laptop but I'll find a way to let folks know about the construction.

I did ask my guide at DVC about the construction and she said that they have accelerated the contruction and that the top 2 floors are definitely being worked on with the first set of DVC units opened earlier this month.
She said that they have closed at least another third of the 4th floor that is directly affected by the contruction up above it. I'm just guessing that they moved all the people that would have stayed in the upper floors they started earlier than planned plus the 4th floor reservations. She even hinted that the new DVC pool MIGHT even be done by late July 2008 and there will be 2 tennis courts.

6 more days...:cool1: and we'll be drinking those dole whips at the Poly.

I just really think we're closing our eyes, if we think the AKL is not open. They have told us repeatedly they would be, concierge workers, etc.. I went ahead and called today to order my cake for in a just more than a few days at this point, and I asked if guests are there, and they said they sure are, and that things were going better. That isn't great evidence, but everything else indicates guests are staying there too.

There are some trip reports on the DVC Mousellaneous board, since the Villas have opened in July (there are also some great pictures). :thumbsup2

Sorry but DVC does me no good, obviously there are DVC members there that's the reason for the construction. I apologize, I'm very sorry to be *snippy* I'm just frustrated and having booked a vacation 6 months ago and not being able to stay where I booked it.

You can't always go by CM's at the resort. The CM I spoke to on 7/27 said he had worked the last 6 days straight and knew NOTHING about ANY guests being relocated...

I don't think the resort is closed, I'd just like to hear it first hand.

True. I do think the CMs at the resort seem clueless about people being moved because they aren't doing it on there end, it's happening before people get there, They still see guests every day, so it doesn't really "click" when them that some people have been moved.

Mika, how was your cake? Did you have it sent to your room, or a resturant? It's going to be both my mom and my DD B-day when we go in a few weeks. I was thinking of getting one. Are they expensive? How do you order them?

We stayed in a 1 br villa over the holiday weekend 9/1- 9/3/07.
Standard view was on the 5th floor overlooking the pool.
Rooms were just the same as those pictures posted by others on the boards.
Construction heard nothing- probably because it was the weekend.
Resort was filled to their current capacity and it was pretty busy.
No ressies available at Boma unless you went standby at 9p.
6th floor and part of the 5th floor was curtained off and you could smell the fresh wood of construction.
The elevator leading up from Boma only went to the 4th floor due to construction.
Loads of animals were out on the savanna.
Overall I'm glad I didn't cancel my stay here at AKV.:thumbsup2
