I traveled to Disney in August of 2000 While pregnant with twins, I thought I would share my experience. Traveling with me was my husband, our 1 yr old son and and our 10 yr old niece. This was our 1st trip with our child. We diceide to drive to save money, we only decided to go in May of 2000, and I booked Dixie Landings. This was our 3rd trip to Dixie.

Our hotel experience was, well, not too good. Our first morning there my son was sitting on the bed and went to grb something on the night stand and fell and split his head open just above his eye. Needless to say I was hysterical, 1st major incident with 1st child. We called the front desk and asked where the closest hopital was and was instructed to goto Orlando. Being from out of town, we had no idea where this was. I decided to go to the guest relations at the hotel, they were so concerned and called the paramedics. They were there in 2 mins. They told use he may need stiches, but the angle of the cut could just do suchers. All in all we did the suchers went back to the room got dressed and made it to donald's for our breafast res. My son loved it, he was fine 5 min after the accident, I was a wreck the whole day.

Dixie was under some construction at the time, and our room alligator bayou sec. was very far from the food court, etc. Being 5 1/2 months pregnant with twins, I was unable to walk very far at times. This made things difficult. Food court area was terribly dirty, swimming pool was dirty, very disappointed with the hotel, after staying there previously, I expected a little more quality. Not planning on staying there again, we are ready for a step up to the deluxe hotels.

Walking thru the parks in August and being preg. I would not recommend again. This was our first trip with kids, we were used to doing everything in one day when it was just my husband and myself, it was a new experience. We definately need to learn to explore with the kids(now I have 3, 5 1/2 old twins and a 20 month old.)

I thought the quality of the food in the parks was terrible, and waiting in the lines for food was torture. I think Disney needs to rework the food system. We also ventured to the marketplace in the evening without prioity res, which is a big no no. Unless you want to wait 2 hours to eat. I think the fact of being pregnant made the trip very difficult.

This was my seventh trip tp Disney and I was very disappointed with the quality of everything, the ticket prices keep going up and I felt the quality was going down. It may have been the time of year that we went, busy season. We are limited to going in summer months only. Of course that will not stop me from going, I am ready to go now, unfortunately the 5 1/2 month old twins are not. Hopefully in 2003.

All in all, it was a nice trip, we should have planned accordingly. We will do better next time. A piece of advice to pregnant women, think twice, my pregnancy was a difficult pregnancy but I still would think twice.

Some of the restaurants we ate in were: Whispering canyon, one of our faves, Cape May Cafe for breakfast, kids loved it, Rain Forest, excellent food, and Wolfgang Puck Express, one of the best express foods anywhere in the park.

Hope this helps! :)

Agree with you that tickets go up, service/hotels down, we decided we would go to Universal this year and stay at HR, we got this for $125 which wouldn't get you a closet at the hotels around MK at least.Michael Eisner has got to go, he's killing all my good memories, just once I wish a CEO would say we aren't cutting benefits, we're
adding anemities , and we're not uping the tickets this year.and don't get me started on those Florida resident hoppers...

I'm glad you had fun even though it was hard. I cant imagine going to Disney while pregnant! Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

I have to say, I don't know of anyone who has gone in August who comes back and loves Disney. I am such a fanatic and my friends know this. However, most of them can't understand it-They have all gone in August and hated it. Could be time of year, I don't know. I have always gone in early December.

I imagine being 5 1/2 months pregnant with twins made this trip difficult.

I'm glad you posted this, though, it will provide some insight for others planning a trip who are pregnant.

Thanks for posting!
