OK - here is a trip report from our trip that was cut short due to the impending Hurricane Frances.
Marriott Ocean Pointe is a PERFECT trade for a family with young children looking for a beach vacation filled with plenty of children's activities. Very relaxing compared to the run around of the typical Disney vacation. The beach is absolutely beautiful, rooms (we had a 2 bedroom) were extremely large and comfortable. The pools are terrific. One day there was music with children's games by the pool (hula hoop contest, walk around the pool with maracas, pool games, etc.), one day there was steel drum music with exotic birds that the children were allowed to handle. They had ice cream sundae making, tie dying, water balloon toss, frisbee decorating, etc., etc., etc. There was a baby pool, playground (in the sand), video rentals, a concierge who can help with all dinner or other arrangements. My older daughter did an amazing scuba dive with my husband and saw a nurse shark, turtles, ray, etc and a dolphin jumping in the waves of the boat.
Unfortunately in the midst of our fun we had to evacuate the resort on Thursday due to the storm. Luckily we were able to reschedule our flight through Tampa and arrived safely home last night before all of the gridlock on the highways and the airports closing down (this afternoon).
I would highly recommend this resort as an option for young families. It may not be the most "equitable" trade out there, but very relaxing and a lot of fun.
