I have been to DL and DW 5 x combined but neither in 15 yrs. So it was like a first time w/ so many updates/changes.
Our family of 5 left on a Thurs AM from N seattle in the family SUV. We drove straight to San Fran. W/ stops for lunch dinner, gas, potty; we arrived at 10:30. The kids did great and the drive wasn't bad at all especially since I got to drive through the scenice part of N Cali. Mt Shasta is Cali's Mt Rainier. So beautiful.
We spend a full day in SF and two nights staying with a friend. Boat tour, my DS 2 was picked to be in a street show, trolley, crookedest St, Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown.
Sat morning we headed a bit down the coast and stopped at a beach for lunch and then on to Anaheim.
WE had two nights at the HOJO w/ 2 qns beds. The rms are large. There was a fridge and the two skylights make it very bright, especially in the AM.
I picked the HOJO because I wanted to play at the pirate's cove there.
Day 1 for Disney..Arrived at 6:40 for 7AM MM. That was tough but we rallied and ate our on the go breakfast while in line. We headed straight to FL - dumbo, tea cups and a few other rides. Small world, princess Merida, Space Mtn, buzz lt yr, Autotopia, star tours,m matterhorn all by 10:30 and then off to Jedi Training.
My kids all made signs and I had them in bright shirts - orange, yellow. Two decided they didn't want to do it so when the trainers came out they shied away. The other one was picked. they pick a lot of kids and I am pretty sure at least one of my other kids would have been picked had he stayed at the front. This was really cool and fun. Another ride on Autopia and DH let all the kids get the driver's licenses at the end. Such a sucker but they are kind of cool and fit in the clear side of their pouches. a lunch stop w/ food brought from home. I packed a lot of food as I didn't want to be shopping and I didn't want to spend our time sitting and eating too long.
After we headed to critter country and met pooh, tigger and eyeore.
Kids were getting tired so we headed back from naps. We'd had a long few days of traveling. The youngest two did nap and then boys later went swimming. We went back to DL about 5. Rode some rides twice did our fast pass on Splash Mtn. All of us went on that and of course got the picture but I was closing my eyes screaming.
DD and I caught the parade. She loved seeing the princesses and many waved and blew kisses at her.
We also stayed for fantasmic. And we could see the fireworks from our room.

A few side notes: I bought the photo pass plus and had it mailed to SF. It arrived in 5 days and what a deal. We got tons of pics in the park. Still haven't looked at them. But we got to take the pkg pictures from Ariel's Grotto and Mickey's Surf Up. And then of course all the photos on to the disc from the big rides including carsland.
What we often did w/ FP - we would get 5. First time through we used two or three and mom went w/ boys on Space Mtn. Then we did child swap and when mom got off, dad went w/ boys again. Then we could come back later and do the same thing but one boy would have to wait the first time because we only had two FP left. But they still got lots of rides.
For matterhorn we did single rider and child swap. Matterhorn had really long lines one day but single rider was a breeze and you sit alone anyway.
I made an autograph book for DD and she saw 8 princesses and the main disney characters but other than that not many. For the boys I purchased the Disney Jr Encyclopedia. i;m glad I did as they can read it and such and really didn't get that many autographs either since they weren't in to princesses.
I bought disney lanyards for all the kids w/ pouches. They enjoyed wearing them and put their surfs up and first visit pins on them too. They collected their pressed pennies in these. Buy the M &M containers at the store and fill 2 qtrs/1 penny alternating and you are set for all the penny press machines. This worked great and makes a good souvenir. You can buy holders for them too.
I tried to dress kids in bright colors each day and parents too. It helped a lot for spotting each other, especially noticed the day when DH wore black. Not so easy.

Day 2. Breakfast at Mickey's at paradies Pier hotel. Highly recommend. We saw stitch, minnie, mickey, daisy, pluto. They came around several times to the table and posed, etc. Then 3x during the meal they did the surf dance party. our table was right in front so this was great. The food was really good too - lots of variety. Dh said the mickey waffles were really good too. And there was a penny press!
Then we went to play at pirate's cove at HOJO. After that we went to Laguna Beach and spent the afternoon. This was about a 30 min drive. This was our off day but we got a bit of sun and worn out.

To be Continued...

Day 3
We are spending the day at DCA. I tell DH we have to be in line at 7:30. He gets there and we join him about 15 min later.
So here's what happened to my plan: Dh and kids will go to RSR and I will go to get FPs. He has no clue where he is going and neither do I, I guess. I see this line of people and think it's for some special show. but it was a line down hollywood and around the corner to Bugs of people who were able to come in early from the hotels. So I am racing around and finally realize this LONG line is the FP line.
RSR is broken down so he and the boys hit mater while I wait in line for 30 min. Not too bad but at 8:40 I get the FP for 6pm.
They do mater again and then we head over to PP and do a bunch of rides there. The boys really liked Goofy's sky school. DD 4 still doesn't like the dark rides and won't go on Ariel. We do jumping Jelly fish and a few others.
TSMM is closed not working either. DH ponders screamin' and single rider line.
We are a little more overwhelmed at DCA. The crowds are much heavier then disney and DH is annoyed, and we just don't have our rhythm.
We take the kids to the redwoods then DD and I watch Aladdin. Highly recommend. Wish my boys would have come.
We got FP for Soarin' but didn't have time to use them before DD and I went to Ariel's grotto for lunch.
This was worth every penny. $75 for the two of us - tons of food and very good but best of all she loved posing w/ ariel and seeing 4 other princesses. I got the tri tip - it was excellent. It was a very nice experience. We went back for naps from 3-5 , then came back and we all did soarin'. Dh and I"s favorite ride. Even DD did ago. We kept telling her it was like being on an airplane.
Then over to the racers. Very fun for all of us. Love the whole CL area. SR line was closed as it was too long or we would have done that and Child swap. Bummer we could only go 1x. Then off to more ride at PP and the boys waited an hr for TSMM. We watched some of WOC. I had a FP for it but didn't want to deal w/ getting in lines, etc.
We managed to get out just before it got over.
Day 3 to be continued.

Wow, you guys got a lot done for a summer trip! Maybe I shouldn't be so nervous about the summer? I would have been overwhelmed by that FP lane for RSR, as I hate the feeling of not knowing where I'm going and the pressure of making the most of a precious morning.

Can't wait to read more!

Day 3 of our trip was spent all at DL. We got up pretty early to get a light breakfast at our hotel - desert INN and then walk across the street. I really liked being this close.
This day was not a MM for DL and so we were there at rope drop.
Dh took DD4 to her BBB appt and the boys and I headed to Space. We picked up FPs for later and then all road. Dh called and said DD wouldn't do the princess thing w/o me so I headed over there and she still refused after all kinds of bribery and what not. Later she told me she didn't want to stay there that long. Who knows - I finally figured out that I should just take my money and run since DH had let the boys make their own lightsabers at Star Tours store at $25/ pop.
So yeah I got off easy. This was suppose to be her bday present, The AG lunch was a late add on so very glad we did do that.
Anyway, We stopped for pictures in front of the castle - w/ a CM using my PPP card - love that thing. Then over to Autopia so DD could drive a car the entire way and not share w/ her brothers.
Boys did Nemo too. Then we spent much of the morning in toon town. All the kids liked Gadgets roller coaster and wanted to do it multiple times.
Mickey and Minnie were both here and goofy too but my kids weren't really into the characters as they were rides.
I stood in line for the princesses and the castle and DH took all the kids on the train around disney. It took about 20+ min for the ride. I had to let several people go in front of me but that was fine. Tiana, Belle and Ariel were there which was perfect because we hadn't seen Tiana yet and she had just got a mini tiana princess before leaving so this was a must. After we finished the Coronation ceremony was starting soon so I took DD to that and was pleasantly surprised. It was great - snow white aurora and cinderella. Danced on stage and then came on to the floor and danced w/ the kids. This is a must because there is no waiting and they get to interact. Was very pleased.
Dh and boys headed to TMR and did a ride there and then we did Space w/ child swap.
Oh we also did the Matterhorn this day. My 8 yr old waited w/ the 4 yr old and 7 yr old, DH and I did single rider. It went very fast. Great way to go on this ride since you don't sit by anyone.
Went back for lunch. Had some leftovers from AG lunch and other stuff. DD slept and boys went swimming.
Then back to disney for our last night. More space mtn, TMR, Gadgets and ice cream
That dole whip ice cream really is the best at the tiki hut. You get a big bowl and a great price.
i think we brought in sandwiches for dinner tonight.
i travel cheap on food although we bought treats in the park each day , one dinner, AG lunch and character breakfast. Since we went back midday it was easy to restock on snacks and such.
Great trip and DH , who didn't want to go, had fun.
Dh took kids back and I sweet talked my way into DCA to buy some shirts I saw earlier and never found at DL.
From here we left for vegas in the AM and got a rmm for 30/nt at the excalibur w/ pool privs at Mandalay Bay as well. Ate mexican and went to the M n M store.
If anyone has questions let me know. I love to travel -it's a huge passion - and I absolutely love planning our trips. This site was a huge help - I think the best tips I got were for the Photo PP and the DL discounted gift cards at Target - of course I should have bought more when I was getting them at 10% off.
Everything went great except that we were so busy I never got to buy many souvenirs, not even postcards. We did stop at the wal mart and disney outlet on our way out. Neither really had much however.
