First time at CBR, and here is my opinion.
Yes, it is a large resort. If you want to be close to Port Royale, then pay the extra. I made reservations 3 months ahead and requested Jamaica or Aruba, but got Trinidad South (nothing else available at checkin). Resort was clean, very pretty, and themed just like you were staying in the islands.
Rooms were very clean, and had no trouble with mousekeeping. Always had plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc.
Magical Express was flawless.
On last day when bell services told me they would pick me up at 10:20, they were on time to the minute and very nice. Our bus drivers to and from the airport were great. Just do what the instructions tell you and you should not have a problem.
We had purchased tickets ahead of time and just took our will call certificate and room keys to the desk in Port Royale and had the tickets transferred to the room keys. Never had a problem with them.
Check in was great, did not take any longer than it did 12 years ago. Remember, you have may have lots of questions about room, transportation, etc., and so may everyone else.
Food was typical for counter service anywhere else as far as prices, selection, etc. Still beats cooking!
Did think that the bus transportation from the parks back to the resort at night was crowded and maybe more buses should be available during a shorter period of time between pick ups. Saw CM's 2-3 mornings checking bus pick ups so WDW does seem to keep up with complaints apparently.
As far as dining in and around WDW, would skip Yachtsman Steakhouse - wasn't impressed at all; could never find a decent cup of coffee, even at Kona Cafe; and would not eat at Momma Melroses again. Purchased Fantasmic package and felt selection was poor and extremely overpriced. "Guaranteed seating" turned out to be your own section but even after arriving one hour early could barely find a seat and no one directed us to our section, etc. Would highly recommend Le Cellier, although tight seating food was great; Rain Forest (very nice staff and good food); Kona good but not what I expected; Whispering Canyon - average food but beautiful lodge; Jiko's great buffet and beautiful lodge.
Had a great time and already looking forward to the next trip.
