12/20- We were planning on getting there early, what a dream. Thank goodness we only live a short distance or we would have lost a whole day. I had orders to finish for my replica football jersey business I have on the internet and pulled an all-nighter to get it done. We still didn't leave until 11ish but we made good time. We got everything set up, got the golf cart in order and headed to WalMart to get some groceries. When we got back, we had enough time to got to MK and renew DS4's annual pass and catch some rides before the last of the VMCP at 7. The park was crowded, however, we got to ride most of what we wanted in the short time we were there. Obviously we didn't ride the roller coasters, but the continuous rides were fine to get on and off. We had to ride the monorail a couple of times around for DS4 and then went back and rode around and looked at lights at the sites.
12/21- We went back to the MK because we figured that with Christmas coming and the bowl game crowds on their way, this was the best time to go. We stayed for a good while until DS4 got grumpy and needed a nap. We didn't really have to wait too long for any ride and used fast passes to ride the most popular ones. I think we waited 30 min at the most. When we came back, my mickey globe was smashed on the ground from the wind that came about shortly after we left. I was heartbroken, however, I now have another project to do while school is out for the break. Whoohoo! We met BamaEd, who rode by with his son on bicycles. A very nice guy and polite son that one is! He got his "Roll Tides" in, however, I think I forgot to clean the earwax out that day because it was muffled!
Ed also informed us that we missed Stacktester, but we will get together soon, I know. We also met TiggerinBama, who came riding up on her golf cart. I have never felt so special! Kelly is such a trip and I sure hope she won the decorating contest. Her family had been working on that site for 3 solid days. The last I saw of them was when they had to go back to Walmart, again, for more extension cords. I have never seen so many wires. Her little tent was so cute with all the hidden mickeys inside. My DS4 had such a blast! We then rushed over to MGM to see and videotape the Dancing Lights. DS4 had crashed by now, but I did videotape it for his viewing pleasure at a later date.
12/22- We decided to try to hit DD early so we could get a little shopping done and then head to EPCOT. It was packed to the gills and I accomplished little. We did find out that the Art of Disney will print (I didn't know this before) replicas of old posters that were in the MK. We got DS4 a print of the peoplemover poster that used to be in Tomorrowland. You know, the light blue one. Anyway, he must ride that first when we go to the MK, so I am bartering with the local framer to get it framed for his room. She needs embroidery, I need framing. Works fine for me and her.
We then went to EPCOT to ride Spaceship Earth. I have to say, just like with the Haunted Mansion, is vastly improved. I enjoyed all the extras they have added and the part at the end with the interactive screens makes all the difference. I am glad we went at night too, because the word is out for the soft opening (official opening is Feb 08) and there was a substantial wait during the day. Even at night, we still were there 30 min minimum, but it is a constant motion, so it really wasn't that bad. We got back and introduced ourselves to LarryJ, but didn't stay long because we had a exhausted DS4 and him and his wife were baking a cake. Hopefully we can visit longer next time.
12/23- Check out day. We always like to go to EPCOT on checkout day because they have RV parking and it is easy to get in and out of there for a day trip. EPCOT was crowded and we waited a while to ride NEMO for DS4. We got there around 12 and all the fast passes for Test Track and Soarin were gone. We did a couple of things for DS4, ate lunch at a counter service place, but ate across the way from there because I didn't want to fight all the people with my monster stroller. We then took a tour of the countries, and stopped by to listen to the Voices of Liberty. Man, as a musician, it still gives me chills to listen to the sweet harmonies under that dome. DS4 even sat still through the 10 minutes. I could listen to them all day long. Can't say that we did much more than that. We left early and got home at a decent hour for a change. We will be going back in Feb. and for the Grand Gathering in July. We did stop by and introduce ourselves to LarryJ, but didn't stay long because we had an almost passed-out DS4 and him and his wife were baking a cake. Hopefully we can visit longer next time.
