We all slept in a little bit today. Woke up around 9:00 to give us enopugh time to pack up, check out & make it to AKL for our 10:30 PS @Boma. Packed really quickly, and had no delays or problems at check out. Left POR a little after 10:00, it was tough to say goodbye.
We all enjoyed aour stay there, it was sucha well-themed and relaxing resort. If my financial situation is the same the next time I got to WDW, I would definitely stay there again.
We made it to AKL right around 10:30, and headed straight down to Bma to check in. We only waited for about 5 or 10 minutes before we were seated. We all tried the frunch and it was very tasty. I was not that adventurous at breakfast, stuck w/frdnch toast potatoes, etc. They do have excellent fresh fruit there & the croissants are very tasty & buttery as well. After eating we headed upstairs to look in the lobby & gift shop. I called the central lost & found to ask about my lost sunglasses, but nothing wass turned in yet. They took my name & address in case they showed up.
We then left AKL to head to DD to do some last-minute shopping. We hit the WOD store, where I bought a cute Cinderella's cCastle pemncil hoilder for my GF (she really liked that). We walked aroun the marketplkace for a bit, and had a snack at the Gourmet Pantry.
It was then around 1:30 & we wanted to head over to the airport. We dropped off my sister's friend whose flight left fromn the other terminal & then returned our rental car. Again we had no hassles or problems. I found that the experience renting from Alomo was much better than some of the horror stories I heard on the boards. We cehcked in for the flight, and had no delays or problems there. Flight left MCO around 4:00 & we were back home on LI around 8-8:30, not bad.
Some thoughts on the trip - I was amazed at the lack of crowds, not that I'm complaining. We never had to wait for a vbery long time at any attraction. There was not sa single day where I didn't have a great time, and it was great to be back in WDW after my 10 yr. absence. I will aslo say that the food available in the parks & resorts was much better than I rtemeber it being, and you can say that excellent meals were possible at several locations. If I were to rank thge sit downs wer ate in, it would be in this order:
1. Le Cellier
2. Kona Cafe
3. Brown Derby
4. Spoodles
5. Boma
6. Tempura Kiku
7. San Angell Inn
Of those I would definitely return to LC, KC, BD. I might also give SPoodles another go, or try FFC, depending on my mood. I will aslo try CdF on my next trip to Epcot. Also, from a price standpoint, I was not really ove4rwhelmed by anything. That probably has to do kore w/the prices I'm used to paying in NY than that WDW pricves are reasonable. But in NY, I'm used to paying somethimes $25-$40 pp for a nice dinner, so I was not sent into aticker shock. As always YMMD.
As for the rides & attractions, there were some I missed this trip that I will ake sure to do next time, especially Country Bears, HoP in MK the movies in France & China (clsoed) & Illuminations in Epcot, and the Bird show at AK. My 5 best rides/attractions this trip were:
1. ToT
2. Splash Mountain
3. BTMRR
4. TT
5. Kilamanjaro Safaris
The 5 worst were:
1. Body Wars - the queasiest. Grainy film doesn't help me suspend my disbelief either
2. Star Tours - also queasy feeling & the most boring ride in all of the parks, yes even more boring than:
3. El Rio del Tiempo - nice for a rest after lunch, butr pretty dated
4. Backstage tour @MGM - seemd like a waste of time
5. Tiki Birds - the revamp didn't help.
I also really missed not being able to ride Horizons or the WoM in Epcot.
Going during this part of May was great, as the crowds were light & the weather was good. It only rained for a little bit on 2 days, and that did not affect our touring at all.
Looking forward to my next trip & I will try and find a way to convivnce my GF to go, as she isn't a Disney person like I am. I'm sure I'll suceed, especially if I bug her enough about it.
Thanks for readign & and comments or feedback would be appreciated.
